Article: 4th Annual Indiana Frosh-Soph State Wrestling Championships

There is a Girls Division this year ... there will be 3 qualifiers just like the Frosh-Soph Boys Tourney. At the Central Qualifier (Part of Indy Nationals the Sunday after IHSAA State), they have an entirely separate division with the same fee as the two other Qualifiers. All Frosh-Soph Girls in Indiana are welcome to enter the Qualifiers. I set the qualifiers at 5 per weight class, but if the turnout is larger than expected this number can be amended. Mark Durham -

Tournament Videos are currently being uploaded ... may take most of the day. Free viewing. Thanks again to Southport for hosting, and their team and club support. It was a big undertaking. Great job! Thanks to all the Head and Assistant Coaches for supporting and promoting this event. The first year it had 291 wrestlers, last year it was up to 390, and this year the event had 485 Wrestlers. Thanks to all of the great wrestlers who showed up to compete. The level of wrestling was awesome!

The normal number of Frosh-Soph who make it through Friday night is 16-17 ... this year was high by normal standards.

Indy Nationals wrestlers are now imported!. Congrats to the following list of Freshmen and Sophomores who Placed Top 8 at the iHSAA State Finals last weekend! We hope they will come watch, coach, and assist their teammates at Frosh-Soph State, but they have been removed from the Frosh-Soph event.

This error had nothing to do with the IHSAA ... they have been busting it on your behalf and are working hard to make this a great experience for everyone. If you have to throw someone under the bus throw me. Mark Durham. The buck for this TW mistake has to land somewhere. They were built this morning while I was in transit from some Evansville events back to Indy ... I should have pulled over at the Exit 87 Country Mark gas station on I69 south and checked them before they went public. I didn't. As it turns out they were set-up correctly, but there is a little check-box at the bottom of the build screen that says, more or less, "use saved lines instead of default lines" ... well, it needs to be checked and wasn't. And you know the rest of the story. Again, I am sorry. The "Show" was fantastic.

The South and North Qualifiers have been imported. Now at 600 Qualifiers with one Sunday to go. Congrats to you all. I will adjust the seeds up of the SSQ's from Saturdays Semi-States who advanced to the go-round (becoming a 2 seed) and State Qualifiers (becoming a 1 seed) ... All SSQ's are currently a 3 seed. Thanks to the Rankings Coordinator (Mike) for providing the great info on this thread.

Congrats to the 278 Freshmen and Sophomores who qualified for this weekends IHSAA Semi-States. They are already imported into the Frosh-Soph State Championships with a Seeding Criteria of 3 ... if they advance to the go-round Saturday their Seed moves to 2, and if they qualify for the IHSAA State Championships it becomes a 1 Seed. All of these 278 wrestlers are already qualified, and are not permitted in the Qualifiers on Sunday. Good luck to you all! The Indiana Frosh-Soph State Qualifiers are this Sunday and next Sunday and are for the other 4,000+ Freshmen and Sophomores who did not qualify for one of the 896 Semi-State positions. These events provide some great competition, help your current SSQ teammates, and expand your existing skills. The top 12 wrestlers per weight class per Qualifier will qualify for the Frosh-Soph State Championships on Feb 23-24. Seeds will be allocated by Qualifying placement. Last year we had 390 Participants at Frosh-Soph State. It looked like this.
