  1. great post amber... good job everyone and good luck at semi state to all. Lets all remember these are still all kids. They put their pride and their everything each and every time they step on the mat. This is too great a sport for idiots to tear down individuals and applaud goes tot to those who step in and put a halt to the nonsense... All the wrestlers remember conseco is the goal. lets get ready to rumble!!!!!!!
  2. I thought greg schaefer coached at beech grove those yrs?
  3. congrats to all the welches. very fine seasons you guys had. no need to hold your heads down. and for what its worth, ben lampley was not only a very good wrestler and hard worker, he was also one hell of a good kid! keep it goin out there in paradise coach... you do things out here the right way... g.e. williams
  4. congratulations drake stein and coach maglis. nothing like standing on that podium and reflecting on all the hard work, dedication And Missed meals. Enjoy your time on the top for a minute and then lets get it back for next yr. the target is on you already. its harder staying on top then it is to get there. just ask the two tht you had to beat win! very proud of you as I am everyone who has put in the work. g.e.williams
  5. Not a parents forum there's more parents on here than anything. As for the coaches dealing with it, if everytime this kid loses he acts a fool their not doing too much or maybe they need to deal with it a little differently. I'm all for u defending the kid. All I'm sayin is if this was addressed way earlier in his career that little display wouldn't have happened.now the horse has been beat..
  6. Why hasn't anything been said about the parents oe coaches? I've seen a couple post saying this has been a trend deom this school. I remember my son acted an ass when he was in 3rd grade at the virginia state freeatyle champuonships. He lost in the quarters. I walkes out on da mat told him to get his stuff and that he was done for the day. He didn't realize what I meant till about 15 min later. He asked what about wrestlebacks. I said not this year son we're out. And we went home. Lesson learned. If these kids attitudes are stopped early then there wouldn't be these problems. MattM. The danny coyne example was excellent. I too watched danny grow up that SR year and was very proud of him winning state.
  7. I believe MD wildeman was jv till his sr year and went on ro win state.
  8. @nickster. Ooh rah back at ya devil dog.. @ JB I do remember larock tied another hard chargin devil dog for #1 at staff academy. Tied straight across the board. They gave #1 to the other guy. Larock went into the sgt maj offfice and I inquired why he took second. The sgt maj said the other guy displayed better leadership. I know for a fact that was a very nervous sgt maj telling larock his leadership wasn't up to par. Lol
  9. JB there were several that fit that category. and thats SGT Maj seward now. sgt maj benford just retired. when i was makin 105.5 coach seward was chasing me down the streets of rome with a broom handle to make me make wt. i actually thought of jumping in front of a moving car just so i could go to the hospital and not make wt. seward told me if i got hit by a car i would still make wt and THEN and only then would i be allowed to go to the hospital. dont ya love the old days? semper fi also it does not surprise me that you were the one to start this mess... lol
  10. wow i must have mised a crazy one. Therse so much involved in this fiasco i dont know where to start. First I've been involved in wrestling over 35 yrs and i have never heard that if a person missed wt at the "official" weigh in be allowed to wrestle in that tournament at that wt. I dont care if phone calls were made to the president or the pope or some higher authority. When the young lad made wt pryor to the official weigh in no matter how many witnesses he had, it doesnt count. Pryor to the weigh in, his coaches should have checked his wt. not ask "are you good" but have eyes on scales "ok kid your good, dont drink nothing dont touch nothing. I remember wrestlig in finland some yrs back and our 136.5 lber goes to sleep .3 over. wakes up, works out and at weigh in time he's 143 lbs. and hes got tears in his eyes screaming telling our coach , "coach i swear to GOD I didnt eat nothing !!!" No Im not questioning the young mans integrity. So lets not go there. and i admit I myself have missed wt at some very very important tournaments and had to wrestle the higher wt so i feel for him i truly do but once he missed wt i feel he should have been done. As much as it may hurt, its the right thing to do. coaches ferguson and harmon are both great coaches and motivators of our young men. both have always had my respect. But Im an old school kind of guy so I lean towards coach harmon on this. question 1 did the boy make wt? No... #2 your saying the scales were altered? if they were ,name names and point fingers. if your pointing them at me then we have a problem and we can straighten em out quick fast and in a hurry.. if your not naming me or castle organization and not pointing at me then who ya pointing them at? lets get this straightened out. Any who, good luck this week to all who wrestle. and i do not hide behind an alias george williams
