No because one part of your analogy is HS to college while the other is college to college. And in what respect? Where would you rather go to play D1 sports? Michigan, I'm sure. Which one would you rather have a diploma from, Ivy League or Big 10? Bet we'd get some differences of opinion there.

I could be wrong (Lord knows it happens often enough) but don't all public school have limits on the area of the school district? I know the one I teach in does.

So now size doesn't matter. It's because of hard work and dedication. I must be misreading that, cause it sure sounds like you just shot a big hole in your argument. I could also see something like that happening because the wrestler doesn't want wrestling to interfere with is schooling. D1 wrestling takes up a lot more time than D3, I'm sure.

Not that it really matters, but I've always wondered what some of the names were in reference to. I am clueless (in more ways than one) on many of them. One is Y2CJ41.

As long as Indiana has that ridiculous rule about not being able to compete against teams more than 300 miles away (is that the right distance?), we'll never see how well our best stack up against the rest of the country. If I understand the rule right (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong), even if Brandon were to come to Indiana, none of our teams could wrestle them. Doesn't the rule say the team, not the site, can't be more than 300 miles away?

You ever heard the word "rhetorical"? By the way, that question was one, also. Once again, perfectly reasonable and logical are in the eye of the beholder. And if I don't want to believe something, even if it is supposedly stated as fact, that's my right, just as it is yours. Peace out.

I forgot to put the smiley face after my post. My bad. I've been in MD's gym on a Sunday afternoon and seen the crowd at their feeder school meets. No way is there any recruiting going on.

I didn't mention the "r" word because SOMEONE would jump all over it and say I was accusing Mater Dei of it. I've been around southern Indiana my entire life and know it's not true. Mater Dei is one of those places (Jasper is another) we used to fill out football scouting reports on and say that you could take a lineup year after year and just change the first names 'cause of the family tradition.

Old wrestlers never retire....they just get more and more vocal. Someone out there can come up with a better ending than that, I'm sure.

I'm betting one is Don Patton. I heard him say once in a panel discussion that he'd never wrestled a day in his life. Worked at a gas station while he was in high school, I think. Said the key to his success was to surround himself with assistants who knew what in the hell they were doing.
