  1. Merrillville's coach is good, but so is CP's, so I think that's even. CP has beaten Merrillville plenty while Maldonado has been there.

I have a feeling something extraordinary is going to happen somewhere. Should be a very exciting match. And whoever's left still has to wrestle Portage next! Ouch.
  3. It's not that small, actually. The problem is the first two rounds when one half of the lower bleachers aren't used. After that, it's fine.
  4. Yeah, but those three all won last time against Merrillville and they still only won by 7. Merrillville can defintely win if the whole CP team doesn't show up to wrestle on that particular night. A team is much more than three individuals. I have a suspicion the match will come down to bonus points, so it would help if the three big guns scored bonus points. But just having them there doesn't guarantee them anything.
  5. You are right, the Munster against Portage match could be close; although I think Portage will win in the end. You are also correct that the first round at the Portage Team Regional will be exciting. I think it's clear that this is the best Team Regional in the State.
  6. I think the first round matchup of CP and Merriiville is the toughest. Not like it matters, though, since you have to win it to advance.
  7. You obviously aren't familiar with Northwest Indiana. There are different ideas of what the region actually encompasses, but I think it's fair to say most of Lake County is included. I think the disagreements come when you start including rural Porter County and LaPorte County in the definition. I've even heard some people include St. Joseph County, now that's certainly not the region. Those schools you mentioned are all in the heart of Lake County, so I think you are wrong and most people who know would agree with me.
  8. It looks like the team regional with Portage, Merrillville, and Crown Point will be a dandy (btw, who else will be there?). If I recall, that's three teams right there ranked in the top ten. That has to be the toughest regional in the state. That said, Crown Point is probably the favorite, but they always seem to falter when it counts against Merrillville, not just in wrestling, but in all sports; and Portage could be the sleeper if they bump some people around and pull a few upsets. However, on paper, it looks like CP and Merrillville are the top two; and if they meet in the finals, it looks like CP has the advantage in 8 weight classes and Merrillville in 6. It wouldn't be too far out of the ordinary for Merrillville to win the meet with only six wins if they can earn some bonus points and stay off their backs. Didn't CP only win the last match by 5? I'm thinking this could get very exciting if the draw works out and they face each other in the finals.
