The only shot you have of another weight class around the 215-285 weight range anytime soon is if they reorganized several of the weight classes. They will probably never add another weight class because of the reseasons mentioned. However, I do think their may come a day in which they reorganize the weights. If this reorganization involves the upper weights they may just space those weight classes out in a way that helps to relieve some of the weight gap we currently have between 171-189-215-285.
  2. If the kid can correctly handle being a multi-sport athlete and likes doing that then by all means let them have it. Some of the kids get involved in others sports to just prevent getting burned out by just one. If the kids want to focus on just one activity and seems to enjoy it all year round then thats fine too. It has to be the kids decision if he/she thinks its worth it to just focus on becoming a stud in one sport or if they would rather be involved in multiple sports knowing that it may hinder their progress in their best sport. Athletics are very unpredictable though. Sometimes kids have to just focus on one activity in order to eventually become great at it and other times you get those rare athletes that seem just be naturals at any sport they get involved in. As long as its the kids decision in what to get involved in, they are trying their best and enjoying it, and they are not getting burned out then let them do what they are doing.
  3. Mish obviously is pulling away but man the race for 2nd is heating up between MV, Bellmont, and LN. Getting the bonus points in wrestleback are going to be huge for those teams.
  4. Floyd still has a good team and they proved it at the HHC meet. I figured the Jeff/Floyd match would end up being a battle but Floyd opened it up and proved they are a team to beat. Reguardless of some of their pitfalls this season they obviously have a team that contend for the sectional title. Y You can not count Jeff out of Sectionals either with the talent loaded and determined roster that they have. Struck knows how to prepare his team for big events and will be sure to have them focused come sectionals. I'm sure the will have the Floyd match from the HHC meet in the back if their mind during the HHC tourny as well as sectionals. Many of you are over looking the fact that this is not a dual meet to determine sectional champs but a tournament. The sectional title will probably end up coming down to two things. 1.The outside factors of what other teams studs take out either a Floyd or Jeff kid. The other teams getting points that could have been either Jeff or Floyds will be a big factor in the outcome. 2. How both these teams kids bounce back in the wrestleback rounds if they are eliminated from the championship bracket. Some kids seem to lose focus and if they are not going for the title just stop wrestling. However, in a close race like this one it will come down to advancement point as well as bonus points in the wrestlebacks too. Scoring points and bonus points on top of that will be a factor in who wins. Even the 5th/6th match will be huge for either team if they also can pull of a few bonus points in them, as well. Obviously the seeding will do a lot in determining which of these two teams has an advantage, but it doesn't necessarily mean everything if you can't wrestle to your seed or above it. This should be a sectional to follow this year and the new criteria for which team advances just adds more pressure to both team to preform to their upmost ability.
  5. Look for this to be the best semi-final you see until state in a few months. The crowd will sure be into these two matches.
  6. Glad to here Harper is healthy enough and up for the challenge. Should be one heck of a weight class with him in the mix.
  7. As of lately the "there" doesn't even really exist to be at even if someone wanted to be. The IHSWCA site has two feet in the grave and the casket closing at this current time. Until they can find someone with a little more tech savy skills to keep it up and running and updated correctly this site is basically the only place you will find any informatoion on the complete state of Indiana's wrestling status.
  8. It's mostly a result of convience more than anything I think. The voters probably don't keep to much track of whats happening in the state other than their area. Because of that they rely on past state results and perennial top teams for the rest of their votes. That does not explain all the rankings, but I would say it explains how many of the coaches vote. Unless you are constantly looking into information and collectiong data (i.e. people like Y2) you probably are a little oblivious to what is happening with many of the states teams outside of your area. The team rankings have mostly been that way in the past several years, not a recent occurance. I would say that it's not really a results of the IHSWCA's lack of web management, as it is the polled coaches not spending tons of time looking for the results of most teams in the state. If you ask me the us vs. them thing is getting a little tired. Not specifically the Y2 statement above, but those who are full out trashing the old board just for being the old board. Yeah the IHSWCA doesn't have a working message board now and those who run it do not have a lot of web knowledge, but everyone was more than happy to frequnent the site for several years without an major complaint about it. Just because we have a brand new shinny board with tech savy opperators and internet researching guru's doesn't mean we should completely trash the one site that helped bring Indiana wrestling together in tehe first place. I for one like and thank the IHSWCA for all they have done and still do for the sport in Indiana. If anything I thank them for paving the way and bringing everyone together. I also feel sorry for them that they were not able to find the time to opperate the board or the and technical skills needed to maintain the site as well as they would hope it can be ran. Yeah they could outsource the running of the site, but then they would be giving up much of the control they feel needs to be maintained in order to run an unbias organization which purpose is to help the wrestling coaches of indiana with issues. The IHSWCA provided the message boards and with it rankings just as a side project of their actual purpose of helping coaches and the sport. It's fine to say this site is one of the best sites for information about Indiana wrestling. Howver, some people are just blatently trashing the old site just because it did not offer as much content and that really accomplishes little in helping further the sport. I also thank this site for picking up where the IHSWCA site has left off and continueing to bring Indiana wrestling information to all of us in bigger and better way.
  9. I still can't imagine Mir being to big of a draw in a title fight. Lesner may be able to pull in some numbers, but Mir being his opponent wont add to many more viewers.
  10. From the rule posted above. "All wrestlers must have a minimum of six (6) ?qualifying? weigh-ins prior to Monday, January 26, 2009 which is the Monday prior to the sectional and the day of the seeding meetings."
  11. The official downfall of the board can now begin and you had such a good thing going here with this new setup. No seriously congrat man.
