  1. This is with the new numbers for the 2024-25, 2025-26 cycle. Numerous teams moved up and down between 1A and 2A. Cascade is so far up into 2A and Rensselaer so far down into 1A that neither is even really a cut line team.
  2. Sergio again proving last night he's leveled WAY up. He's now recently lost 7-5 to #2 Bartlett (who beat Jesse last night, 4-1 in SV) and majored #1 Woods. If we see Lemley/Mendez at Big 10s or NCAAs, it's going to be a war.
  3. Yes, full lineup bonuses are already calculated. This is you: Points are scored from your "virtual" results. You're a Category 3 sectional, meaning only the top 3 placers, on average, would advance at an "average" level sectional. So 4th and 5th placers at your sectional receive a virtual designation of Sectional 5th/6th. And the 6th place finishers receive a designation of Sectional non-placer ("sect" above). I'm guessing your small drops in points at 126, 175 and 190 where you were 4th, 6th, and 4th are where your calculation is different from ours. Another possibility is that grades for your kids were entered wrong on Track and one of the seniors above ("S") is actually an underclassman.
  4. As jc said, I mean the rank order right now is insignificant because there are so many big points still available. Some near the top in 4A right now won't come close to qualifying, but some further down will score huge numbers the next 2 weeks.
  5. Here are the Team State Leaderboards through Sectional. I wrote in another thread. Two of us that do a lot of this are traveling and we're behind. About half of these scores have only been tallied by one person and have not been cross-checked for correctness. We will be much more "official" after regional. Also, these enrollment numbers are Department of Education numbers. They will remain unofficial until state finals weekend. If the IHSAA does its biannual enrollment/classification release by the state finals, we will use that data instead. If not, these numbers will stand because we are at the end of the 2-year cycle, and we want to use up-to-date data. Remember, in 1A these scores already matter very significantly because it's much tougher to score from here on out in that class. In 2A, scores mean something now, but teams with many kids left can still make big jumps. Scores after sectional for 4A and 3A mean virtually nothing. You need most of your team to semi-state to get one of the automatic 8 spots in 3A, and you need most of your team to the ticket round and state for one of the 6 auto bids in 4A. Here's a file with a Leaderboard tab and a Classification/Enrollment tab: Team State Classification & Leaderboard 2024.xlsx Or, you can simply click a few times to zoom in this image on most formats and the leaderboards and enrollment numbers are both there.
  6. It will take too much time for that to be published, so we're going with the numbers from October, knowing they're more accurate than February 2022 and hoping the IHSAA publishes its version in the next couple weeks.
  7. If the new data is released before the end of the tournament, we'll use it. Often it has been historically. However, it was released far after the season last cycle. Because of that, we're currently in the process of studying up-to-date DOE numbers to be sure they're viable and fair for all schools anywhere near any cut lines. If they are, we'll use DOE numbers this year unless a State Finals hard deadline for IHSAA publishing is met.
  8. Hey, parents and coaches, We need these kids' grades for Team State Qualifying data tracking. They are not input correctly into TrackWrestling. Please help! Thanks!!
  9. Yes, same as always. Sectional leaderboard usually isn't till Thursday. It might be later this time. Two of the three of us that usually do most of the work have significant travel this week. Got a new Cook in the kitchen helping us a little though, so we shouldn't be too far off schedule.
  10. Here is the 2024 Team State Qualification Procedures doc, which includes injury reporting instructions and Category levels for all sectional and regional sites. Additionally, two significant changes to qualification are outlined in the document: 1. Class 3A will now permanently have 12 participants rather than its previous total of 8. 2. Classes 3A, 2A, and 1A will now have its final 4 wildcards (slots 9 through 12) determined by IN-SEASON voting in December. Previously only the final 2 wildcards were chosen by in-season voting. (note: 4A will continue to have 8 participants and 2 vote-in spots from its much smaller class of about 32 to 34 teams.) IHSWCA Team State Duals Qualification Procedures 2024.pdf Finally, here are links to all of the most common questions about the process: General Qualification and Scoring Process: Team Classification: Controlling for Sectional and Regional Difficulty: Injuries and "Those scores don't seem fair" situations:
  11. Sorry to confuse you. I mentioned you're a 3 in the comment right before the remark that you're closer to a 4 than a 2.
  12. Thanks for the compassion, but it's all pretty streamlined now. We just have to move the teams around and the calculations happen pretty automatically.
  13. The Lake Central move added about 8 expected semi-state qualifiers (assuming an "average" site) to your regional, and the rest of the regional collectively improved slightly. You're closer to a 4 than a 2 now, actually.
  14. Ha...locked in for life. There are actually no Category 2s at any site this year. You're one of many 3s.
  15. All the better...it's already done that way. So just use the same procedures as now, but move replacements into the 8 slot and bump everyone else up. Not sure how you present this to the IHSAA without focusing on the fact that it's meant to combat shenanigans.
  16. Trying to understand the strange-looking bracket at 175 at the Frankfort sectional. What happened to Westfield, who were seeded #1, won a match, lost in the semi's, FF'd in the wrestle backs and now show up in all slots as a FF? Was there a flagrant misconduct? I don't need the kid's name or any details. Simply: Was it a flagrant? And, in either case, what grade is the kid in?
  17. That's right, and you wouldn't even have to seed the 8 and 7. You could just make the rule that the randomly drawn kid in the 7 slot moves to the 6, the 8 slot moves to the 7, and the substitute takes the 8 slot.
  18. You're right, there were some changes in the Indy and south/southwest sites because of all the moving. "Categories" are tabulated based on how many collective projected regional or semi-state qualifiers there are at a given site. An average-level site is Category 4, meaning there are roughly 4 advancement-level kids per weight class at that site. So moving schools around definitely impacts things. For example, if you move two schools into one sectional that would be expected to get 18 through and move out two schools expected to get only 4 through, you've jumped a Category level right there (+18 - 4 = +14 = 1 per weight extra advancement-level kids). A site that was a Category 4 before would then become a Category 5 and receive advancement points for 5 kids instead of 4. I've got all the data out to our data managers already, but I need some more time to get out the Procedures doc later today.
  19. In the long run, people won't look back at results and care about duals. But I was in the arena. A Big 10 rivalry in a standing-room only crowd of 4500 in an arena designed for wrestling with both teams putting out their best possible lineups is one of the most electric environments there is in wrestling anywhere in the world. It sucked seeing Davison get upset at the end, but having an entire dual in that environment come down to a last-second upset takedown for the home team was an unbelievable moment to witness.
  20. I don't think there's much to debate here, you're right. Michigan could travel with 3 subs, Lemley failed the skin check, UM didn't have a sub at his weight, and that forfeit gave OSU the dual, 20-19.
