  1. I agree with you starsman...Cashe is a beast...it's hard to imagine many coming close to him.
  2. All Evansville area schools are closed Friday.
  3. Any news on these brackets yet? I still don't see them on the Home Page...come on, someone please send them in!?!
  4. I know I usually see these magazines laying outside the Athletic Office at the high school, but is there anywhere else they can be found? Someone mentioned the post office? Thanks.
  5. We got about 6 inches of snow, with another 1-1/2 inches of ice. Where I live, way out in the country, we had some 3-4 ft. snow drifts that were packed solid with ice from all the sleet. It was a total pain to try to hammer through the ice blocks. I thought about trying my hand at ice sculpting...
  6. Yes on the Indianamat homepage. I couldn't understand the brackets. They just look like a big mess to me. I've even tried to convert them and it isn't working. Help!
  7. Before body fat testing you had to weigh at least 88 pounds(may have been 87 or 89, but it was one of these weights. They changed it to that you need a minimum body fat % or a doctor's form that states you are healthy at your weight. Thanks for the info guys. One of my main concerns about bumping up 103 was for those smaller kids who were worried about meeting minimums. Since those kids would be under weight already, the body fat test shouldn't pose them any threat, correct?
  8. This may be a question for Y2... There are weight requirements for 103 correct? Like, a kid must say a certain weight (say 90 lbs...I'm not sure what it is) to even qualify for 103, correct? So, if they would do away with the 103 class or bump it up a few lbs., would the minimum weight requirements stay the same, or would they move up as well? And if so, how could those smaller kids continue to compete? Just wondering. I know our team could field several 103 lbers., and I know several 7th/8th graders who are on the small side, some just trying to put on weight so they'll be w/in the minimum weight requirements next year.
  9. I'm up for any wrestling movie that is... a) realistic (actors who actually know how to do wrestling moves...hell, why not hire a bunch of ACTUAL wrestlers) inspiring c) shows wrestling in a positive light I understand that there are some negative connotations about wrestling, and some are very real dangers, however, the movies that have attempted to show the "darker side" have completely left out the positives. With the right people at the helm, it is possible to make a serious wrestling movie that shows both sides. When I think of the kind of "wrestling movie" I want my son to watch, I want a story about overcoming obstacles, facing fears, hard work, and leaving it all on the mat. Wrestling builds character, perhaps more than any other sport, do to the uniquely "dual" nature of the sport. It's the one sport where truly, the whole is only as good as the sum of its parts. If someone could really show that, I think they'd have a box office hit.
  10. This is a bit off subject, but what are the criterias used for seeding? I was wondering about all the out-of-town matches wrestled, are those matches considered in the "record" used for seeding events in Indiana? Also, if two kids have similar records (say 26-2, 28-2), but one has consistently beaten the other head to head, is that considered an advantage for the one who has been the winner on those previous occassions? Seeding seems to take on so many forms, so I'm particularly interested in how seeding is done for Sectionals.
  11. Since I've been around a wrestling program most of my life that wears tights, I tend to like them. However, never being a wrestler, I can't say if they help or hurt come match time. I think they look nice...and MD's seemed to do pretty well over the years wearing them, so I don't think they can be that much of a disadvantage.
  12. I think we can all agree this was a good week-end of wrestling, even though some questionable calls were made. What's done is done, it's over now, and all we can do is look forward to Sectionals and possible re-matches & hope for a different outcome the 2nd time around. That being said... Great job to all the wrestlers who came out and made this an exciting SIAC Saturday. Good luck this Saturday as you start the tournament series.
  13. http://courierpress.com/news/2009/jan/25/its-mater-dei-again-but-just-barely/ Courier & Press article about SIAC.
  14. Thanks for all the good info. An earlier thread got me thinking about it, but I wasn't sure if every school had a different policy or if they had to follow some sort of IHSAA guideline.
  15. So, do they have to wait until the quarter is up, or is it just once the grades are above passing?
  16. Does anyone know the "grade policy"? Does each school have their own policy, or is it regulated by the IHSAA? I was just wondering how it works. If a student becomes ineligible because of grades, is there a pre-determined time period of "sitting out" or is it just until the teacher's sign off that the grades are in order?
  17. Amen to that! Those Bellmont moms are intense, just like me...love it!
  18. Drew runs around with my cousin & we talked to his dad @ a meet one day...told us they've been beating up other up for a long time...lol!
  19. Maybe, but Weinzy & Macke were pretty dangerous in their own right. MD's 2003 team is my "dream team" pick, but Gabe Zirkelbach and Kevin Head were some of my all-time favorites to watch.
  20. I plan on being at SIAC too. Well...if things go right for Zach & Drew they could end up in the finals together...cousins battling it out for the title!!! Good luck to him
  21. Went to Lincoln JC in Illinois DJ spent some time on IU's and Oklahoma State's roster. It appears he is now a police officer in Tulsa, OK. From 2001 "285 - Kellan Fluckiger (ASU) dec. DJ Radnovich (OSU), 2-0 " From 2002 "D.J. Radnovich had a takedown of No. 1 Steve Mocco and scored near fall points to give him a 5-3 led, with the second period closing. Mocco scored four points and won 7-5." From 2004: http://www.tulsaworld.com/TWPDFs/2004/Final/A_1_12_18_2004.PDF From 2007: http://www.tulsaworld.com/TWPDFs/2007/Final/W_070407_A_11.pdf That's cool...I'd run if I saw a cop like him coming after me. Thanks for posting. I talked to him & his family his senior year at Castle @ Regionals and it sounded like he was a really good artist, so I always wondered if he went to art school...but cop makes a lot of sense!
