  1. Hey BlueBolt, we know of a kid that was alt. last year and went to state don't we!! That goes to show you that some 4th placers are better than the 1st placers at a diff regional!!! We sure do...we were just talking about that Saturday! What an awesome run!
  2. It seems like every week wrestling is broadcast somewhere. Does anyone know if any of the Team Regionals will be broadcast/streamed? I'd love for Jasper to be broadcast, but I'll take what I can get. Anyone know?
  3. At 130 for Castle is not injured. Seitz just won Sectionals this weekend. I think he was commenting on how Castle could make up the points from their first meeting. Was Seitz injured for that one? Yes, the 1st time they met Seitz was not there. It should be interesting. I never count the Cats out...they always seem to do what it takes when it's all on the line...that being said...they better come to wrestle because I'm sure Castle wants it pretty bad. If Castle wins, this would be the 1st time MD didn't make it to Team State...so they'll be gunning to protect their legacy. Should be a heck of a match...wish it wasn't at Jasper...that's quite a haul during the week.
  4. I agree...wahoo to you for telling me @ Mt. Vernon!
  5. Ha ha ha...let's just call it even I was so excited to watch the show Mt. Vernon put on today...I was really impressed...hadn't gotten to check them out this year...what a great 1st look! I beleive SOMEONE may have said Mt Vernon has a really good team LOL OK...you told me so....I was VERY impressed!!! Great job to ALL the teams...esp. MD, Mt. Vernon, & Reitz...way to go!
  6. That's right...it should be exciting!
  7. Ha ha ha...let's just call it even I was so excited to watch the show Mt. Vernon put on today...I was really impressed...hadn't gotten to check them out this year...what a great 1st look!
  8. So, does anyone have any results from the Castle Sectional?
  9. We'll have to go through & see how we did...I think we both nailed a few and blooped on a few...it was a fun day!
  10. This should be pretty complete: 103: Kuhn ®, Hall (H), Appell (MD), Johnson (M) 112: Moody ®, Leimkuehler ©, Matheis (MV), Adler (MD) 119: Johns ®, Schroeder (MD), Hoehn (MV), Keith © 125: Henderson (MD), Rueger ®, Konrath (MV), Sulawske (N) 130: Girten (NP), Wolf (H), Burkhart (MV), Weinzapfel (MD) 135: DeHaven (M), Weinzapfel (MD), Muerer (MV), Dowdy ® 140: Sims (MD), Hoehn (MV), Voegel ®, Steele (N) 145: Zenthoefer (MD), Marshall (MV), Boyle ®, Prasek (M) 152: Ritter ®, King (MD), Bittner ©, Colavecchia (M) 160: Edge (M), Easterling (MD), Wagner (MV), Smith © 171: Wedding (M), Boots (MD), Choate (MV), Turi © 189: Carlile (N), Price (NP), Adams (M), Rubenacker (MV) 215: Kercher (MD), Wimpelberg ®, Ruggeri (MV), Sandwith (M) 275: Borkowski (M), White (MV), VanWinkle (MD), Boeglin © MD: 286 pts MV: 225 pts (I Think) Reitz: ? There were some really good match-ups, a few surprises, and a few upsets. Mt. Vernon came ready to wrestle...they racked up a lot of bonus points and caused a few upsets. I was a little surprised by the sheer # of FF today, and I wish they would've kept the mats going during the finals, but overall it was a good day of wrestling. I would have to say 125 was the match of the day...didn't get to see 275 championship, but it must have been a good one!
  11. Someone said it earlier...125 will be worth the price of admission... IT WAS...Henderson (MD) wbf in OT...most exciting match of the day...well worth my $5!!!!
  12. Great post...only a few hours left and then the fun begins!
  13. The old board is almost dead (although I've been checking to see if there's a pulse)...didn't seem like much was going on and I couldn't figure out if they wanted people to post or not.
  14. In this case, the legend and/or myths, have the ring of truth. Blake did not have a stellar record as a youth wrestler, but he is one of the most determined young men you will ever meet. I think that learning the fundamentals is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for youth wrestlers to learn. Winning is good...but becoming a technically sound wrestler is KEY. I think about how many kids I see using the headlock at these tourneys and getting wins when a kid doesn't know how to counter. The headlock will only work for so long...once you hit the high school level you better know a heck of a lot more. As parents, the most important thing we can teach our kids are a) fundamentals, good sprotsmanship, c) self-confidence and d) unconditional love. Those are the building blocks for future success...in everything...wrestling included!
  15. Just got power back this evening... And here's your Whoo Hoo !!!!!!!! Power back...wahoo for you too!
  16. Thanks for this Y2...great job! I was a little surprised by the 33 FF @ 130 & the 31 FF @ 160...I would see both of those weights as relatively easy to fill.
  17. You are now, officially, a semi-state qualifier...wahoo!!
  18. You are correct...I completely spaced on White. I'm sure he'll be in the top 3...most likely #1. I do have one question, if anyone can answer it... Easterling has got to be the top seed in 160...how come he is the only wrestler to not have a 1st round bye? Oh yeah...and how is the double FF handled? I noticed @ 152 NP & Bosse meet, both w/FF. I figure that Ritter just automatically advances to the Semis, and I assume neither of the FF count for anything? Who gets the match instead of one of the byes is totally random. If he really is the best guy in the weight it is to his teams advantage for him to have that match instead of a bye. The guys with a first round bye will not get any team points in the first round unless they win the second round match. If they win the second round match they will get two advancement points for the bye from round one. The winner of the match in round one will get two advancement points from that match and also has a chance to get one bonus point for a major decision, one and a half bonus points for a tech. fall, and two points for a fall, forfeit, DQ, or injury default. The top six wrestlers are seeded. Yeah, I knew it was an advantage in a way (advancement ponts), but wasn't sure how it all played out. It just seemed so odd that he was the only wrestler w/out a 1st round bye. Thanks for the info.
  19. OK, I had to revise my 285...I had totally stapled over White and didn't even think about him. Other than that...my picks stay the same. We'll have to see how it all pans out...but overall we look pretty close.
  20. You are correct...I completely spaced on White. I'm sure he'll be in the top 3...most likely #1. I do have one question, if anyone can answer it... 21. 103: Kuhn, Hall, Appell 112: Moody, Adler, Burchette 119: Johns, Schroeder, Hoehn 125: Henderson, Rueger, Sulawske 130: Weinzapfel, King, Girten 135: Weinzapfel, Dehaven, Dowdy 140: Sims, Hoehn, Steele 145: Zenthoefer, Boyle, Prasek 152: King, Ritter, Colavecchia 160: Easterling, Little, James 171: Wedding, Boots, Lovelace 189: Price, Fentress, Koester 215: Ruggeri, Kercher, Sandwith 285: White, Borkowski, VanWinkle These are my picks for the top 3 at each weight...so where don't we match up Jon H?
  22. Have any Sectionals been predicted to be cancelled? I thought I saw in an earlier post that if even 1 school in the Sectional can't attend, then the Sectional would have to be postponed. Who makes the decision if a team can travel/make it or not? Also, if a Sectional would get cancelled, would the other Sectional(s) that feed into the same Regional be cancelled & made up at the same time? If a Sectional were cancelled & another Sectional that fed into the same Regional was held, then wouldn't it be an unfair advantage to the cancelled Sectional teams because they would know the "seeds" for the Regional before they even wrestled the Sectional? ???
