  1. I think it is very telling that the first two options have 14 total votes (as of the time of this post), while options 4 and 5 have zero combined.
  2. It is true in many cases. I have coached many kids for whom this is a fact. Some actually didn't even participate in college, but the thought of it early in their high school careers caused them to look into college and adjusted much of the way they handled themselves. And small schools with wrestling programs (and track and football and basketball etc) are not all expensive nor have tremendous academic standards. Some are looking to give kids a chance to better their lives and see athletics as a draw.
  3. Exactly...some of these kids might not even be looking to go to college at all if not for a little attention from a D3 wrestling coach. Why not get more kids that kind of attention, thus get more kids thinking they might give the college thing a try?
  4. Are you suggesting that he would be better off not being pursued by the school?
  5. I think the key phrase here is more "college opportunities." It appears some people don't understand that for some of these kids wresting in college is what will get them to even consider going to college.
  6. Sounds logical. Not sure what the argument against this logic is.
  7. What is your basis for the statement "Indiana is finally getting more respect every year"?
  8. Oh, I KNOW you are. You actually got an audible laugh out of me with the most recent comment.
  9. But if it is so good for our state, wouldn't people there be craving the culture change?
  10. How long is the, "Let's go to one class for the individual tournament" thread on the Michigan (or IL, or PA, etc) message board(s)?
  11. He has provided mounds of data to support his claim. It is not enough for someone to say, "Yeah, but what about this data? I am not sure what the data is, but I am pretty sure it supports my point." Once a person makes a statement like that the burden of proof is on him/her. Haha, that's rich:}
  12. I am definitely for, and here are my replies to your considerations: 1. I totally agree, those should be classed provided that the sports have enough participating schools. 2. Correct 3. If you have numbers you think people should see, feel free to run them. Why is it always up to Y2 to run everyone's numbers? 4. Also, correct. I gotta get faster at replying....
  13. Dang, you're so much faster than I am:}
  14. So it should only be fair in respect to qualifiers? Not medal winners or champs?
  15. You only need one move...when it's the camel clutch. I'll take the Iron Sheik version.
  16. Participants argument was specific to sectional entries. At that point, no you cannot make substitutions in the same way you can in basketball. A wrestler either wrestles on that Saturday or he does not.
  17. I have coached two state champions who came from the second smallest school on record to produce a state champ, and the smallest to produce multiple. People went totally bonkers. One year, we had a gym packed with about 1,000 people to watch on big screen (we also hosted a regional-champ girls basketball team that year) and the other a few hundred drove to Indy to make up what (according to my eyes and ears:}) was the loudest crowd in the arena. Then you know what happened? Nothing. Numbers went down after both seasons. You know why? Kids in our small school saw those guys as super heroes who had done something far beyond their reach. Life in a small school is different than life in a big school. That goes for everything from AP scores to essay contests to wrestling state finalists.
  18. Also, on the "freedom of speech" and "dictator" comments, again remember this site is OWNED by Y2. Much like your own home, Y2 allows/invites people onto his website. If someone in your home consistently runs his mouth about things you find strongly disagreeable, you are welcome to have that person leave. That makes you neither a dictator, nor in violation of freedom of speech.
  19. Poor argument, as basketball is allowed substitutions during the game. There are at least 10 players allowed on a basketball sectional roster.
  20. Gotta love a match that include use of the "Boston Crab"
  21. They will probably be forced to shut down for using the wrong name for the product...there's no "d" in shave ice....
  22. Not to mention more butts in the seats means their meaningful match is viewed by more people.
  23. Nice little poster-worthy quote I just heard during the Nebraska Northwestern dual on Big 10 Network... "There's honor and glory in doing the mundane well." - Jordan Burroughs Maybe he ripped that off somewhere else...but it's the first time I've heard it.
  24. I believe it was runner-up, but not sure. I know he lost to Sliga at MS state fo sho.
