  1. When will you be working on these rankings? Could we see the list of schools with wrestling divided into 3 divisions?
  2. Let us know the dates and location of your tournament when you can.
  3. One of the cross country websites does a small and medium school poll. They divide the state into 3 divisions and rank the lower 2. I'm not sure why they do not add the large school divison. I'm guessing it's because there isn't much variation between the regular rankings and the large schools rankings. Here is a link if you want to take a look: http://indianarunner.com/smallschoolpoll.aspx I'm not sure who votes on these either.
  4. Y2, Are you going to do team ranking for the Fort Wayne Semi State this year? I didn't know if you were just not including them this year, or if they were left off because these are pre-season rankings. Just Curious
  5. That is really what I was thinking also. My thought process is that a wrestling program at Ball State would benefit ME! So why wouldn't they consider it? I'm guessing it's because my pockets are around 30 million short of having a say in those types of decisions.
  6. They've had an Open intramural tournament for years. It's mainly a bunch of out of shape former wrestlers having fun. I wish there was some way to make a push for a real team.
  7. Maybe, all of the Ball State alumni could band together and push for a wrestling program. I'm sure it's a very far cry from happening, but I can't imagine how much the Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis areas would benefit by having a Division I program in their back yard. We have fewer Division 1 wrestling programs than all of the surrounding states.............Kentucky doesn't really count does it?
  8. I'm not really sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult Mr. Hungus. Since it is Friday I will take it as a compliment.
  9. The thought that the class system would water down the competition is just looking at it short term. I think in the long run the competition would become stronger. The more kids that experience success, will in turn, garner more wrestlers. The more athletes you have going out for a sport, the less watered down it will be. The idea in general for us in the wrestling community, should be to get more kids on the mat, receiving more attention for wrestling as a whole.
  10. I know this topic has been brought up before, but is there any chance Ball State will revitalize their wrestling program? I think it would be so beneficial for our state to have another Division 1 wrestling program. I haven't heard a push for this in sometime, and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything.
  11. I would say the Bellmont always brings a very strong contingent, and they were absent last year.
  12. I think Coach Tonte has a great idea here. All of us should make an effort to get as many people down to Team State as possible. Bring your wrestling team, wrestling coaches, wrestling fans etc. It truly is an awesome experience, whether your team is there or not. Let's get Center Grove to max capacity!!!!
  13. I think that any small school would be in full support of keeping the current Team State system with the notion of everyone joining together in a movement to class the system as soon a possible. I like "dullguy"'s proposal. All you would need to do is add a few more Team Regional locations along with a separate Team State. We really need to move forward with these ideas before they're irrelevant. To any coach that is wavering on the idea of Team State not representing them, I have had the same feelings at times. But, you have to remember, that a state championship won by tournament scoring in the individual tournament, in no way represents the best wrestling TEAM in the state. I believe that it would also lead to the decline in wrestling participation.
  14. Is attendance falling in the Individual Series?
  15. I think that classing the Team State Series is an option because the current system, isn't working............I guess. I think the Individual Wrestling Tournament series, is working, so why change it?
  16. I believe that they are classing soccer next year. How hard would it be to class the Team State tournament? I'm sure we could come up with 3 proposals, vote on one, plan to implement it the next year, and still have time to watch Vision Quest that evening. I think the key to this would be saying; We are classing the Team State Tournament. We are in no way considering classing the Individual Tournament.
  17. My comments: I think that it is a terrible thing for us as a wrestling community to LOSE a part of our tournament. I also think that wrestlebacks, and team state should NEVER be in the same argument. Let's leave those two separate. Having the Individual tournament determine our team state champion is completely inaccurate, and in no way represents the best TEAM. I think that if we are against this, even if it is a done deal, we need to make our voices heard: http://www.ihsaa.org/dnn/About/CurrentInfo/ExecutiveStaff/tabid/110/Default.aspx Coach Snyder, I think that you provided a very well written response, and I agree with you fully. I do not think the experience of wrestling at Team State should be taken away from any of the kids that work so hard to get there. I wish there was a way to have every wrestling team wrestle a dual meet in the state tournament series though. I may be unrealistic to consider a Sectional duals, but I think that opportunity for every team would really increase interest and participation in our sport. I'm sure that I sound crazy, asking for another level in the dual portion of the tourney, when we are losing the entire thing, but I feel like a Sectional dual tourney would garner interest locally, that would progress on to regional and state. Just an idea. My Questions: What do we do, and where do we go from here? Is there anyway that we could put together a Team State Series through the IHSWCA? Why does the elimination of the Team State series seem so hush hush? Is the IHSAA afraid of the backlash? I've talked to several very active member of the wrestling community, that were first informed by ME about this issue. I think we need to get the word out as much as possible, before they slide this card under the table. Contact friends, family members, former wrestling, and most importantly, THE MEDIA!!! Let's NOT be run over!
  18. In that case, I would wager to say that he signs with Strikeforce.
  19. Glad to hear he is living. We will keep him in our prayers!
  20. Who is Dave interested in signing with? Strikeforce? Any chance of the UFC?
  21. Any movie involving John Cena immediately should receive Oscar buzz.
