  1. The Evansville Scurrier and Suppress Cover Wrestling? If they can fit it in after the 300 articles on U.K. Basketball (WE LIVE IN INDIANA YOU TWITS!) and the always rivetting Intermural Team Underwater Ping Pong scores from U. of E. I am sure there are a lot of U.K. fans around here, but let them drive to Henderson and read about U.K. in the Henderson Gleener! Let's use that valuable space in an Indiana paper to actually cover a REAL atheletic competition for once! The only writter on the Suppress staff I know of that has covered wrestling at all is David Jackson, and he does a pretty fair job when he can sneak a story passed his editors.
  2. We - as the Wrestling Community - have to find a way of educating the masses as to the merits and pureness of the sport. I have met MANY people who have no direct connection to any one team, never wrestled themselves, and don't have any relationship to any of the kids, that sit in the bleechers every chance they get because they have gained a love of the sport somewhere in the past. I have noticed that the smaller schools seem to have a higher fan participation base. Of course this is just a personal observation and by no means scientific, but when a 2 A school without a full team can bring more fans than a 5A school with complete teams...I think you can see my point. Wrestling isn't for everyone, as a competitor OR as a fan. Some people just can't grasp it, nor can they stomach it. So the observation I ask you to consider from this is: Maybe Wrestling Fans are just as GREAT as the kids who dedicate themselves to the sport we all love! When I was in school, our wrestling team was rather successful, and our basketball team had trouble winning and inner-squad scrimmage (literally!). I once asked one of our cheerleaders when they might show up to a meet and show support for us (JUST ONCE). Her response was rather telling "Oh you guys always win" she said. I explained I wasn't asking them to come and cheer, I just wanted to see the appointed leaders of High School Spirit to show up and possibly bring some of their friends with them...They never showed up, but obviously we didn't need their help. ;D Will wrestling ever be mainstream? In someways I hope not. We certainly don't need "just average" types hanging around... ;D
  3. That is Excellent! I just may have to catch a few rounds of this one!
  4. The Evansville Harrison 10 Way is always a fine tourney! Some serious talent shows up for that weekend and provides some quality matches! Have there been any changes to the teams that will be there from the last couple of years?
  5. I would like to add my thanks and congrats to Y2 for this site! I have run many sites in my life and I know it can be a HUGE undertaking and keeping it running is just the tip of the iceberg! Thank You for giving us a place to be, and most of all a place free of all the drama on that other site. To this point I can honestly say that everyone has been open to discussion and not so insanely argumentative like they were "over there". It's really nice to discuss the sport we all love with the hassles!
  6. They did very well at the Evansville Memorial Tourney last weekend...should be interesting...
  7. Last Years Teams...Any Changes? Bloomington North Castle Heritage Martinsville Mooresville Northview Princeton Terre Haute North
  8. Topic is now locked...Monday is the start of a new week for all concerned! Great day of wrestling from all the teams! It was a great event!
  9. On that's Monday mornings at 3 am! LOL Be careful though...they ran my profile and I got 47 voice mails from someone named "Fearless Fly" asking me out for coffee!
  10. I think (and please correct me if I am wrong) what they are trying to say is the dual was actually closer than the score appears. 7 matches were decided by 1 or 2 points, it may have been 8 as I don't have the score of the 171 match. One pin was given up by both teams. No Major Decisions or Tech Falls. In otherwords, 12 or 13 3 point matches and one 6 point match. Mater Dei beat Castle...that fact is in the History Books. They seized each opportunity to win as a championship team will do that much is obvious. But as always, when you look over meet scores, it's always best to look a bit deeper and see if the match scores were 7-0 or 1-0...there is a HUGE difference regardless of who wins or loses. That being said...a loss is a loss just as a win is a win. Mater Dei perfromed...Castle didn't.
  11. Oh I am POSITIVE you will see a great deal of improvement in all areas of Castle's perfomance yesterday. This is a truly solid group of wrestlers who had an uncharacteristly bad bad day. The coaches and the boys will pull it all together. No Excuses, No Whinning, Just a Lesson in what one bad day can do. I am positive these young men are rather unhappy with their performance yesterday and that may be the best thing in the world for them at the moment! I know they will use this expirence to a positive end. As for what will happen down the road...that remains to be seen...It's up to them to make this the year they want. With all due respect to Mater Dei...Mater Dei wasn't what beat Castle yesterday, Castle beat Castle. Mater Dei seized the opportunities given to them as a good team will do. On that given day they came out on top. Honestly, Jeffersonville impressed me with not only their perfomance, but the sense of TEAM they brought to Castle yesterday. These kids backed each and every wrestler that took the mat in a Red Devil singlet yesterday. If I had them on the schedule from here on out, I wouldn't over look them!
  12. Castle will be at Mt Vernon this year! Can't wait to get out there to Posey County! Should be a great day of wrestling! I expect that the score may be lopsided in Castle's favor, but the wrestling will be close . . . if that makes sense. If Mt. Vernon wrestles their top lineup. It seems like last year Mt. Vernon put in a lot of JV for a match against Castle. Mt Vernon has a strong tradition of great atheletes and a respectable wrestling program. Never one to over look! If I remember correctly Reitz will be there also...
  13. Sorry to the Castle Faithful, but we can blame the loss not on a ref or a call here or there, but just plain not wrestling well all day. Not just against Mater Dei, but from Round One to the end. We were just flat from the first whistle. Gentlemen, you are better than the performance we witnessed today. Sorry if that is to direct for some, but it IS the truth. Congrats to Mater Dei for wrestling tough all day, and to Jeffersonville for coming in and making the day interesting. Bloomington South is very respectable as you would expect year in and year out! Jasper and Forest Park both represented themselves very well. Each have very tough individuals who stand a great chance at making to SS or beyond.
  14. Well if today is any example...the trips will be less than fun! FYI - Jeffersonville has a pretty tough group of kids!
  15. It's still early yet...and many teams have not made their anual trips out of there local areas for tourneys...Christmas Break Time should start to let the rankings begin to separate the chaff from the wheat. Even so, it's just a ranking...not anything worth banking on in most cases.
  16. I notice the individual ranking list Adam Weinzapfel at 135 for MD. Has he been on the mat yet this year? I can't keep my Weinzapfel's straight! ;D
  17. So he was on TV in Kentucky? ;D Them folks on the Moving Pitcher Box is so clueless!
  18. Isn't America's Most Wanted on Saturdays? ;D
  19. In order to have a young man considered, I think those who do the rankings need background info on the kids. A young man like Hall is a known quantity. Duckworth is - as of this moment - an unknown quantity. Providing as much detail to the rankings folks as possible wold go a long way in making his case. I am sure they would appreciate as much info as possible on the past and present perfomance of Mr Duckworth (or any other wrestler) to be considered. In short, you have to Help Them Understand...
  20. Just curious...What matches of note has Duckworth had this year?
  21. It's great to hear that the ladies are still active in wrestling!
  22. Not gonna lie, that is one of the strangest and most homosexual stories I have heard in my entire life. This is why we, the wrestlers, are labeled gay. Thanks, thanks a lot for a story that should have just stayed unknown. You may also want to thank the Fly for bring out one of the Worlds Oldest Wrestling Jokes and using it as his own expirence ;D Now just where did you think that joke came from? Huh BlueBolt? ??? ff Well the first time I heard it...It was an American versus a Soviet wrestler back in the OLD DAYS when I was a kid. But then I am sure the exact same thing could happen twice to two different people, now if it happened twice to the SAME person - thats a different story!
  23. Sometimes you have to use words the reader understands ;D
