  1. http://www.chronicle-tribune.com/articles/2010/01/18/news/doc4b53efd91e8e9271538496.txt MIER ? The future of Oak Hill wrestling appears secure, thanks in part to an emerging feeder program. Already a local power for the past 30 years, the Oak Hill Wrestling Club is cultivating a large group of youngsters for the high school team. The club hosted a meet Friday evening with two Kokomo area teams in the high school gym. By Chuck Landis clandis@chronicle-tribune.com
  2. Inside MMA on HDNet, had an hour special with Dan Gable all about college wrestling and the rivalry between OSU and Iowa. My DVR is set to record at 10
  3. Agreed, Saw some very good matches. Only suggestion I would have, is to have the 13-14 on a full, or at least half mat. I think they could have done it the way they set up, but still a good day. Thanks, Whitko!
  4. Oh, and the kids can't wear tiger striped undies either!
  5. We have had white singlets for 4 years in our club, blood is not an issue at all. All you do is soak them in cold water, spray and wash, hang to dry.
  6. Good, how about yourself? What does Brendon weigh? We start the 2nd.....of....February!!
  7. Just wondering if we are actually the last school to have offical middle school practice? When do you start?
  8. I sent an email to you, or someone with Whitko. Are you guys interested in coming to OH for a Friday night friendship meet?
  9. email me your weigh in sheet. How many are you expecting? oakhillwrestling(at)aol.com
  10. Nope, I know Kern is good, not sure who the others might be. I know they had a kid around 75-80 last year, called him Mikey. He was tough as nails also.
  11. In what program? They have another "move in", this one from cass that is a stud. And little Kern will be a freshman, he's pretty good too.
  12. What's his name, we have paid positions open!
  13. Yes, Coach Hobbs sent out emails confirming this. Due to consecutive days with school and practice cancellation we will add 2 pounds to the weight classes tomorrow. Please inform Wrestling Coach at your school Example 103 pound wt. class can weigh 107 pounds tomorrow at PERU. Your AD will get an official email from my AD in regard to this issue. If you have any questions feel free to call Andy Hobbs, Coach at PERU Andy Hobbs Peru Wrestling
  14. So if someone weighs 123, and wrestles 119 with both 2 pound allowances, how long till he can be back down to 121, by the rules?
  15. I was reading our local paper today, and had an idea. You try it and see what you get. I counted every time I seen the word basketball. 26. Then I counted how many times wrestling appeared. 1. I used the first 3 pages of the sports page. I am in the process of writing a letter to the editor, even though it won't do any good. See what you come up with and post it here.
  16. Is this change just in Indiana? (probably a dumb question that has already been answered on here, but oh well)
  17. And there is only one 1A school in our regional, 8 (2A), 6 (3A), and 2 (4A) if you use the Volleyball, baseball ratings.
  18. I don't think he was trying to argue for or against our sectional at all. Just stating the facts. Honestly, the worse part is, our area, as a whole, was stronger last year than this year. But give it a few more years. There are some very good club kids coming through a bunch of the schools in our area, if they stick with it and keep improving. Eastern, Western, Wabash, Peru, Huntington North, Oak Hill, Eastern, Northwestern, Maconaquah, Wabash County and Kokomo all have clubs. Most have popped up in the last 3-4 years, so give it time. But having a team that could win at the state, top to bottom, is unlikely, because we have to go to Ft. Wayne, Indy, or the region to get tougher compitition, so the cost is more for our kids.
  19. Kyler is up to 122? what are you feeding him? We need some! Good job PM
  20. Our middle school starts Feb. 1st! Any team we took would have been club only anyway.
  21. As of November 28, 2009: 1. Yorktown Middle School 2. Perry Meridian MS 3. Greenfield Central MS 4. Westfield MS 5. Muncie Wilson MS This was the last list. We were going to try, but with these weight classes we would have had at least 2-3 forfeits and several solid kids without a spot. We would have been the 6th place team with this list any way, but it would have been neat to just participate. Good luck to those involved.
