  1. He said in no particular order.
  2. I agree and another couple very young and talented big men were @ 220 - South Spencer (Shaw - Sophomore) and Mt. Vernon (Choate - Freshman) are both crazy athletic and agressive. Rickenbaugh 170 from Heritage Hills - WOW - I see he has one defeat on the year - who beat him? I assume it is somone from out of the area? It's always difficult when a senior finishes his career. It was never more evident for me than in the 195 class when Neblett from Bosse failed to advance. I don't know him personally but I've cheered for him throughout the years as he has steadily improved and stuck with it. I respect the coaching staff at Bosse - you can just tell they really care about their kids.
  3. Glad to see Wright back for Sectionals. It should be a good one between Wright and Little in the finals. Contrasting styles.
  4. 106: JA 113: WA 120: JA 126: JA 132: WA 138: JA 145: JA 152: JA 160: JA 170: WA 180: JA 195: SR 220: JA 285: SR

  7. I was impressed with the Freshman Leyman from MD @ 113. I thought the win over Kuhn may have been a fluke but he followed that up with a battle against Brown (CA) in the finals - losing a close one. Dominate wresters were / are: Ferguson ® 106, Welch (CA) 126, and Kelly (CE) 145. Schneider (MD) 170 and Lane (N) 182 also looked dominate yesterday but both weight classes seem to be down this year. 132 is stacked with Meiring (CA), Pierre (MD), Johns ® and Wedding (ME). Any given day you could switch this order around and it would be hard to argue. A full strength Wedding would be considered the favorite but all are very close. Congrats to Central with the 4 champs and 2nd place team finish.
  8. I guess I've been out of the mix too long. :'( I thought someone would've posted the brackets by now. At the very least, send me a PM or email with the top 4 - if you wanted to keep it a secret for some reason!!
  9. Even though North Posey will FF several weights - they still have the guys to score enough to come in 4th.
  10. Here are the results from last year. I noticed many of the big boys are still around. Not sure about the little guys. Team Champs: Heritage Hills Team Scores: Heritage Hills 244, Southridge 212, Gibson So. 157, Tell City 151, North Posey 149, South Spencer 137, Pike Central 106.5, Tecumseh 88, Forest Park 81. Individual champions: 106: Mason Waninger (Tell City) 113: Tyler Stock (North Posey) 120: Cordell Miller (Heritage Hills) 126: Jessie Lawalin (Tell City) 132: Justin Alvares (Tell City) 138: Michael Frymire (North Posey) 145: Chase Singleton (Gibson Southern) 152: Luke Mundy (Southridge) 160: Swade Oser (Heritage Hills) 170: Angus Stetter (Southridge) 182: Gabe Konerding (Heritage Hills) 195: Kalob Salkill (South Spencer) 220: Jared Boehm (Heritage Hills) 285: Ethan Schwoeppe (Southridge)
  11. From the IHSAA website 31. Castle (10) Boonville, Castle, Evansville Bosse, Evansville Harrison, Evansville Memorial, Evansville Reitz, Heritage Hills, Mt. Vernon, South Spencer, Tell City. 32. Evansville Central (10) Evansville Central, Evansville Mater Dei, Evansville North, Gibson Southern, North Posey, Pike Central, Princeton, Tecumseh, Vincennes Lincoln, Wood Memorial.
  12. I thought I would start a new thread since the other SIAC discussion was all over the place. Here is my stab at the #1 Seeds. It's difficult to put together in the absence of individual results posted from Evansville. 106: Ferguson - Reitz 113: Kuhn - Reitz 120: Johnson - MD 126: Welch - Castle 132: Wedding - Memorial 138: Kemper - Central 145: Kelley - Central 152: No idea? I would like to see Wimpleberg drop. 160: Parkinson - MD 170: Schneider - MD 182: Lane - North 195: ?? 220: ?? Not sure about MD kid coming back? I guess Barnes - Memorial? 285: Wright - MD Help me out people. I'm not sure about head to heads, weight changes, etc.
  13. We've struggled with this for years but this year has been almost non-existent. MD/Reitz was competing with the SIAC Basketball tournament last week but you would think the dual would rate some coverage. I do believe (and hope) coverage will ramp up for the SIAC, Sectionals, etc. I'm sure when the Lee boy gets to MD next year - Steve Ford will cut down on the winter fishing articles and dedicate some space for the phenom.
  14. Can someone please post the match scores and the list of undefeated wrestlers for the day? I had hoped it would be in today's Evansville courier.
  15. if you didn't go to the meet there's really no way to actually get a sense for how it unfolded. The match was much closer than the final score indicates. MD jumped out big early with some pins and close decisions. Winning the first match by pin while trailing got them off to a great start. I was very impressed with Wimpleberg, the no call on the takedown at the buzzer was huge. I'm not saying it was a bad call but it could have went either way - and of course - I thought it was a takedown . Kuhn not getting bonus points at 113 was another boost for MD. MD wins the 120 match 1-0 with a penalty pt. for stalling in the 2nd with Reitz riding legs. MD rode legs the entire 3rd period with no stalling called. The only difference I could see was that MD wasn't active on bottom in the 2nd which made it look more like a stall on top? Reitz was active on bottom in the 3rd but couldn't escape the legs. These 2 guys will battle again for the next few weeks - just like last year. I just hate to see a scoreless match decided by a penalty point. The 126 match was very exciting and active. 132 was a close one with MD clinching the match with the decison. The final match had Reitz just trying some high risk stuff with MD doing a great job of countering and taking advantage of mistakes. Another great crowd and atmosphere....................too bad it wasn't covered in the Courier or TV!!
  16. Results from the past 5 years: 2012: MD 43 - Reitz 26 2011: MD 38 - Reitz 13 2010: Reitz 36 - MD 21 2009: MD 39 - Reitz 22 2008: MD 29 - Reitz 20
  17. 113: #7 Brown (Castle) vs. #8 Kuhn (Reitz) both are undefeated
  18. Historically, this match is exciting regardless of the final score. I know it has been for the past 18 years that I've been going. The attendance is typically one of top totals in the state and would surpass 95% of college duals.
  19. I have yet to watch Reitz this year. In fact, I've only watched a total of 2 hours of live wrestling - 1 hour of College at U of Indy watching Alex Johns and about an hour at the MD classic. I will have more input once the tournament series rolls around. However, 9-5 MD or 8-6 MD is probably about right. Reitz and MD have plenty of holes with MD having the best chance to fill them. It does seem as if Reitz is starting to put together some decent performances .......................so, a shocker here and there and some bonus points - you never know.
  20. Watching a few North Posey football games this year I saw a big change in Little's agressiveness. If he carries this over into wrestling -he will be a beast. Thanks Navy80 for putting together the summary..................it creates more excitement and anticipation for the big match-ups.
  21. If you're not completely committed to wrestling (whether it be due to your heart or your health) - it can be a brutal experience. Sounds like football is his best bet.
  22. I remember my son winning as a Freshman at 138 or whatever the weight was back then? It's defenitely tougher the higher the weight class but it's not unheard of.................
