  1. Mtv2112, Not sure what you mean by that? Our guy beats their guy in the previous tournament so you root against him the rest of the way. You say "turnabout is fair play" I say "sour grapes". AngryIrishman, No need to respond - you make yourself look bad enough. My rule of thumb for local SIAC, Big 8, and PAC wrestlers is that I cheer for them anytime they're wrestling against teams from outside of the area. I'm fairly certain most people in our area have the same mindset. I'm not calling out ALL MD fans - I'm sure some were not cheering for Rieker but from my vantage point (straight across) it appeared so.
  2. Vanhook 6-1 Sad day on the westside when a LARGE portion of the MD crowd were cheering for Rieker (CE) against Moody (Reitz)
  3. My son and I were sitting in the Iowa section that day....................they were shocked to say the least!
  4. I believe they?re having the Fraternity matches during intermission ? 4 matches. My son is wrestling in the 155-165 class. He said he had to cut a few lbs. this week just like the old days Should be fun! They have some good wrestlers in the Frats and walking around campus ? his opponent is a 2009 Illinois runner-up
  5. Castle Regional had 4 135: Freymire (NP) over Wetzel (SS) 140: Keith (CE) over Singleton (GS) 145: Appell ® over Seiler (BN) 171: Haire (BN) over Brandenstein (MD) Almost had another at 215 with Wright (MD) narrowly escaping Knight (GS) 14-13.
  6. I was impressed with Wood Memorial. Not necessarily known for their wrestling but are 1 of only 10 teams sending multiple wrestlers to the semi-state. Good planning also having practice partners this week at 189 and 215. 13: Mater Dei 7: Reitz and Castle 6: Central 5: Princeton 4: Memorial 3: North Posey and Mt. Vernon 2: Wood Memorial and Heritage Hills 1: Boonville, Harrison, North, and South Spencer 0: Bosse, Gibson Southern, Tecumseh and Tell City.
  7. I doubt if Chad Welch has given up many (or any) offensive points this year so the reversal by Rickenbaugh was quite impressive. He had Welch in a couple of other scramble situations that were fun to watch but Chad is just on another level.
  8. Okay, back to my favorite hobby of bragging on Reitz and Evansville Central Sectional guys. Reitz had 7 qualifiers (a little below my expectation but not too bad), they also had 4 champs (which was the most of any team), and all 7 qualifiers finished higher than Mater Dei in their class As far as the Evansville Sectional, we had 38 of the 56 Semi-state qualifiers and 21 of the 28 wrestlers in the finals. added the SIAC: 41 of the 56 qualifiers and also 21 of 28 in the finals.
  9. I agree that people should not make light of injuries. However, this is a message board for discussion. If you can't post your opinion or disagree with others - we might as well just post the results and tell everyone great job and move on.
  10. Thanks Mr. Obvious - I was talking about the 1st round not the ticket round and our Fair is in August!
  11. It is unfair to the Regional champ that Simms will wrestle. If you are a Regional champ, you don't have to wrestle a Regional champ to go to State. It may not matter year in year out - but this is an unusual and unfortunate situation.
  12. Bleeder, Meth Labs no - Busch Light YES. Crown Point has an intimidating line-up for sure. However, Mater Dei is excited to be back and will have a game plan to keep bonus points (against) to a minimum.
  13. So, the 3 Welches all had Tech Falls and Brown won by fall against MD for the 21 points...............any details on the Brandenstein / Warren match?
  14. Just Sayin, I'm not sure who NiceShot is but he/she does have a fascination with the Mastison / Johns match-up. You seem to have some deep rooted issues with the Reitz coaching staff. From looking at your past posts you are likely from Mt. Vernon. On a positive note, Konrath showed great sportsmanship after the championship match at Sectionals. You could tell he was disappointed but had that "I will see you again next week" look on his face.
  15. Good stuff - thanks for the info!
  16. The big difference between last year 33/56 (Central sectional semi-state qualifiers) and this year is basically Mater Dei and Castle. Mater Dei was down last year by their standards sending 10 and Castle was solid sending 11 (I believe). This year Mater Dei will advance 13 or 14 and Castle will advance between 4-6.
  17. Simms won't wrestle in Team Regional either - he won't need to - Mater Dei will walk through. I expect him to forfeit to Welch in the Championship match at Regionals. Then, hopefully if healthy, match up with Welch in the championship at Semi-state.
  18. If you're talking about the AngryIrishman - it looks like 41/56 and I think his picks look reasonable.
  19. You're probably right? I just realized I advanced all 14 for Mater Dei to the Semi State. Also, I was a huge Central Sectional HOMER. I'm sure it's happened before but how many times has a team advanced everyone to the Semi-State?
  20. welcome back Bluebolt - were you waiting for the State Tournament to start posting again?
  21. My picks without seeing the brackets and spending the last couple of hours at BWW ;D Not sure all the scenarios are possible with the bracketing but this is my first draft. 103: kuhn ®, Stock (NP), Seng (MD) Alldredge (N) 112: Goebel (MD), Johns ®, Mastison (H), Karges (PR) 119: Vanhook ®, Welch (CA), Wedding (ME), Pierre (MD) 125: Moody ®, Henderson (MD), Greismer (PR), Lawalin (TC) 130: Hoehn (MV), Mangold (MD), Brown (CA), Kelley (CE) 135: Konrath (MV), Dowdy ®, Schroeder (MD), Wetzell (SS) 140: Reuger ®, Lannert (MD), Hodge (ME), Singleton (GS) 145: Whetstine (ME), Chamberlin (CE), Riggs (MD), Appel ® 152: Welch (CA), Weinzapfel (MD), Marshall (MV), Prasek (ME) 160: Welch (CA), Simms (MD), Rickenbaugh (HH), Garnett (CE) 171: Stein (PR), Brandenstein (MD), King ®, Oser (HH) 189: Boots (MD), Sandwith (ME), Halbig (PR), Bender (HH) 215: Wright (MD), Boehme (HH), Schnarr ®, Barcly (SS) 285: Vanwinkle (MD), O'connel (MV), Little (NP), Hohle (CE)
  22. Mater Dei is an impressive machine with 10 in the finals and all 14 advancing. Reitz had 7 in the finals and take 11 to regionals.
