  1. Great win the Vikings. They have really improved this year, and you'll notice that they had to FF at 189. If they can fill that spot again, they should definitely win sectionals and I see no reason why they can't at least be a contender in what turns out to be a pretty weak Regional.
  2. I saw that one coming from 3 or 4 counties away.....
  3. I know this isn't a great way to judge teams, but Merrillville 62 LaPorte 6 Crown Point 45 LaPorte 14 Yorktown 58 LaPorte 12 SB Clay 40 LaPorte 35 Munster 37 LaPorte 25
  4. I think it is fairly obvious that Clay has gotten the credit for beating Yorktown. The fact that they are ranked at all can ONLY be contributed to the fact that they did beat Yorktown, as they don't have a win over another ranked opponent. My job is to rank the teams with their current varsity lineups. The team that Yorktown wrestled at New Haven beats SB Clay in my opinion, and that's the end of that argument for me.
  5. I think the most telling score is that they only lost to a very good Portage team 34-33 while missing some of those upper weight guys.
  6. Here is the newest set of rankings (with some explanations below). 1. Mishawaka (13-0) 2. Perry Meridian (10-0) 3. Ev. Mater Dei (12-0) 4. Merrillville (13-0) 5. Castle (10-1) 6. Crown Point (6-1) 7. Bloomington South (10-2) 8. Portage (8-3) 9. Franklin (13-3) 10. Ev. Reitz (9-0) 11. Yorktown (22-1) 12. Cathedral (8-2) 13. New Palestine (18-2) 14. SB Clay (21-1) 15. Penn (7-1) 16. Jeffersonville (8-3) 17. Roncalli (4-3) 18. Carmel (2-0) 19. Lawrence North (6-4) 20. Bellmont (15-2) Also Considered:New Castle, Pike, Warren Central A few notes: I received several updates on teams that I dropped last week (i.e. Yorktown, Cathedral) and witnessed a new lineup for another (Bellmont) that changed my outlook on those teams. I also realize that elevating them back up a week after dropping them may not be popular. However, if I made these rankings every week trying to please everyone and to get the least amount of complaints, they would not be very accurate or trustworthy. If you take a step back, I think you realize that Yorktown is most likely the better team than SB Clay, despite the loss 2 weeks ago. We've also seen Cathedral bring a few guys back that did not wrestle at the Traicoff Invite, greatly improving their teams. My Top 10 stays the same, as I think there is a definite divide between the Top 10 and bottom 10 now. (With maybe the exception of Yorktown) We are starting to learn more about Penn, and I will admit that they were most likely underrated for the last few weeks. Jeffersonville placed ahead of a solid Carmel team this weekend, moving them up. The Team Scores at the Marion County Tournament were probably the most difficult results to integrate into this week's rankings. Do they show parity in Central Indiana..... or do they show that those teams in Marion County were just a bit overrated at the beginning of the year? (I'm going somewhere in between.) Bellmont has made shifts in weight from 112-145 and I believe is definitely a better team than earlier in the year, but they move into #20 more because of Warren Central's lack of a quality win (and LN's drop) and Pike's terrible showing at Marion County (which I know is not a true picture of how much Pike has improved, but......) Let the debate begin.... (and by all means, please give me more info to build on. If your team is ranked too low, send me their team scores so far this year so that I can update my notes).
  7. Here are the current records that I have for teams under consideration. Please e-mail or message me any results from this weekend that have not been posted or help me out with other results from earlier this year. Bellmont 15-2 Bloomington South 10-2 Carmel 2-0 Castle 10-1 Cathedral 5-2 Crown Point 6-1 Elkhart Memorial 7-2 Ev. Mater Dei 12-0 Ev. Reitz 9-0 Franklin 13-3 Jeffersonville 8-3 Lawrence North 6-4 Merrillville 12-0 Mishawaka 13-0 Munster 15-6 New Castle 15-3 New Palestine 13-2 Penn 7-1 Perry Meridian 9-0 Pike 8-3 Portage 8-3 Roncalli 4-3 SB Clay 14-1 Warren Central 2-2 Westfield 8-3 Yorktown 22-1
  8. Is the seeding meeting before or after Christmas?
  9. by far................ best part of the movie ;D
  10. I need suggestions for matches taking place on Saturday to pick from, otherwise we will have to wait till the schedules are back up. (although I haven't checked if they are since this afternoon)
  11. As I keep saying, my rankings are a strict picture of what has happened in the season SO FAR. I just got reamed in my own hometown paper (the writer there thinks that Bellmont should be 9th), so keep the criticism coming As for the Westfield vs. LN debacle, next week's rankings will reflect this error on the results page. (It will also shake up the rankings a little bit.) O, and I am pretty sure that if I would have ranked Crown Point any lower than #2 in the first sets of rankings, I would have lost my job......
  12. I think Y2 is still tweaking the site, so I can't look ahead to all of this week's matches. I guess we will have to take nominations today for matches on Saturday. A lot of teams are idle this weekend so we will try to find 4 or 5 matches. Munster vs. SB Clay Any ideas?
  13. I'm wondering (maybe hoping) that this might lead to some Conference restructuring. I am not sure how the Olympic conference could continue to exist after losing another school.
  14. Check out the updated standings on the opening post of this thread. rdrodd1 is the new longest overall streak holder with 8 jwkwrestler is the active streak holder at 7 Top Pick'Ems last week: (7-2) littlevito ontherise219 decbell1 throwforfive
  15. Could you explain to me where it says Westfield beat Lawrence North??????????? If they did, that really throws a wrench in all of the central Indiana spots. According to the results page, LN finished ahead of Westfield and beat them 35-34.
  16. lol, yes, that is exactly the logical place to put such a team
  17. But I think that is why they are a joke. As an avid follower of my Alma Mater, Butler. I know that no matter whom Butler beats, as long as they win their game in a week, and a team in front of them loses (to anyone), that Butler automatically moves up ahead of them. This is what makes rankings so bad. If you keep basing it off of the previous week, then it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I did not try to cut down on discussion, I actually appreciate the fact that so many people pay attention to them. I would just like to see people point out holes in the rankings, rather than making a somewhat vague and negative remark, that's all.
  18. Although answering back with sarcasm or your rudeness would be much easier, I'll just reply with facts. Penn has not wrestled anyone yet to show me they belong in the top 20. "Destroying" teams that are not anywhere close to the Top 20 doesn't show a whole lot. I guarantee that all 20 teams in this week's rankings would have won the Charger Invite. As previously stated, I don't look at the previous week's rankings when I rank the current the top 20. If it's any consolation, Penn was #21, and Jeffersonville, although losing three times, had a very, very strong showing at Jasper this weekend, and is definitely deserving of a Top 20 Ranking. Are there any more spots that you want to bash, or are you only picking one team a week?
  19. What a tough set of rankings this week. Spots 2-6 are really up for grabs. One note: I start from scratch every week and never consult last week's rankings to do this week's. That being said, I try to look at each team's entire body of work for the entire season each and every time I set up these rankings. Also, there are a lot of results missing from some of these teams, and I can only go by what I have been given. 1. Mishawaka (11-0) 2. Perry Meridian (9-0) 3. Evansville Mater Dei (10-0) 4. Merrillville (12-0) 5. Castle (5-1) 6. Crown Point (5-1) 7. Bloomington South (10-2) 8. Portage (7-3) 9. Franklin Community (9-3) 10. Evansville Reitz (2-0) 11. New Palestine (13-2) 12. Roncalli (3-3) 13. SB Clay (8-1) 14. Yorktown (17-1) 15. Carmel (2-0) 16. Lawrence North (7-3) 17. Cathedral (5-2) 18. Pike (7-3) 19. Warren Central (2-2) 20. Jeffersonville (7-3) Also under consideration: Bellmont, Munster, New Castle, Penn
  20. I will get things figured out tomorrow, I am having quite the time trying to get this week's rankings in order.
  21. Does anyone else think that this counts as one of the biggest dual meet upsets in the entire state over the last ten years?
