  16. 103 Semis ( 1 Seed vs. 5 Seed) & ( 3 Seed vs. 2 Seed) 6 of 8 Seeding in Top 8 Remain 112 #1 vs #4 & #3 vs. #7 7 of 8 119 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #2 5 of 8 125 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #2 6 of 8 130 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #2 8 of 8 135 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #7 6 of 8 140 #1 vs. #5 & #3 vs. #2 7o of 8 145 NS vs. #5 & #6 vs. #2 6 of 8 152 #1 vs. #5 & #6 vs. #2 6 of 8 160 #1 vs. #5 & #3 vs. #2 8 of 8 171 #1 vs. #4 & NS vs. #2 7 of 8 189 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #2 7 of 8 215 #1 vs. #4 & #3 vs. #2 6 of 8 285 #1 vs. #4 & NS vs. #2 5 of 8 Total number of seeded wrestlers were 112, which 90 of them still remain which means they will place Top 8. For those of you keeping track at home that is an 80% clip of the way the wrestlers were seeded. To show some further numbers: 13 of 14 #1 Seeds remain alive in the Semi-Finals ( Only 1 has been put competely out) 12 of 14 #2 Seeds remain alive in the Semi-Finals (1 Completely out) 9 of 14 #3 Seeds in Semis ( 1 Completely Out) 9 of 14 # 4 Seeds in Semis ( 2 Out) 5 of 14 #5 Seeds in Semis (2 Out) 3 of 14 #6 Seeds in Semis (4 out) 2 of 14 #7 Seeds in Semis (5 Out) 0 of 14 # 8 Seeds in Semis (6 Out) I guess what I am trying to say is nice job coaches, looks like you accomplished what most of us know, let's try and keep the two best wrestlers on opposite sides for some nice Finals matches.
  17. Well put by Spider Monkey and mikev, the goal should be to make sure the Top 2 kids are seperated and wrestling in the finals. Looks like that was accomplished. Looking forward to some good wrestling over the next two days.
  18. I am pretty sure the Big 3 Holiday tournaments everyone compares are the Al Smith, Mater Dei, and Connersville. I have been to 2 of the 3 (Al Smith and Mater Dei) and wrestled in 1 ( Al Smith). I would say that the caliber of teams overall has to go to Al Smith. Mater Dei is tough tourney but I just did not feel the same atmosphere down there that the Al Smith provides. There are always great suprises, big upsets, breakout wrestlers, and possible previews of State Final matches at the Al Smith. I believe there are less wrestlers who have won the Al Smith 4 times than wrestlers have won State 4 times! 32 Teams, full wrestlebacks, and usually an excellent run tournament getting out of there at a decent hour on the second day. Wrestling fans could not ask for much more that the Al Smith provides for two days. I guess if I had one complaint it would be the split gym format on the first day, but that is nit picking. Looking forward to making it out there and observing some great wrestling for the first time this year.
  19. If we are comparing this to State, then most of the 22% of State ranked wrestlers here must be from small schools. I believe I have been told that 75% of the field of state is made up of big schools. ;D
  20. To steal a method from y2: [sarcasm] I can't believe you guys are putting this much pressure on this kid at such a young age. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Will someone please lock this topic! [/sarcasm]
