  1. If you haven't seen it already, you should go watch the press conference for this event. I think it is on allelbows.com. It is hilarious. Big time style and personality clash between these two. It will be a great fight.
  2. Machida is the huge favorite in Vegas. I think Rashad has a chance if he doesn't get caught up in chasing Machida around. I will admit I got tired of Machida being "elusive", but he whooped Thiago Silva. The only thing elusive in that fight was Silva's consciousnous. I will take Machida by boring UD or by surprising KO.
  3. Shields showed in his last fight against Paul Daley that he is not a very good striker. He even had trouble finishing once it went to the ground and Daley is awful on the ground. Lawler wins by KO as long as he keeps it standing.
  4. I will second Ruggeri. He not only won state, but he pinned everyone with the same throw (over-over). Not only that, but he beat Larimore in the finals and I don't think anyone not from Mt. Vernon expected that.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I hoped that Purdue would have one since Erickson coaches there. I will look into it.
  6. I am interested in attending a heavyweight camp or clinic as a coach. I have been looking online and I have found a few. Bruce Baumgartner's camp seems to be the most publicised. I was hoping to find something a little closer. I know Purdue and IU both have camps, but they don't specifically mention heavyweight technique. Does anyone have a suggestion about a good heavyweight camp?
  7. Columbus East will be having one on Mondays. The time listed is wrong. We had to reschedule them. The time will be 5:00-6:30. The first one will be March 2.
  8. That is pretty cool too. I'm glad the coaches let them wear the singlets. They are the best I have seen.
  9. I second that. Tsirtsis got up and walked to the line to shake hands. He acted like he had been there before, even thouhg we know he hasn't. Very classy. He waited til after getting his hand raised to show his emotion. That being said, I liked the windmill also.
  10. The tuxedo singlets were awesome. I couldn't stop laughing everytime I saw them. It took some real b*lls to order those and wear them on the biggest stage. Can you imagine the guy at the singlet company on the phone when the coach was ordering those singlets? "You want what on the front of your singlets." Priceless.
  11. I enjoyed the Raley/Kieffer match on Friday. Nonstop action for the first 4 min. They were both pretty wore out after the second period because of all the action. Lots of scrambles. Very entertaining match.
  12. I think it takes technique (good coaching) first. Then I would say wrestling intelligence (ability to comprehend how and why things work), and the ability to use that knowledge during a match. Next would be speed/quickness. Can't teach it and hard to defend against. Next would be strength. Strength can overcome deficencies in the other areas, but is not hard to defeat with good technique.
  13. My vote goes to Dirty Girl also. Bobby Light is the man.
  14. Wasn't Nosko from MD JV for three years and then was a state placer (or champ, can't remember) as a senior. That is a pretty tough JV wrestler.
  15. Yeah, the Riekers are always around. They, along with some other parents, help out a lot. It takes a lot of stress off of us coaches, so we can focus our attention on the kids.
