  1. I didn't see it live but was watching on ihsaa tv. It looked like Red was already running off the mat before time expired. I know they gave Lee a point for an escape but why wasn't Red called for fleeing and Lee awarded another point? It would have gone into overtime.

Would have been a lame way to tie the match.

  2. I expect that Joe Lee is going to have his act together and the illusion of 145 being wide open will be put to rest. But in the meantime, #7 Kenny Kerrn is another very interesting one to watch. Until the 9-6 loss to #1 Laughlin, he had been a MAN in controlling and/or pinning every decent opponent since midseason when he steamrolled through the Al Smith. I'd make him a slight dog against Vaughn in the quarters, but he could absolutely put him to his back and find himself in the semi-finals as a slight favorite against the McIntosh/Eicher/Bethel survivor.

Kerrn absolutelydominated Either at semi state and looked extremely impressive. However, I expect Eicher to seek vengeance in the State finals. I hope to see a rematchbetween Eicher and Kerrn this weekend

  3. I hate to have to say this, but I have been to a number of Bellmont meets over the years and they have the worst officials (aka most biased) of any wrestling event I have ever been too. I have never witnessed so many angry fans and coaches because of refs questionable (and that is putting of kindly) decision making. If you are wrestling Bellmont, it is you against Bellmont/officials.

This is not meant to take away from Bellmonts wrestlers as they have many fantastic and it is not their fault the refs make the calls they do

  4. so who do you guys think are true contenders coming out of ft. wayne?

    Brayden Curtis/Tanner DeMien at 106?

Glogouski/Langeloh/ maybe Hunt at 120? I don't see any of them beating Hildebrandt, but I could be wrong.

Sage Coy at 138 has a good shot.

Brad Laughlin at 145 has a solid chance. I think he will have a tough time with the Leo kid at semi state though.

Cael McCormick at 152? Personally I don't think he is athletic enough to hang with Lawrence. Cael is definitely a contender though.

Jacob Gray/Baumgartner at 170? can they hang with Hughes?

I think they are all possibilities though I have not been overly impressed with McCormick. Only a 3 point win in the semi-finals at regionals and he gives up a lot of points (scores a heck of a lot of points as well). But he is undefeated so he can't be counted out.

Eicher from Leo and Laughlin will be a great match if they meet in SS finals. Laughlin only beat Eicher by 1 last year and Eicher has something like 34 pins and 1 tech fall (in the second round of regional finals) this year.

  5. I wouldn't waste any time on his comment.  Even Leo's coach said it was the right call for your team.  It is called "Team" State for a reason.

It was definitely a smart decision by the coach (I never said it wasn't), but if I recall my scores correctly I believe Jimtown would have beat Leo whether Kerrn wrestled Eicher or not. They wouldn't have known this at the time obviously. I simply made this statement in regards to their semi-final matchup. People making their picks probably didn't know this. Either way, it will be a fantastic match.

I find it ironic that you make this statement from a 1 time post (guessing that you are to afraid to say it and own it)!  The last I checked it is the coaches decision to make this call.  To call out a kid like this is one of the most cowardly things!

I should have said Kerrn "was bumped" up to 152, I apologize. But I will stand by my statement that it was most definitely to avoid Eicher. I do not agree that my statement was cowardly, Kerrn avoided Eicher (probably coaches decision) it's as simple as that and 100% factual.

I wouldn't waste any time on his comment.  Even Leo's coach said it was the right call for your team.  It is called "Team" State for a reason.

I got this from the fact that Kerrn was wrestling at 145 but bumped up to 152 when Jimtown wrestled Leo. I was simply stating a fact, unfortunately it is difficult to read emotions over text. I meant no disrespect to Kerrn. He is a fantastic wrestler.

Looks like it was the right decision, considering Jimtown beat Leo and got to the Championship that day. The coach made the right call for the team.

It was definitely a smart decision, though at the end of the day I believe Jimtown would have won anyway.

  6. I'd agree with this list for the most part. Though I believe Doster will beat Rhodes since he has beat him twice in a row at 132 (pinned him in sectionals) and just looks like the better wrestler.

Interesting note: Kerrn bumped up a weight class to avoid Eicher at team state. That will be a good match
