Ester got me in 91 was correct. He held my hands together and dropped to a knee with a couple seconds left and got the 1 point penalty for having my hands clasped. He was a good friend and we joked about it at the Mishawaka Invite the next year while we were warming up for our finals matches. Me at 125, Mike at 119. Even when we wrestled at Manchester before I joined the Army, we still talked about that match. Wrestling someone in a close match, regardless of the outcome, can create a bond, even if you hate the guy’s guys afterwards. Losing to Mike was the best motivation I had for my senior year.

He is and will always be missed by anyone who knew him. He’s probably hitting that blast double leg somewhere! RIP brother!

better story about you, when Ester and i walked in your dorm room with Lopez trying to break your arm with a baseball bat.  so you didn't have to make weight. lol great times

  2. BIG thank you to all the coaches and wrestlers for the great turn out.  Reminds me of the old days of Lawrence North driving Mini bus up to work out for two hours.  Riley Lefever was Awesome.  Not to forget to mention, Nick Weaver's attendance. The official throw dummy of Wabash Wrestling, lol.  Thank you

  3. Michael Michael Motorcycle, whenever he is on a mat he is smiling like a butcher's dog.  Mike "Spike" Ester ISWA NATIONAL COACH, Former Head Coach Ft. Wayne Snider, 2005-2010 Assistant Coach at Trine University, and Founding Father/ Head Coach of Indiana Tech will be in the Cave tonight. Spike has coached 28 State finalists while producing 19 State Medalists, which included 3 State Champs, 2 State Runners-up and a IHSAA Mental Attitude winner in his 7 years spent with Snider.  During his four year run at Indiana Tech Ester qualified 36 of 48 potential athletes for the NAIA national Championships and finished with 10 All-Americans and Runners-up and 8th Place Team finish.

  5. WOW, finally someone took the bait.  Tnorm has a pretty solid double.  I thought we were drilling.  Tell Tnorm to watch that Goldberg double and I will give him until Tuesday to reconsider.

  6. Coach Kevin Lake from Manchester University will be bouncing through the Cave Wednesday at 6:00.  Kevin will be teaching a couple takedown techniques and a few freestyle turns.  Last week we had 40 head bangers bouncing to loud rap music with plenty of refreshments.  Expecting more head bangers with lots of live WRESTLING.

    SURPRISE SPECIAL GUEST?

WrestleMania 32 is April 3rd but it starts Wednesday night

  7. I love Coach Guards outline for the seasons.  I would like to throw out the freestyle dual format.  Having duals would allow kids to get more than 1 or 2 matches when you have 6 or more full teams registered before tournament.  It would help prevent kids from not being coached because there were three other club kids wrestling at the same time in two different gyms.  Allows wrestlers to use a full mat with the whole team watching each individual match. With the numbers not nearly as large as folkstyle I would like believe that teams could be categorized pee wee/ bantam, intermediate/novice, and schoolboy/cadet and fill full rosters.  I just feel freestyle would benefit more from using duals for qualifiers and grow the attendance tournaments. I hope clubs/schools start having more of these.

  8. Sounds like the Ice cream truck is working.  Heard there were going to be some Hwts rolling through tonight, McWilliams, Mamolenti, Faulkner, and Biggie "The Big Show"Lewis.  Not only does Ice cream attract the big guys but I heard there will be a couple of school boy State Champs looking for their next challenges.  #back2pg1 #charlieisathug
