  1. Sadly, no he does not. We have seen the last of Nick in folkstyle. Here is hoping he opts for freestyle as he has the potential to represent the US at 65kg. Also in 141, Stevan Micic and Chad Red completed their eligibility this year. Those three represented quite a strong trio of Indiana's finest over the years.
  2. *in our hearts. But finishes third in actual vote. https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Features/2022/March/28/Steveson-wins-Hodge-Trophy Final vote: Gable Steveson - 49 votes Yianni Diakomihalis - 5 votes Nick Lee - 3 votes
  3. Hmmm. He counts five times for Penn State, but only four times for Mater Dei?
  4. I know the extenuating circumstances, but how cool is it that Nick Lee won more NCAA titles than HS titles?
  5. If you subscribe to B1G+ you may be able to find the On The Mat episode they did on Cam Caffey last year (I think). Or maybe it is on youtube. You will like him even more after watching it. Edit: Found it
  6. It was reported on the Nebraska board that Red was sick last week, which would explain his underperformance at B1G. So, I expect him to bounce back and have another AA finish. They are saying Eierman may have torn his ACL over on HR, so you definitely have to downgrade his chances if true, particularly given his style. I was told by someone who attended B1G that Rivera was jumping over seats in the stands. He seems fine, and is the real threat in that bracket.
  7. A lot of Indiana based guys get at-large bids: Parker Filius 141 Chad Red 141 Jordan Slivka 157 Gerrit Nijenhuis 174 Max Lyon 184 Donnell Washington 184 Did I miss anyone? https://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling/article/2022-03-08/ncaa-announces-large-selections-2022-division-i-wrestling-championships
  8. Someone on the Nebraska board said he heard Red has the flu. That would certainly explain it.
  9. Micic falls 4-0 to Bergeland in the 3rd place bout after Bergeland fell 16-1 to Nick Lee. In this case the transitive property probably holds. Micic looks like he is at the wrong weight.
  10. And Filius takes out Micic in the first round. All eyes on Nick Lee. Wrestling is hard.
  11. Wow. Chad Red loses to Cayden Rooks in the firat round of B1G at home. Trailing 8-6 late in the 3rd, Red gets a reversal to tie it up, but never gets above the waste. He is called for his second stall with :04 left to lose 9-8.
  12. Red gets Rooks in the first round. Then the winner of Santos (MSU) v. Bergeland (Minn) in the quarters. Lee awaits in the semis. I don't see Red losing to any of Rooks, Santos or Bergeland.
  13. Red actually missed out on a weird procedural quirk. There were 33 wrestlers qualified for 29 spots (Red was one of the 33). To decide who to eliminate they increment all three qualifying standards at the same time (win % goes to 71, RPI to 29, and CR to 29) as many times as they need to, to knock guys out. Red and one other wrestler got knocked out together in the last increment, taking the total allocations down to 28 instead of 29.
  14. It is the most the Big 10 has ever had. The next closest was 86 in 2015. They did this without Chad Red or Stevan Micic earning an allocation, either. Wild.
  15. I took a shot at seeding the B1G 141 to see what it might look like. Round 1 I think Red gets the 4 seed so he faces the 13 in round one. I am guessing that is Santos of MSU. Easy Red win. Lee with the 1 seed gets a bye. Quarters Red gets the winner of Micic (5) / Rooks (12). Clearly leans toward Micic. And I have Red over Micic again. Lee gets the winner of 8/9 which I have as Tal-Shahar v D'Emilio, neither of which who present much of an obstacle. Note: I had a hard time figuring out where Micic will be seeded. I think it could be anywhere between 5 and 7 given his lose to Bergeland, who I have all the way down at 10. Semis So I have Lee v Red in the semi with Lee completing the college sweep (with a possible 7th meeting to come).
  16. I think we get Lee v Red VI in the Big 10 tourney semis, as it looks like Lee will be the 1 seed and Red the 4 seed.
  17. 7-3 Red. It was closer than that. Trailing 4-3 with about a minute to go Micic can't fight off Red on the final scramble.
  18. Hmm. I will take Lee and lay the points, but I will take Red over Micic.
  19. This Sunday we get the fifth installment of Chad Red vs. Nick Lee. After winning their only high school meeting in dramatic fashion, Red is now 0-3 against Lee in college. With the dual at PSU I would guess Lee is a 4-5 point favorite (wrestlestat has it at 2, but with no adjustment for home mat). If I put the line at Lee -4.5, who ya got?
  20. What about Eierman's posture at the start of SV would suggest he is tired?
  21. At the half way break in the PSU / Mich match there was a promo for this week's episode of B1G Wrestling: On the Mat. It will have a segment on the Lees. Big Ten Network at 6:30 ET on Friday, I believe.
  22. I think you got the name wrong. Isn't it the Lido Scuffle?
  23. At the Collegiate Duals this past Monday and Tuesday Nick Lee went 3-0, all three being major decisions, to up hos record to 7-0. First came an 18-4 win over Northern Iowa's Cael Happel (12-4) (the Happel's have to hate this guy as he teched Carter in 2020 at Iowa). Next was a 13-3 win over Cornell's Cole Handlovic (6-7). He finished the event with a 14-3 win over ASU's Jesse Vazquez (7-1). Meanwhile, Joe Lee made his season debut. Unfortunately it was a 4-2 loss to Cornell's Colton Yapoujian (7-2). The only takedown came on a throw attempt by Lee that failed and put him under Yapoujian.
