  1. I understand that. But if North White has 3 underclassmen and each can score a possible 4 points at SS, why do they have 20 points available? In my math classes 3 x 4 was 12.
  2. Question: How can teams that still have wrestlers in SS have available points that equal more than 4 points per wrestler? For instance, LaVille has 3 wrestlers left but 13 available points. Eastern (Greentown) 4 wrestlers and 24 possible points. North White 3 wrestlers and 20 points. Am I missing something?
  3. I'm super proud of the Triton team and their success so far this season! One of our senior sectional champs has a younger brother in 8th grade, and it has been the senior's goal all year to help Triton qualify for 2015-16 team state so his younger brother would get to experience it - even though the senior did not. It's this kind of thing that builds a program!
  4. Thanks for all the input guys. I think we would all agree that doing off-season work significantly increases a wrestler's chances of advancing in the state series! But frankly, wrestling is not the highest priority for some kids, so those guys are going to focus on other things during the summer. I started the thread to get your opinions on what those guys should be able to accomplish and you have all given great responses! I did not understand the difference with the upper weights and had not thought about the limited opportunities in other sports for the little guys. So you've opened my eyes to some things. Here's to an exciting and injury free Saturday for all of our wrestlers!
  5. Thank you Alias! I enjoyed doing that for a season. But don't expect me to be nearly as active over here! I don't know much about this sport, except that I may have a heart attack before this season ends! Nothing more intense than the 6 minutes when your kid is on the mat!
  6. Yes, I was assuming this as well. Wrestlers are great athletes and SHOULD be participating in other things, especially at smaller schools. I'm more curious about the kid who does no off-season wrestling and what he can consider to be a highly successful season given his in-season-only commitment to the sport.
  7. I'm relatively new to the high school wrestling scene, so I don't have a good feel for what it takes to really succeed at this level. I would assume that most of our state finals wrestlers are committed to the sport year around - summer camps and tournaments, etc. I would also assume that a kid who wrestles only during wrestling season would have to be exceptionally talented to make the finals, and probably doesn't happen a lot. But these are just guesses. So my question is, how far along in the tournament can a seasonal wrestler expect to advance? At what level do the year around wrestlers really begin to take over? Regional? Semi-state? Of course there are many variables, but what do you guys see out there?
  8. Well, I wasn't too far off! Triton advanced 7, had 5 in the championship, and came away with 4 winners! The team finished 4th just one point behind Plymouth and 5.5 behind second place Bremen. Overall a great day for the Trojans!
  9. It's finally fun to go to the meets! We have a chance to advance 6-7 wrestlers and have 3-4 champions. Not bad for a little 1A! We will also be one of only 3 teams to have a full line-up! Coach Brown and Coach Arveson have done a fantastic job of building this program over the last four years! And assistants Shaun Belin and Jason Thompson are great with the kids!
  10. Would be easy to pick the #1 seed in each weight! And I think a few of them are locks (Greene, Hatch, Spangle, Bell). But some of the others are stacked - like 138 and 145. Those could go several different directions. Most of the rest just have a couple of contenders.
  11. Moss certainty has a great shot at 145, but I think a guy like Trevino could get him. On the other hand, a Moss title wouldn't surprise me. Neither would Rodriguez winning 138.
  12. Rochester wins by a landslide. Bremen and Plymouth battle for second. Triton, Warsaw and CMA all vying to finish in the top half. Champions: 106: Greene, Triton 113: Brooke, Bremen 120: Hatch, Warsaw 126: Hunting, Rochester 132: Childers, TV 138: Heckathorn, Rochester 145: Trevino, CMA 152: Bollenbacher, Bremen 160: Waddle, Triton 170: Spangle, Triton 182: Bell, TV 195: Nolin, Warsaw 220: Scruggs, Plymouth 285: Shafer, Rochester Possible Upset Specials: DeVault, Plymouth @ 113 Brissette: Culver @ 126 Neidig, Plymouth @ 152 Heffner, Triton @ 285
  13. Northern State Conference (NSC). Four going to the new Hoosier North Athletic Conference (HNAC) and four joining the Northern Indiana Conference (NIC).
  14. I'm with you tommyho! The tournament has been set since Monday night.
  15. True, but I believe Howe from Northridge beat him in their dual last week. And what about Neidig from Plymouth? Can he give those two a challenge?
  16. And when is the seeding meeting?
