  1. Man Bronx, you run a hard bargain. All kinds of disparaging comments about IU over the last two years... Now they string together some nice wins, and all of a sudden the teams IU beats aren't any good. Minnesota is Minnesota regardless of where they are in their program cycle. Just like IU has been IU. This cycle has been the same since 1968.. The last time IU beat Minnesota. So let's meet in the middle and say that Minnesota is down a little, but IU is absolutely up.
  2. No one talking about the Hoosiers taking down Minnesota? Or EMU? This is a good looking young squad that is getting better by the week.
  3. Any recruiting recaps of IU and Purdue out yet?
  4. Bronx, what is your mother given name? I have yet to see a post as to where you say: "this is who I am and this is what I believe" My experience in life is that if you have an issue with someone, you talk to them about it. Why don't you jump in the geo wagon and make a trip to IU and talk to the coaches themselves? They may be eager to here your ideas on how to make the program better. It is obvious to me that you have a love for IU and only want the best for the program. Go talk to them. That is what any respectable man would do. And most certainly any former wrestler would do so. Because thru wrestling he/she learned valuable tools on integrity. Jeff
  5. Not necessarily. Injuries, growth, ineligible, etc. are just a few factors that may have put the clamps on this season. But I will agree that those are things that all B1G schools go thru. I am looking forward to the lightweights that are coming in next season and the development of our bigs to get us respectable again.
  6. Bronx: I don't have the answers to all your questions and even if I did, I wouldn't spew them out on a board. After reading back some of your posts, it seems to always dwell on the negatives about Goldman and staff, so nothing I could ever say would change your opinion (I'm guessing). But one that perked my curiosity is LeBlanc. My son hit it off good with LeBlanc during his visit. And while it was disheartening to know he left, it didn't alter our thoughts of where IU is trying to go. LeBlanc has since left another institution and headed west. Perhaps he always wanted to go home and IU knew that? I couldn't tell you as from what I understand neither side has ever talked negatively about the other. I would also state that I thought my son was going to be coached by the IU coaching staff at tourneys and was disappointed when I found out that they couldn't do so. I have been to every tourney and not once has an IU coach coached my son or any other redshirts. I was under the impression that everything was taken care of IE Meals, Transportation, Motel, Coaching etc. to none of it being covered. So I can attest that hasn't happened. We have two redshirt HVY's that are on the squad, Not sure what you mean by that, and Goldman was always trying to be there, so not sure if you are onboard with that one. Several redshirts this year could have filled the gaps, but seems to me IU is focused on bringing them along correctly rather than throwing them to the B1G wolves for the sake of having a full lineup. Anyways, I just was trying to state the positives about the program and not focus on the negatives. It's easy to see the program isn't where we nor the coaches want it to be right now. Doesn't mean that some good things aren't happening.
  7. I am not one to sit behind a keyboard and talk mess. But you did kind of challenge the integrity of the University and the coaches/wrestlers. With that being said, I would state that there are a lot of people who care, and the coaches are in that group. While this season has been tuff, I would ask you to take a look at last years recruiting class and see what they accomplished this season on the redshirt trail. Add to them this years recruited class and returning starters from this years team, and I would say the future is bright. Just thought I would throw that out as I have seen first hand the work put in and commitment level of the team and coaches. Jeff Martin
  8. No. 65 Skatzka commits to Indiana October 5, 2014: Three-time state champion Devin Skatzka (Richmond, Mich.) committed to Indiana University on Sunday afternoon. The No. 65 overall ranked wrestler in the Class of 2015 has placed the last two years at the Flo Nationals, seventh at 145 and third at 152. Skatzka has a career record of 139-13, and projects to be a 165/174 in college. He is the Hoosiers' initial top 100 commit in this class.
  9. Its up. Looks like some freshman bio's aren't completed yet however. http://www.iuhoosiers.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/ind-m-wrestl-mtt.html

  11. Looks like coach LeBlanc is heading back to his home state..... http://www.intermatwrestle.com/articles/13322
  12. The thread itself says ANOTHER INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL ELITE WRESTLER FLEES THE STATE... :-*
  13. How about I one up you and ask his current coaches about Zimmer? That situation is known about as well as can be on this end. Out of respect for the kid, I will keep that to myself. I will stay positive and just ask another California kid on the team about the coaches... Seems to have worked out just fine thanks... Seems like you put more emphasis on the coaches and not the wrestlers themselves. When the choice was made, there were three four time AA's on staff. If a wrestler cant learn from people that have been there done that, that's on them. Dang Bronx... I could have liked you, seeing how I am a Yanks fan and all... lol.
  14. Firstly, I want to say howdy as this is my first post to the site. I found this thread to be interesting since we have battled this very issue for years now in my home state of California. Seems as though all of our best kids flee the state. But after going thru the process with my son (he signed with IU this year) it really comes down to one thing: Commonality. My son grew up with Cal State Bakersfield, Stanford, Cal Poly etc. right in his backyard. He appreciated them, but wanted to try what he felt were bigger things. New things. I believe that most kids feel the same. Unless their Dad or Uncle, Brothers, Grandpas, graduated from those local schools, there really isn't to much loyalty that goes into the decision. Ultimately my son was able to make the decision based upon league affiliation and coaches. He is super happy with his decision and cant wait to get on the mat and start working on becoming an AA. I look forward to being a part of the forum going forward.. GO HOOSIERS!
