  1. Last post on this and then I'm done. First, I am not saying a little celebratory action is wrong. I stated this in my original post. But extreme actions of gloating is antagonizing to there opponent. You can't tell me as a YOUNG MAN you would not be frustrated enough to have lost, let alone to watch your opponent rub your nose in it. It's not classy and it shows that you don't respect your opponent's hard work. If you can condone this perhaps you have not ever been the guy who lost after almost achieving. Have class shake the young man's hand and celebrate with your fans, friends and family later.
  2. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. I'll admit that Cashe had a better career than I had even known about. I'll retract my statement that you should be banned. Perhaps I should be for my lack of knowledge on the topic I posted on. I will say that I have watched both compete and feel that Micic would beat Cache. But I can see how you would say Tsirtsis rose to the occasion while Lee did not. I'm still not convinced, but that is the best comparison we'll ever get.
  3. This is absurd!!! The only people arguing this point for Tsirtsis are probably from the region. Lee wrestled one of the most highly recruited kids in the nation. I'm going to bet that if you put Jason Tsirtsis in this convo he might not concede from the running but he would laugh at those saying Lee losing to Micic proves anything. Not to mention who ever it was that posted Cashe's career was anything close to Micic's should be banned. LOL
  4. I don't want to argue with anyone on this site and have no plans on making arguments on how it feels to win a state championship as I have never wrestled. I am strictly a fan. However what drew me to this sport was the grit and grind of it, and it seems the more years that go by the uglier they let the celebrating get. I believe you are correct that Humphrey did a back flip after the match but all the same, a great wrestler who had just out wrestled who would be an accomplished NCAA wrestler (Howe) didn't need to had the whoopla. If wrestling is not enough to get you into the sport you need not be involved. And to comment on the football reference, if a high school football player acted the way some of those kids did this weekend they would have been penalized. And yes I did play football.
  5. Coaches I beg you go home and teach these kids that act like wild untamed morons after they win to have some class. I understand clapping and even pointing to your fans it is an emotional time, but some of it is taunting. I will give an example from years ago so I don't single anyone out. A few years ago a senior who was an animal, beat a very young but also very good freshman(by a small margin) in the finals. Instead of just walking to the line fist pumping or clapping for his accomplishment, he decided he needed to go to the center of the mat and break dance. Now I was there and I can tell you not only did he take away from his victory by looking like a fool but it also cause people, myself included to regret chairing for such a person. So coaches and parents just please work with your young men on being adults they are almost there, you know!
  6. This weight class is outstanding. The freshmen especially are just gracious in victory and defeat. I started off the year a fan of one of the young men that I saw at ISWA state (Paul Konrath). But, as this tourney has went on I have seen upsets, with winners and losers just showing nothing but respect. I can not say that for any of the other weight classes. Now I am not saying that the other classes did not have classy kids in them, but I didn't see any kids gloat, smack a hand away or stomp off like a little two year old who didn't get his way, in the 106's. So congrats guys on being positive patrons of the sport. OUTSTANDING BEHAVIOR ;D
  7. Yeah..... Except Tsirtsis didn't have to wrestle the #2 in the nation in the semi's. Soooo there's that.
  8. Hahaha and you are so sure why I think you are either related or are one of those guys who likes to stir the pot. The top five kids in this state have went round and round yes Bailey is undefeated but only has a 2 pt victory over Hildenbrandt as a top 5 match up. Honestly I don't know if anyone can be sure on this weight class.
  9. Three kids really impressed me today. #1 Nick Lee is an animal and looks ready for collegiate wrestling now. Watch out next week if you're in the 126# weight cause he's coming.#2 Paul Konrath for his conduct. He wrestled a pour match last week and lost by a controversial call. Then his opponent got up ran around hooting and hollering about the win. Paul walks to the shakes his hand and pats him on the back. But today was the true test today he dominated that same opponent and I fully expected to see Mr. Konrath's real emotion maybe some hootin and hollering of his own but he just walked to the line and shook his opponents hand. Classy in victory and defeat, well done. #3 DJ Smith is finally the real deal he controlled a match against Furguson in every aspect and to be honest I thought he might pull it out, but he owned that match the whole time. So congrats to you three for being outstanding wrestlers with great passion for the sport and conducting yourselves with respect.
  10. True on most of this, but I was there. It was not a shot off the whistle, there was a 1:25 still on the clock, and though he was not in any real danger in the first and second period, he was in serious danger in the third. Not only did pure strength save him from being pinned. He received two stalling calls in the time remaining cause Konrath was all over him trying to turn him again to tie the score. It is comments like these from people who obviously were not there that are antagonizing his family to comment. Ferguson did great in the first two periods ( skill and size) combined kept Konrath at bay. But make no mistake when Konrath got on him he was all over him and Ferguson was in bad trouble.
  11. I don't know what to say but wow! I am shocked that anyone would even think this contest anything less than great. A very small 106 bumps up to 113 against arguably the best kid in the state at that class gets down 9-1 and in the second and is searching for the tying turn at the final buzzer ending the match 9-6 Ferguson over Konrath. First of all I don't know if I've ever seen a kid so willing to put himself in an uphill battle in my life. I mean Ferguson towered over him, and this match tarnished his perfect record. But to him it's like who cares about a record as he come off the mat all smiles as he puts one of the best wrestlers, a weight class up from him on his back. Secondly, DKONRATH83, I think anything that you say is just feeding the monkeys. Your brother knows he did well and the fans from both teams know he went into a David and Goliath match and almost got him a pin. So weather you feel like some are down playing it or not, anyone who wants to be real about it knows, it was a great feat your brother challenged himself with a did well in that. Congrats to Konrath and Ferguson on a great match up.
  12. Not only did Bailey but Egli beat Hildenbrand 6-1
  13. Who won out of Egli and Hildebrandt? Lee and Davis?
  14. I do not care who picks who I'm just stating the reasons for why I am picking Konrath. At the end of the day I feel like the kid gets underestimated because he is small for his age and I can relate to that. Sometime I don't get my point across as verbally passive as I would like, for that I apologize. I witnessed the Hildenbrand- Konrath match last year and I was just impressed with the kid and he just missed,by seconds , winning that match for the iswa title at a hundred pounds. That was an eighth grader that was in my estimation 5-10 lbs under weight, and way smaller wrestling a freshman placer from last years highschool state. And it just impressed me. I'm just on the kid's bandwagon is all I'm trying to say.
  15. ??? I'm not saying anyone is cutting or not for all I know Konrath cut ten pounds to make weight. I doubt it but it's possible. All I am say is, Konrath IMO has done the most impressive thing out of all of them. The kid that was favored most highly by the ppl was Egli, and Konrath handled Egli. While these kids up North are beating eachother by very little in tight matches.
  16. Okay I know I sound like a broken record but come on. At the top of this convo, the majority of you were picking egli to win. Now Konrath picks him apart and you're going with Cummings who squeaked out a match with Hildenbrand??? It's up to you all but my pick ems this year will have Konrath sitting on the far right of the winners bracket.
  17. Making my way to MD this weekend to see 106 #2vs#3, lets get it on.
  18. Yes NICfan that is how I took his post. However I have not seen any of these kids wrestle that you mentioned so I can't speak to that. I had just been a spectator ( to a completely different weight class) when I saw Konrath wrestle. What got me was that he looked completely outsized by the kids in the weight class he was in. As I watched for him to get manhandled every time, just kept winning. So I kept watching. Finally someone said that he was wrestling hildenbrandt in the finals so I watched that thinking this would be his undoing, but he surprised me again by losing while only seconds from winning. No hard feeling was more questioning who is gonna beat that kid assuming he is on weight.
  19. Sorry meant to attach this quote for my above comments. 8) ???
  20. 106 ??? Apparently you have never seen Konrath wrestle I watched last year at iswa as he was clearly out sized by the kids he wrestled as he systematically worked his way up to the finals match. Where he lost by a small margin to a highschool state placer by a small margin. If my memory serves me right, he was winning that match until the very end. So for him to be ranked 3 I'd hate to see who is gonna just waltz up and take this class.
