  1. Boston would just wrestle 120#.
  2. I'm going with Micic until someone beats him.
  3. Let's crown Nick Lee the #1 126# wrestler in the country and be done with it.
  4. I have to agree with Joe, no luck involved during the match between Valencia vs Micic. After watching the match again, I thought Valencia was clearly the better wrestler.
  5. I agree, why not just wrestle in Who's #1 dual against Sean Russell. Russell is every bit as good as Micic. Russell is wrestling in both events but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up skipping Super32. As far as the senior comment, once a wrestler has committed, what else is left to prove at the HS level? There is very little difference between the top 4 at 120#. I'm including Micic since he should've been ranked at 120# vs 126#.
  6. Wrestlers focusing on one style or the other has become very common these days. Coaches, in my opinion, don't seem to care which style your competing at just as long as your competiting at a high level. Micic competed at Fila & Fargo and that's what moved him up the rankings even though we all agree, we don't know how he'll do on a national level in folkstyle. We know he'll be successful but will he have the same level of success in folkstyle. At the end of the day, i guess it really doesn't matter because he'll be getting an awesome education and an excellent chance at starting as a true freshman, which can be a catch 22. Congrats Micic.
  7. Good academic school. Looking at the roster, he could easily make the lineup his true freshmen year at 125#.
  8. I'm going to read between the lines and assume your talking about the Who's #1 dual that flowrestling is hosting. If that's the case, then round 3 wouldn't have happened because Sean Russell is ranked higher than Nathan Boston. I think a Russell vs Micic match would be more exciting than a Micic vs Boston. I would pick Russell over Micic in folkstyle. Micic is an animal when it comes to freestyle but not convinced that he's as competitive in folkstyle. I think Russell beats Boston at the Who's #1 dual.
  9. Caleb Spires, I can see your prediction playing out for sure.
  10. I think we've all seen Boston wrestle enough to know that he wrestles very close matches and slows the pace down, I just don't see him getting majored.
  11. Wrestlers who attend Ivy League schools for the most part submit their application during the early acceptance period. So technically, getting admitted early can increase by almost 3 folds for some schools. Harvard 2013 early acceptance rate 18.43% Stanford 2013 early acceptance rate 11.90%
  12. Below is the acceptance rate. I know for a fact that Harvard wrestling team gets 7 recommendation to submit to admission but that doesn't mean those 7 get accepted. Also, if a athletics gets injured or decides not to wrestle after being accepted, the Ivy League schools can't reduce or revoke your financial need award money. Stanford University, 5.69 percent Stanford reports that it received a record 38,828 applications from around the world and accepted 2,210. Of those, 725 applicants who were accepted in December through the early action program. The Stanford Daily reports that another 813 students are on a wait-list. This years admit rate of 5.7 percent is the universitys lowest yet and makes it slightly more selective than Harvard. Harvard University, 5.79 percent Harvard reports that it received 35,023 applications for the Class of 2017 and accepted 2,029 students. This years acceptance rate of 5.8 percent is slightly down from last years 5.9 percent. For those accepted, about 10 percent are international students, and 53.4 percent are men. Outside of class and test-taking, 42 percent cited involvement in music and other expressive and performing arts, 35 percent have been involved with debate and political activities, including student government, and 54 percent plan to participate in recreational, intramural or intercollegiate athletics.
  13. Everyone wants to be competitive but at the end of the day, I'll encourage my wrestler to think beyond the 4-5 years he'll spend wrestling in college. Those 4-5 years won't mean anything compared to the 40+ years he'll be in the workforce.
  14. I have to agree with sportsfangms. An Ivy League education trumps a degree from a non Ivy League school with everything else being equal. If the Purdue graduate remain in IN then I can see how it might not make a difference but going outside of the state, I can't imagine that they both are viewed as the same quality of education. I remember back in the day when employees had to pick their doctor from a list of providers, how many of them do you think picked an Ivy League doctor over a non Ivy League doctor? Getting into a school who's acceptance rate is just under 7% with over 37,000 applications vs a school that has a 50% acceptance rate (I don't know Purdue's rate), seems like a very good start when it comes to getting a top quaility education.
  15. JMO, as good as Micic is, he's not beating out Brad Perkins for the 125# spot. Evaluating a school based on the current lineup is a factor that needs to be considered unless your choosing a school for academic purposes or if the school that's recruiting you is your dream school. Harvard is a 4 year, no red/grey shirt year. So with Perkins FR and Ott SO would have to be a consideration as well. If they both were JR or SR this year, that would be ideal. It's like a top recruit wanting to attend Ohio State with Tomasello there is a risking proposition. Not saying that Perkins is at that level but Perkins is pretty dang close.
  16. Harvard would be a good fit if he plans on wrestling 133#. Their current 133# is a SO in John Ott
  17. Great post Nathan. I agree that neither boys will get dominated, possibly a controlled match but not dominated. Both boys will be top 5 at the end of the 2013 - 2014 season for sure. ISU is getting a very solid wrestling in Nathan, it'll be interesting to see where Micic ends up.
  18. We all know that Micic and Boston are outstanding wrestlers. Regarding John Smith's comment, I'm sure he means what he says but he's also trying to recruit wrestlers to his program, so his comments maybe emblished a little.
