  1. Don't they wrestle back to 5th/6th?
  2. In the 10 years or so I have been around this area, I have never seen MD show up without 3 or 4 teams worth of kids it seemed. I am not sure what the cause is but it is sad to see.
  3. At 152, Witte of Castle was neck and neck with Weinzapfel at the end of the match. It was a 2 or 3 point loss after Witte gave up a 5 point move in the first period. 152 could be a fun one to watch also!
  4. at 220 MD has had JV kids wresting JV matches, but no one at the varsity level that I know of.
  5. Allen did beat Schnell at the Castle Invitational. Schnell then beat Schroeder the next week.
  6. He was at 126 at Castle this year. I am pretty sure he could be undefeated at 132 also.
  7. I agree! A lot of wrestling before the sectional gets here.
  8. UC is a the front runner. Memorial has a solid core of kids also. I don't know much about Trinity this year. I know they have a strong tradition. Southridge is a decent team also. Strong individuals. I agree that it is good to see Harrison's program on the upswing again. The look to have decent numbers out and some kids that will get better with mat time.
  9. Like I said, no disrespect intended, I am having a tough time seeing the team I saw recently as one of the top 2 in the state.
  10. Jasper is really impressive! Very physical and good technique on top of it all!
  11. If MD uses the same line up they did at Castle this weekend, UC will finish strong. MD is not nearly as deep as I remember. UC is impressive top to bottom. If Bloomington South and UC were to square off, I would have to go with UC.
  12. Bloomington South is the real deal. Very very tough. Jasper was Really impressive also. I mean no disrespect but how is Mater Dei the Number 2 team in the state?
  13. I agree..North's gym is fantastic! But over all keeping the status quo is good. People are too quick to give up their traditions any more.
  14. I don't think it will be quite that bad, but I don't understand what was gained by just flipping the sectionals they way they did. I have seen politics played in wrestling for many years and it never seems to end well for those who the sport is intended. I hope this is a case of trying to get a head by ducking out. In the end, you have to wrestle and that is all that matters.
  15. Admittedly I wasn't sure who he was, but he is physical specimen! Obviously an outstanding athlete!
  16. I have no idea what all of this is about, but the Central VS Castle argument is rediculous now. The Castle sectional is the far stronger of the two. Central will give it a go against Mater Dei, but after round one everyone else is wrestling for 2-4 at the Castle regional with a few exceptions. I certainly don't mean to slight any of the kids, but realistically speaking Mater Dei will bring 14 high seeds into the regional thanks to who ever decided this realignment most benefitted their own purposes. As for the Castle sectional, it's way to early to venture a guess but I see Memorial winning it, with Castle Hertiage Hills and maybe Reitz fighting it out for the remaining the top 4 spots. It's a shame this is so screwed up now. I hate it for the regional and the semi state.
  17. I thought I saw his name listed on the rosters at Castle. I am going from a sometimes failing memory though.
  18. I don't remember this kids name, but he is pretty solid. I don't have a dog in the fight. But overlooking someone is the quickest way to get beat
  19. After what I saw this weekend, 120, 145, and 170 could all slide towards Castle. I am just guessing based on one day of wrestling.
  20. As it stands now, Castle has the only gym big enough for the event. I have not seen the new gym at Princeton though.
  21. From what I was able to catch this weekend it looks like the word for the SIAC is parity! MD is the team to beat, but the rest are neck and neck! Harrison seems to be much improved. The number of kids I saw in the gyms wresting this weekend were VERY impressive! We went to Castle - wife worked a booth at their bands Christmas sale and I was blown away by the number of kids wrestling compared to other years I have seen!
  22. Looks like Jasper is bringing a solid squad!
  23. Having only been around the area for 10 years or so, I am very impressed with what I know about Mater Dei's program and Castle. I am very glad to see other schools stepping up their game too like I said. I hate the way the sectionals are drawn up now though. They have really hurt the Regional here. I have seen a couple of local Regionals that have produced Semi State Champions. That is no small feat given the fact that the Evansville Semi-State covers the entire southern half of the state. Central and North's programs have potential to produce some tough competition this year, but I think the sectional realignment may have made things weaker and not stronger. Just one man's opinion of course.
