  1. We live in a world where Wrestling is removed from it's rightful places as a cornerstone of the Greatest Peaceful Competition known, and whose strongest nation has TWICE elected a completely incompetent fool. What do these things have in common? FEAR OF HARD WORK AND PRODUCTIVITY. Let's be honest, the IOC has shunned the Wrestling community for decades. No TV coverage to speak of, very little press at all...no promotion in the Mainstream Media. Wrestling is now what it has always been...Larger Than The Olympics.
  2. I guess it could happen. It seems like a long shot but anything is possible
  3. I heard many of the same sort of comments at the Regionals. Just because certain fans didn't hear them doesn't make it not so. I also agree that alignment is alignment and you just have to wrestle. As for the economic factors, like it or not, they are a real concern for the schools and the parents. May not seem like much, but if you're living closer to the economic edge, as many people are or soon will be, then it does effect things. You want it summarized, Perception Equals Reality. The general perception was someone cried and got what they wanted and now everyone has to rearrange just for that reason. I think we all know that is realistically not a factor as realignments happen from time to time, but I have to agree that the geographic split makes no sense at all. Does it balance the talent pool? For a year it might, but over the next year or two it will skew again and I will bet you anything certain schools will fight tooth and nail to not go to the Central Sectional again.
  4. Did they ever find his hands? I hear one of his teammates hid them after the match.
  5. Because he has a name that would give the PA Announcers Fits in Indy!
  6. 113 1. Opening Rd - 1 seed Jasi Coureur (sp?) vs. 4 seed Mitch Lehman. A function of a super strong Castle regional that the seeds are opposite the rankings. Don't know much about Coureur but looks like an opportunity for Lehman to get to the semis. 2. Opening Rd - Jacob Brown vs. Austin Ely? Records are both strong. Does Ely have a realistic chance or is this just a mirage because of the competition Brown has faced? 3. Ticket Round - Damon Kuhn vs. Hunter Fox. Wasn't Fox a SQ last year? 4. Ticket Round - Elliot Molloy vs. Jacob Brown. Are these two ticket round matches the only ones keeping this from being an all-Castle top 4 or am I giving Lehman too much credit? The following get their tickets punched: Lehman - Really stepped it up in a TOUGH Conference/Secitonal/Regional series Brown - He found something that works in the Consolation finals to take 3rd and he has been in each and every match Fox - Only because there is obviously a problem with his like like opponent that may put and end to it. Mastison - A Senior that is wrestling the highest concentration of tough competition every week the way he is makes it hard to bet against him. He has really picked it up.
  7. I can't believe Kelley/Molloy is going to end up a Semi-Finals Match! I know they use a formula, but come on guys! There has to be some wiggle room to give the best show!
  8. We have all heard the same things but with the change over year in and year out with programs you never no what you will get. The top 3 most consistent programs appear to have been Mater Dei, Memorial, and Castle over the past few years as far as I know. Castle has been down over all but there are signs it has potential coming up. Memorial had a strong feeder program and mater Dei has a strong team that is young. Both the Conference and the Regional meets showed that Mater Dei can win by pushing large numbers through to the finals, but the winning each weight class is a chore for them this year. The larger issue if how many injuries came out of today.
  9. I understand what you're saying. Kids do see these things and it does get to them, even if you think it doesn't. But in the end all that matters is what happens on the mat. The mental side of wrestling is what makes it so hard. The training and the physicality are tough enough, but the pressure to win will break a kid down. 3 plus decades of coaching and watching kids deal with over bearing parents and social situations makes it completely clear that what seems harmless can be far from it to kids. Usually they don't have to see the kid at any other time than on the mat every so often, so what do they care? In the end the kids usually come out of it stronger and better equipped to deal with life- as long as they have a good understanding of what is really important and what is just talk. I am glad I didn't have to contend with the whole "Social Media" thing back in the day. It was bad enough dealing the parents harping on about their kids and other kids on the team when I happened to run into them at the store.
  10. Some people you just can't reach. As my grandson says "Paranoid Long?"
  11. I honestly could care less about this but I do need to point something out. I have no association with Castle or Reitz. Just an old coach from miles away that needs to understand something. What you are saying is that Reitz should be proud that they held on to 4th under diffcult circumstances, and were only 5 points out of second regardless. Where I am failing to follow your logic is Castle finished 3rd (1 point ahead of Reitz - thus 4 points out of second) and we all know Castle is way down from the last few years. So using your logic, Castle should be prouder than anyone to have finished ahead of Reitz (a team that beat them in a close dual just a week before). So let me ask this question, is it REALLY worth arguing about? It's over, Reitz wrestled hard, as did Castle, Central, and Mater Dei. Things fell as they did and it's time to move on.
  12. Kelley is a true talent that is for sure! I can see a nice career for him in wrestling after High School if that is the path he chooses. But beating a young man like Molloy is a tall order. That's a match that is worth the trip down town for!
  13. I think the lights at the Ford Center are much larger aren't they?
