  1. Question for everyone. Should holding on to an ankle and not improving position be called stalling?
  2. Again cudos to Heistand for wrestling a smart defensive match, on that level he earned it, and yes I don't think Corsaro wrestled his type of match, (probably due to Heistand's great defensive wrestling). But, I prefer a more offensive minded style and I prefer the rules to not reward defensive wrestling. IMO it was by far the most boring match.
  3. Good tactic, when you don't have an intelligent reply insult someone
  4. So you do agree the officials determined the match. So are you saying simply because Cosarro was the more accomplished wrestler it was on him to do more to win the match? Hiestand did nothing to earn the win. I'm blaming the rules though, not him, his strategy was obviously smart. The rules shouldn't reward passivity.
  5. No in college wrestling stalling would have been called several times. The rules need to be changed, if a wrestler drops to an ankle or knee automatic stalling call. Wrestlers should not be able to hang on to win a match. Plus it is boring, stalling like that does not help grow the sport.
  6. Purdue's lower weights wrestled too well to give this one up. Upper weights had a big letdown. They need a heavyweight that is not from Mt Vernon unless it is Andy Schneider.
  7. I started a post earlier that eventually got locked, my intent was missed because the asthma camp got involved. This is not about injury time outs for asthma. I thought wrestlers abused injury time so they could get a breather. Does anyone agree with me?
  8. There was a team that only had eight wrestlers on its whole squad but finished top 18 in state. They beat both CP, and MD. Not right
  9. There was one wrestler that does not have asthma that took injury timeouts in two different matches to get a breather. One he won one he lost.
  10. Bigmak you didn't pay attention then. I could cite several instances this weekend, but I prefer not to mention individual wrestlers. They abuse the rule because they are allowed, it is a good strategy if you can get away with it. It cheats conditioned wrestlers though.
  11. Who said asthmatic wrestlers couldn't compete? I started the post because I thought wrestlers were taking advantage of injury time. Someone got offended because they are related to an asthmatic wrestler.
  12. Genetics are a major part of why state champs are what they are. Performance enhances like inhalers create an advantage for wrestlers using them.
  13. You're right. Conditioning shouldn't be part of wrestling
  14. I saw several wrestlers use injury time for rest, or to use inhalers. I think it should be a penalty. Conditioning is 1/3 of wrestling. Rule change needed.
  15. Dingo, I am not necessarily saying the best wrestler didn't win those particular series, but Freyer literally didnt do anything on the second match and he was gassed. To me Simmons was the better wrestler, was very unlucky, and would do better in London because of his style. He would give unfamiliar wrestlers problems
  16. I don't know how anyone else feels about this, but I just watched day two of the Olympic trials and can not undstand how the rules can be so terrible. I am especially upset over the Metcalf and Simmons last match. In both cases, the inferior wrestler won, which brings out a few questions I have. Maybe some of you that are more familiar with freestyle can inform me or complain with me. - can we even call freestyle wrestling the way it is today wrestling? It looks more like judo to me. -why is fitness not stressed in freestyle? (I'm serious here) is it because the rest of the world knows how much folk style is stressed in the US and the FILA rules are made to counter our superior fitness? -why is the passive wrestler rewarded? I particulary hate when two points are awarded when someone is in on a shot and they get flipped to their side 90 degrees for two points. -what does a push out have to do with wrestling? -how can there be video review in wrestling? -winning a top line freestyle match is 50% luck, how can a draw be involved? Maybe I am just partial to folk style and don't understand the nuances of freestyle, but the best wrestler does not always win unlike folk style. I will say though, the matches were very exciting, probably more than folk style, but it was artificially created drama, not the best man wins. I wrote this on my iPad, the autocorrect sucks, pardon the errors.
  17. Portage has some sic singlets, Clay's were the worst
  18. I think the official got caught up with the great wresting. I admit it was alot of action but the official gave campbell a reversall and back pts. at the end of the 2nd and in the 3rd gave petrov the pts. back
  19. Best finals match I have seen, as far as conpetitiveness. Worst officiating. Lucally, the one who won deserved it.
  20. Knowing that CP coach Rodriguez, he propably promised the ref a St. Elmos dinner for the call.
