  1. Mr. Right you be willing to bet Cool Points on it ?
  2. Alright didnt mean for there to be any misunderstanding, I know no one is planning on anybody getting hurt. I do understand where some of you are coming from. However the proof is still in the pudding, Fuqua (135) still beat two very talented wrestlers at his regional #6 and # 13. In my run down of how I think the match will play out I did not give Fuqua any bonus points, simply a decision. And regarding the question about Tsirtsis and Roach getting extra points. Went through Tsirtsis individual state brackets (mind you these are his underclassmen years Fresh/Soph) At a State caliber level he had 2 decisions (Quiroga/Jackson) over two unbeaten studs, 5 majors two of which were by 13 points, and 1 pin. Roach's stats at the State level have been mostly decisions, however I think if Coach Vlink needs bonus points Roach gets a major. CP gets 10 points out of these two weight classes.
  3. Bruschi I just dont see it happening, I understand the name Mater Dei carries a lot of weight. Fuqua (135) did take some time out for his knee to recover. But what he did this weekend I think his knee is showing no signs of weakness, I understand he is going to be wrestling some top notch guys at State. However planning ( I am not saying this is what you are doing) on a guy not to wrestle is not in the equation, at any given moment one of these wrestler could be out for the rest of the season. Most of these young men wrestle with injuries all year long, anybodys ACL, MCL could go at anytime. Even if Mater Dei bumps Boots up its going to cancel out, thats if they have a guy at 189 who can beat Langbehn. MD would get 3 and then give away 3 or possibly more.
  4. 103 Fuqua maj Seng 4-0 112 Goebel dec Saroff 4-3 (Very close match could go either way) 119 Burlison dec Pierre 7-3 125 Henderson dec Harvey 7-6 130 Halstead dec Mangold 10-6 135 Fuqua dec Schroeder 13-6 140 Tsirtsis pin Lannert 19-6 145 Roach maj Riggs 23-6 152 Flamme dec Weinzapfel 26-6 160 Sims maj Shurg 26-10 171 Schrewsbury dec... 29-10 189 Boots pin Langbehn 29-16 215 Kral pin Wright 35-16 285 Vanwinkle pin Swope 35-22 This is as close as I can see it getting, I am sure there may be some bumping. However I don't really see how its going to help I do not see many people able to beat Kral in the state at this current time. 125 and 130 may flip flop wins CP may win 125 and MD may win 130. However its very possible CP wins both of those. Then you go 135-152 where they will not lose, and I feel I even went on the low side on the amount of points CP could accumulate here. This match doesn't come any closer than 13 points.
  5. Got 103-171 from my dad he left early. Sorry dont know 189-285 if someone could help out greatly appreciate it.
  6. Finals 103 Fuqua dec Buckley 1-0 112 Petrov dec Saroff 13-7 119 Burlison dec Shane 2-1 125 Torres dec Harvey 5-3 130 Miller dec Halstead 135 Fuqua dec Katsafaros 4-2 140 Tsirtsis pin Marvos 145 Roach pin Butz 152 Flamme def Espinosa 160 Quiroz maj. dec Shurg 13-1 171 Crocker def Shrewsbury
  7. I am not sure what time the finals are, but the 2nd round is about half way over. Fuqua dec Micic 5-1 Fuqua dec Acuna 3-0 Finals Matches as follows: 103 Fuqua vs Buckley 112 Petrov vs ??? 119 ??? 125 ??? 130 Miller vs Halstead 135 Fuqua vs Katsafaros
  8. First round has been completed, there were no major upsets to speak of. There will be some dandy's in the second round ;D More updates to follow.
  9. Also because every team Regional with the exception of 1 was postponed due to snow/ice. So I am thinking it is somewhat of an issue across the whole state not just one Regional.
  10. Another thing to point out was Rocky was also being chased by the KGB.
  11. I would like to start this off by first responding to a couple ofpost made. I would hope that the Eastern wrestlers are not looked down upon because of this whole situation. I feel that the emotions displayed on these post have not been to attack the Eastern wrestlers. Rather these post have been made, because we love this underappreciated sport which often gets overshadowed. I also believe that people are just wanting to get to the bottom of this situation, even though a lot of the discussion has vered off onto reformatting Team State. I know I have stated this before, to all of you saying we don?t know the all of the circumstances involved. Yes you are correct I will give you that, why somebody hasn?t enlightened all of us is beyond me. The short and skinny (if there is such a thing)from what I gathered from this situation, Eastern wins their Sectional on Jan 29th, on Jan 31st a post is made. The basic details of the post are as such Eastern?s coach states that his team will not be participating in the Team Regional due to Illness and Injury. Throughout the post the subject of ?Staph Infection? comes about, as well as some stating we don?t care about the well being of the wrestlers. Some info I gathered from Mr. Cox?s response was that atleast 9 wrestlers would be advancing to Individual Regionals, and at least 11 wrestlers participated in the Oakhill Sectional. Sometime between Saturday evening an Monday morning 11 wrestlers (at least) went down to 7. Comments then are made well Eastern only has 7 wrestlers the best they could do is Tie. (There are no ties in Indiana High School Wrestling, even though the score may show 42-42 there is a winner). With this being said yes small chance of 7 wrestlers getting 7 pins in a team regional. However there is a chance even it?s a less than 1% that?s for the wrestling gods to decide not you, not me, not the moderator, not a coach, nobody. You may have your arguments against this, to me these are inadequate. Next topic, post about Team State being over after this year. As far as I know this is Feburary 2011 not Feburary of 2012. I am not saying that this is not an issue that needs to be dealt with, I am simply saying lets focus on what we have in front us now. In some of the post there seemed to be a hint of this issue possibly being a tactic to manipulate the IHSAA to change the format of the Team State tournament. I would hope that this was not the case, I am not going to make assumptions or jump to conclusions on this one. Just understand if this was done to intentionally slap this great sport in the face then shame on that person or people. We must play by the rules and abide by the laws no matter how much we may or may not agree with them. Lastly the post made on professionalism, I could not agree more. I find it sad if Easterns AD truly was not aware of this whole situation. Also that if the team only legitamately on had 6 wrestlers than there would be an ethical way to ask for a replacement team. I have a feeling that more post will follow about how I don?t know the truth of the situition, if you do then please provide us with it. Stating fact and figures of success does not nullfy this type of behavior. I am glad that Eastern is now going to participate in the team regional and I really do wish them the best of luck. It is unfortunate that these young men have been pulled into a situation like this.
  12. Ok this is starting to clear things up, here is my next question. Lets use 119 semi-state qualifiers from Logansport Regional just for an example. A wins the regional, B gets 2nd place, C gets 3rd place, D gets 4th place. Is there any possibility of any of these individuals meeting before the semi-finals ?
  13. Couple things after reading through all the post. First thing many of us dont know is the whole story, this is correct. However why doesnt someone come forward man up and provide us their version of the whole story? If you have nothing to hide than you hide nothing, we as a wrestling community have every right to know. Alot of what is being said is starting to remind me of professional sports. A single person being larger than the sport, taking it upon themselves to make their own calls on things that they shouldnt. People stating its this teams choice whether or not to compete in the STATES tournament, remember one thing it is the fans who makes all sporting events possible. Secondly for those of you who have the crystal ball and know who is and isn't going to win state every year take this into consideration. While I was in high school our team made it to team state 3 out of the 4 years. We never won the state title, but I would not trade those memories for anything. Traveling down to Center Grove being with your closest buddies, and going in to do battle, wrestling in front of more people than most will ever get a chance to. The year that we didn't make it down I would have given anything to be there again. Lastly posts being made about giving the healthy individuals some extra time by not competiting in the team regional making sense. WHAT? Please explain to me what this means, why do we endorse this, we have impressionable young wrestling adults reading this stuff. I can only imagine what would have happened to me if I would have went up to my coaches and said hey coach can you put someone else in for team regionals because I have to wrestle the individual tournament on Saturday. Looking back I know what would have happened, I can't post it on this messageboard. Then again our coaches "NO EXCUSES" type of attitude is what made our team as good as we were.
  14. Yeah or maybe when a mediocre football team wins their sectional, and then has to face a powerhouse team in the regional game the mediocre team should just withdrawl. Then we sit back and scratch our heads and wonder why wrestling gets a bad wrap. I understand every team is not going to make it to state or win a match at state, but shouldn't being Regional champions, or Semi-State champions be a goal to make for the team? You set these types of goals so you have something to go off of , so that kids can see the improvement that is being made.
  15. This is unbelievable !!! What kind of message is this sending to others in this sport? Don't know why anybody would create excuses for this type of behavior. If people want to do away with the state duals then just do away with wrestling altogother because that is the message this is sending. What is to say this type of attitude won't trickle right on down to the individual tournaments? Whats next a wrestler saying he or she doesnt want to wrestle a defending or 2x defending state champion because he or she already knows the outcome. For 99.9% of participants losing is inevitable in this sport, but guess what it does it makes you better, and builds character. Making the decision to not wrestle a team like Mater Dei, Yorktown, Penn, PM and etc, only hurts teams in the long run. No single person is bigger than this sport, and no one has the right to single handedly take away the dual tournament that many wrestlers train and look forward to.
  16. Alex Dolly Freshman Year- I believe lost in the ticket round Sophmore Year- 5th lost 3-2 to State Runner up Junior Year- 3rd lost 5-4 to State Champ (beat the State Runner up that year) Senior Year - 2nd lost 1-1 OT Criteria Does anybody know what he's up to these days?
  17. Was wondering if there is a set method for Semi-State brackets. I know that 1 seed wrestles 4 seed and 2 seed wrestles 3 seed first round. Are there designated spots at Semi-State where each specific regional filters into a certain section of the bracket?
  18. Crown Point sectional has been posted on IHSAA !!! ;D
  19. Katsafaros won 3-2, his previous two loses to Acuna were 3-1 loses. They both know each others style really well. Seems like whoever gets the takedown wins the match. Katsafaros is a beast if you go through all of his career loses you realize he has wrestled the best. He lost to Tsirtsis numerous times last year, and this year hes in the most stacked weight class in the state. Funny thing is wrestling is his second sport, hes a football stud too. Therefore he cant go to all the summer camps and such. Couldn't imagine what he could be if all of his time was focused on wrestling only. I am sure these two will more than likely meet again, best of luck to both of them throughout the rest of the season.
