  1. Hang in there Broadcastsport. We don't want you sitting at home, we need you in the field! You guys do a mighty fine job, you can afford a hiccup here and there. It was great that you guys made it to Indy for the Perry/Cathedral match. I'm an hour south and couldn't be there (plus, the weather stunk) but I got to see it by watching your broadcast. Thanks for your efforts.
  2. Thanks for the info about the Alaskan champ. I didn't realize she was a sophmore when she won. Incredible! Not to take anything away from her, or Alaska...but I've got to assume Indiana is much more of a wrestling state than Alaska. (I hope to heck we all agree on that...we have pride, right? lol) Anyway, Kayla is doing a helluva job!!
  3. Thanks for the info regarding the Alaskan champ. If I remember correctly, the girl from Alaska was a senior when she won state. Incredible feat, regardless of age. What I was really asking, (and didn't make very clear, sry) was her record as a younger high scool wrestler (freshman, sophmore) and whether that compared to Miracle's. Mville will certainly be a test, and a big one at that...but if the cards fall in her favor we may see something we've never seen before. She may once again, beat the odds...
  4. I remember that. Very impressive. Any idea of her record leading up to the big win? Is Miracle's comparable?
  5. Kayla Miracle seems to be on a roll once again. Not only does she have Olympic attention, but she also has a record that is among the best in the state. She's 30-1, with 17 pins. Her only loss is to previously ranked Zach Davis (5-2, I think) when she had to make scratch weight at 106 (was wrestling 113 prior). This weekend she was dominant at the Cathedral Invite, going 5-0 on the day! Has a female in Indiana (or anywhere else) ever had such a successful season(s)? As a freshman she was 38-2. Currently she's 30-1. Overall high school record is currently 68-3. That's a MONSTER record for any sophmore, regardless of gender! I understand she has to get through a tough semi-state at 106 (Merriville) to get to state, but it's certainly looking like she's got the stuff to make it happen.
  6. Any idea of when rankings will be updated? Not trying to be pushy, just anxious to see how such a big week of wrestling turned out.
  7. Curious as well. Very much looking forward to the new release. Tons of big matches and potential changes in rankings this past week. Any idea of when they will be posted?
  8. #8 Thacker, at 182, wrestled up to 195 due to B South injury and beat #15 Chowning (Warren Central) by fall.
  9. 152 - #10 Farmer (Bloomington South) beat #7 Riedling (Warren Central)
  10. Thank you. I wasn't sure of his last name. Very good wrestler.
  11. @160 #14 Seth Seitzinger (Bloomington South) beat #11 Ben Krege (Carmel), 3-1. I think Seitzinger's only loss (to #13 Warner, which Seitzinger was winning) early in the season was due to 'early season jitters'. He seems to be wrestling on a different level now. There's a good kid from New Pal @ 160 (Wennel?) that ran with #1 Johnson. 3-1 Johnson. It was a really competitive match. Not a lot of scoring but a lot of attempts and blocks. Seitzinger will have New Pal 2nd rnd, then Perry (Johnson) 3rd, and final round tmrw.
  12. It was a good match to watch. Torres had control of the first part of the match, then Broukal came back. Torres stepped up again. Torres won 11 - 7, (I think).
  13. How did the Portgage (Robinson(?)) vs Carmel (Krege) match go @ 160?
  14. Thanks for the info. Based on the teams mentioned above and the current individual rankings, I compiled a list of ranked wrestlers in each weight class. There are ranked wrestlers in every single weight class...gonna be a good one! 106 - #7 Cottey (Perry), #8 Cash (New Pal), #14 Peek (Portage) 113 - #3 James (Perry) 120 - #15 Kenny (Perry) 126 - #4 LeCount (Perry), #10 Torres (Portage), #15 Broukal (Bloomington South) 132 - #1 McKinley (Perry) 138 - #2 Bova (Perry) 145 - #7 Ulrey (New Pal), #16 McClurg ( Perry) 152 - #7 Riedling (Warren Central), #10 Ethan Farmer (Bloomington South) 160 - #1 Johnson (Perry), #11 Krege (Carmel), #14 Seitzinger (Bloomington South) 170 - #2 Masengale (Perry), #9 Fiddler (Bloomington South) 182 - #1 Lynde (Delphi), #8 Thacker (Bloomington South), #15 Martin (Perry) 195 - #13 Berumen (Delphi), #15 Chowning (Warren Central), #16 Ash (Perry) 220 - #13 Blades (Warren Central), #15 Naughton (Perry) HWT - #8 Winfield (Perry), #10 Carter (Warren Central) I know there's a lot of other wrestlers attending that are tough as nails but are not currently ranked that will make some noise.
  15. Any chatter out there about the North Montgomery Tourney next weekend? A lot of ranked teams and lot of ranked wrestlers will be there. Teams attending? Anticipated matches? Etc...?
  16. I saw the Lannert/Fellars match as well. Was super impressed with Lannert's speed. And, Fellars was a bulldog...kept fighting the whole way, and kept it close til that late move at the end. Awesome match with those two!! In addition to the mention of Farmer earlier, beating Adams, he also beat Bassemier a week prior 4-0.
  17. There's a lot to be said about many of the matches of the Jefffersonville Classic. Gotta good look at a lot of ranked wrestlers and a lot of good competition that challenged them. Awesome and exciting day of wrestling! Some of the notables from Bloomington South in the finals: - 126 Devin Broukal (Sophmore, SSQ) hung with 132 ranked Josh Pierre from Mater Dei. 5-6, Pierre. Pierre dropped this week to 126...curious to see his new ranking at 126 and if Broukal is noted as well. - 152 Ethan Farmer, formerly ranked and SQ, beat #15 Zach Adams. He then wrestled an awesome match against #4 Isaiah Bradley in the finals with a 1 point spread toward the end of the third. It was all or nothing for Farmer...cut him, take him down, settle it in OT. No such luck, in the final seconds there was a takedown scramble...Bradley wins 7-3. Great match. - 160 Seth Seitzinger #14, met up with Kentucky's Brandon Pledger in the finals. As of Dec. 4th Pledger was ranked #10 in the state. I've heard he has since moved to #4 (haven't verified). They both wrestled a very careful and controlled match. 2-1, Seitzinger...Tourney Champ. - 170 Clayton Fiddler #9, wrestled well all day and defended his ranking by winning the tourney...Tourney Champ. Not in finals, but certainly noteworthy: - 182 Dakota Thacker lost a VERY close match win #7 Dalton Brandenstein, 3-4 Brandenstein. In fact, Thacker was scoring in the last seconds of the match...buzzer blew, no score. Awesome match. Only loss on the day, Thacker 3rd. A week prior these two wrestled at Mater Dei. 3-1 Brandenstein. Thacker's only other loss this year is to #4 Austin Warren. Definitely worthy of a ranking check...
  18. Not sure of the criteria but he ended up a 5th seed. However, he proved that was wrong. He won the tourney. He won, convincingly, through the field. In the finals he won against a tough wrestler from Kentucky. Pledger (KY) was ranked #10 as of October. I heard he move to #4 since.
  19. Yeah, I thought that was strange too. I figured he'd be a 1 seed. Guess he'll have to go out and prove it in the end.
  20. Any word of the official seeding or brackets yet?
  21. I'm curious to know this as well. Does anyone have some info?
  22. Seth Seitzinger from Bloomington South had a great match with #11 Brock Warner (Center Grove), at 160. Seitzinger was leading the match in the first, and in the third before losing a takedown scramble. Seitzinger reversed in the third, but on the buzzer. No score. Great match! 5-4 Warner. Looking forward to that rematch later in the season.
