Nate Spangle
I wanted to know where we stacked up so I spent the evening in TrackWrestling and Excel. Apologies if I left anyone out, I based it off of top finishers last year and anyone I saw that seemed to be doing well this year. (Let me know if you feel like you were slighted.) Category assignments are still as of 2020. (Per the heading in the doc) Would love to know how these updated. The heading "Expected # of Individuals Advancing by Team Strength" doesn't appear to update annually? To put it in perspective in 2020 in our sectional the standings were: Cathedral (14) North Central (10) Mt. Vernon (13) Lawrence North (7) Lawrence Central (4) Tech (4) Brebeuf (2) Chatard (1) School for the Deaf Vs this year Cathedral (14) Chatard (8) Mt. Vernon (9) North Central (9) Lawrence North (8) Tech (3) Brebeuf (2) Lawrence Central (3) School for the Deaf (1) School for the Blind *Number in parentheses is advancers. To me that looks like an increase in "Expected # of Individuals Advancing by Team Strength" between Chatard and LN. Comparing our top 5 finishers to two of the "5" rated sectionals Jay County (12) Bellmont (11) Adams Central (12) Norwell (8) South Adams (5) or Carmel (11) HSE (11) Fishers (10) Westfield (8) Lebanon (7) Not asking for a change in difficulty ratings just curious on how that is calculated. Since the graph in there isn't super self explanatory. ----- I used the 2022 scoring criteria and I rated Centerville Sectional as a 4. (But after diving into it deeper it might be a 3.) This does include bonus points for lineups. 1. Jay County 156 (12) 2. Bellmont 150 (11) 3. New Prairie 142 (12) 4. Delta 140 (13) 5. Monrovia 138 (6) 6. Western 135 (10) 7. Heritage Hills 134 (12) 8. Owen Valley 126 (7) 9. Centerville 122 (12) 10. Rensselaer Central 120 (13) 11. Glenn 118 (9) 12. Oak Hill 117 (10) 13. Wawasee 117 (11) 14. Norwell 114 (8) 15. Northwood 113 (9) 16. Hamilton Heights 113 (11) 17. Southridge 112 (10) 18. Garrett 111 (11) 19. Maconaquah 107 (9) 20. Chatard 106 (8) 21. Beech Grove 102 (8) 22. Mount Vernon (Posey) 100 (7) 23. Peru 94 (7) 24. Indian Creek 93 (3) 25. Yorktown 87 (10) The number in parentheses is wrestlers still remaining. I probably have some math wrong somewhere. There were a few kids who's grades weren't entered. But this is pretty close to where we all. Good luck chasing down Jay County. 10 kids in the top 2 at sectionals and 8 of them are underclassmen. Kudos to them for building a great program. OICU182
Thanks for putting this together. I’ve thought about doing the same math by weight class but haven’t found the time. Nate Spangle
