You have earned a spot in the 2011 BATTLE OF THE BRIDGE ALL-STAR MEET. Jefferson County, KY?s, top two wrestlers will wrestle the top two wrestlers from  Clark/Floyd County, Indiana in these inaugural All-Star Duals.  This letter is to let you know what will be expected of you for the ALL STAR DUALS. Your wrestling coach(s) is invited to coach you during your match ? if he is not there coaches will be assigned to you.  College coaches from around the country will be sent your bio?s so that they can keep track of you in these duals.

Guidelines

-Tourney entry fee: $35 - The money that is charged for each kid will pay the referee, tourney sanctioning fee to USA Wrestling, event program, pay for mailing to the colleges, building usage fee, awards and purchase the t-shirts for the event.  

- Wrestlers will wear their high school uniform (warm-up, singlet, headgear, and shoes).

-  Two MVP awards will be given (an Indiana, and a KY), and fastest pin award for the night.

-You must wrestle the same weight class that you wrestled in at your qualifying tourney.

- This is a USA Wrestling sanctioned event ? you must have a USA Wrestling card to participate

- Bring a t-shirt from your home school as an exchange gif

- If spots are not filled by your team leader?s selected date, the team leader will go down the tourney placement list until he has attempted contact on each wrestler, then may use any wrestler from the County to fill that spot.

Like the idea.  Wish we could of had more people involved when we I did the courier area team stuff a few years back to do this.

March 7th -

First practice for Battle of the Bridge took place.

 

Practice went great - we had kids from Floyd Central, New Albany, Christian Academy, Eastern Pekin and Jeffersonville all practicing together.  We went through two 40 minute drill sessions and two 20 minute live sessions and all worked very hard. 

 

Next practice is March 10th - 5-6:30

Practice went great again - we had wrestlers from Christian Academy, Jeffersonville, Floyd Central, and Corydon.

Worked a half hour on setups for shots, half hour for set ups on throws, and went live for 40 minutes in all.

 

Great practice tonight, the next one will be NEXT THURSDAY. There is no practice on Monday due to our high school banquet. 

 

Please try and get me all your paperwork before spring break.  We will be mailing the packets of all your information to colleges all over the country, I need the time over spring break to prepare this.

REPORT ON THURSDAY NIGHT BATTLE OF THE BRIDGE PRACTICE

 

Great job last night!! 47 wrestlers from Jeffersonville, Corydon, Eastern Pekin, New Washington, and Floyd Central put in 2 hours of drilling, live, speed drills and weight room.  Lots of energy and hardwork going on.

 

The next practice will be next thursday - 6pm due to our spring break.

Good practice over spring break - we had 27 in the room, we lifted, drilled and went live.

 

Our last Battle of the Bridge Practice is tonight 4:30-6:30.
