To label Yorktown a prohibitive favorite today in the Delaware County wrestling tournament is an understatement. Try overwhelming.

The county tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. at Wes-Del and barring an upset of epic proportions, the Tigers will win their 13th title in the past 14 years.

The question is: Will undefeated Yorktown (16-0) match or better its dominant performance from last year? The Tigers won 13 of 14 weight classes, with 11 of those by pin, and beat second-place Wes-Del by 162 points.

"There's some good wrestlers in the different weight classes. That would be a tall task," Yorktown coach Trent McCormick said of possibly winning all 14 weight classes. "No matter who's favored or not favored, I remember 15 years ago when we were the underdogs and we were trying to work our way up to knock Delta off."

Yorktown returns eight champions from last year in Jake Anderson, Derek Bevans, Trent Castner, Jordan Dulaney, Cody Harper, Andrew Hiestand, Kyle Mosier and Ross Janney.

Seven of those eight Tigers won their championship matches by pin. Hiestand won his final in a tournament-best 14 seconds. Anderson, Dulaney and Janney followed close behind, all winning their matches in under a minute.

Delta sophomore Steve Gonzales prevented Yorktown from a sweep last year. He won the 103-pound class and returns in pursuit of another title, this time at 112.
