GARY | Lew Wallace head coach Fred Nolan may have summed up assistant coach David Walton's role with this year's Hornets best.

"That young man is a blessing," Nolan said.

Walton graduated from Wallace in 2002, then got his degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue. Then he came back, got a job with U.S. Steel, got married, played semi-pro football with the Lake County Steelers for five years, began working as a youth minister and then volunteered as a wrestling and football coach at his alma mater.
