  1. The Viking Wrestling Tournament at Valparaiso High School on February 10th will be held in the main gym. The flier says field house and gym. We are going to be running Pee-Wees through Intermediates round robin style. Our goal is for the little kids to get at least three matches. Novice through Cadet will be bracket style.
  2. He is fighting at 5:20 P.M. Central time.
  3. The project is about a financial issue at a school. Well, my school is in the process of discussing a new wrestling room. There are a lot of financial issues involved with this. I assure you, it is for my project. All of the suggestions and issues posted above are issues I have already incorporated into my project. I am going to put a link to this discussion so people in my class can see that the issues that I discussed in the project are not just my opinion. Thanks for the two in depth posts. I already had all of these points in the project and this just reassures me that I was thinking on the right track.
  4. I feel like a broken record. I know this is true. Rooms are more than just nice to have and good to look at though. I don't want posts like this because I know this is true. There are some advantages when it comes to facilities. If you don't have a room and there is no space for you to practice in the off season then you are at a disadvantage. I feel that it is unfair to the kids to see that other sports are having facilities upgraded and we do not even have a room. I tell my kids everyday that we do not need a room to be successful and we are making great strides. I am trying to get some thoughts and reasons on the benefits of a room, not just posts that state the obvious fact that it is not necessary to have a room to be successful.
  5. Yes, I understand that programs can be successful without a room. Just trying to get the advantages for having one. Thanks again to all who post.
  6. I am doing a project for my masters about how important a wrestling room is. I understand that it is still possible to be successful without a wrestling room. Just wondering some thoughts of others on the level of importance and some reasons why. I will be setting up a link on my power-point so that anyone who views my project can see all of your thoughts. Thanks for your help.
  7. Hey Nick. This is Hemry. I might be a little different than most people but I never lifted in high school and do not lift to much now. I felt that my strength and conditioning was amongst the best ever. I did lift in college and became stronger. I feel that lifting is important overall. Like I said, I think that I am a little different than most, but I encourage my kids to lift.
  8. I really think that the entire thing is screwy. We are in this for the kids. The only fair way to run this is with wrestle backs and have all the matches at 2 -2 -2. It doesn't matter how much time it takes. It is all for the kids. How can someone justify wrestling for 3rd and 4th in state and only having the periods 1 -2 -2? We wrestle JV matches during the year 2 -2- 2. This is all for the kids and changes need to be made to make it fair.
  9. I didn't doubt that Spence has the ability to beat him, but with head to head criteria Cahill has two wins to Spence's zero. I actually think they are pretty equal, but you still have to rank Cahill above Spence.
  10. I still do not see how you can have Spence of Portage over Cahill from Valpo. Cahill has beaten him both times they have wrestled.
  11. Cahill from Valpo has beaten Spence from Portage twice and faces Halsted tomorrow night.
  12. Valparaiso, 3A, Yes Matt Hemry
  13. Sean was supposed to fight but he didn't.
  14. He fought at Atlantis Gentelmans Club in Ford Heights. He won in the second round due to punches.
