Region sends 9 Champions to State out of Merrillville S.S. , what a great accomplishment . Way to go Pauly , what a great match .

Not sure if it's a upset , but Petrov beats Brooks ot .

If she was put in one of the other three brackets , you would have a better chance of her wrestling 285 next year , than making State this year .

Has to be at Portage , where you have 3 out of the top 10 teams in the state . Who ever wins the Merr. - C.P .match up will win that Regional .

I agree totally that the Times and Post both don't give the REGIONS wrestling enough press . It's sad that you have 3 out of the top 10 teams in the state in NWI and nothing is hardly printed , how many other sports here can say that . There's a good chance NWI could produce 6 or more state champs this year , nothing is said about CP being #2 in the state with 8 new wrestlers after winning it all last year , talk about something that the Region can be proud of because it sure isn't football . Mark Smith from The Star ( a local paper) is the only one committed to giving wrestling any coverage , but it's 80% Crown Point .

Not being cocky at all , actually the oposite , with C.P. as young as they are and Merr. being a very mature team I'm really shocked what C.P. has done this year . I'm looking more toward next year when C.P. only loses 4 wrestlers to graduation and the rest of the DAC loses a ton . But in wrestling who knows what could happen , I had my money on the Pirates for the DAC Conf. this year .

Reloading would be adding a few kids , Crown Point added 8 new kids with Kral only having a few 08-09 varsity matches and Saroff only having one . Everyone says it's reloading because they're having great success , you have to give Vlink a lot of credit . They're only losing 4 Seniors and bringing Halsted back next year and 7 out of the 8 new kids are getting a lot of experience for 010 .
