  1. Totally agree with you! Our wrstling team won conference , which hadn't been done since '92, last year and then sectionals, which had never been done. The only thing the school did was announce it at 1/2 time of th bball game. Nothing more was ever mentioned about it. ???
  2. Another saying that I like is Balls..... They play with them we got em' Wrestlers rock!
  3. I agree totally! I have a daughter that wrestles and she would do anything to wrestle at State when she is in high school!
  4. Like I said in the Women's Post I believe there should be a seperate Womens Division, but if a school does not have a female tema then the girls should be allowed to be on the guys team!
  5. I think it will be a repeat Winner from last year! GO TROJANS!!
  6. I believe that there should be a seperate womens division. But if a school doesn't have a female team then the girls should be allowed to wrestle on the guys team!
  7. My vote goes to Rehn gotta stay with my WC boy!! Go Trojans!
  8. I know both boys, and think it will be very interesting. That is if the are at the same weight. Not sure about that. We'll just have to wait and see. I know they will both give it their all maybe even more so they have bragging rights over the cousin! lol ;D
  9. This is great!!! I love that they are taking women in wrestling seriously!
  10. I have to second what groundhog said here. 115lb guys shouldn't be able to hold their own on a mat with 165lb guys, and if they do it's because the 165lb guy is a fish. If weight wasn't a factor, we wouldn't have weight classes! i didn't say they didn't beat her I just said she could hold her own. They do beat her, and I know these boys and have for most of there lives and they will not just roll over and let her win. they give it there all. and they are not fish. they are good wrestlers. She wrestles with the bigger guys in pracrice then when she gets on the mat guys her own size aren't as much of an issue.
  11. Good Luck to all the female wrestlers out there. I also wish all the guys the best of luck and a safe season.
  12. As long as the girls and her parents know the risk, I see no point in changing anything that they are doing. I know my daughters coach does not change anything. He wants her to be ready to wrestle the best, so she wrestles the best that we have in practice. She is around 115 and most days in practice she is going against our bigger guys most are around 165 and up. and she holds her own with them.
  13. My daughter came in 2nd in conference last year. SHe beat 3 boys to do so. and competed well with the guy that won. took him 3 rounds and lost by points.
  14. I am the new Women's Director for the ISWA and I have seen all kinds of women's wrestling the past four years. I have seen extremely good wrestlers who have well over 100+ wins in their HS career and I have seen some terrible women wrestling where they almost fall to straight to their backs. Let me preface this by saying that I have seen national champ men wrestlers and I have seen men who almost fall straight to their backs. My point is that the women need support and training to be great wrestlers, just like the guys. I am in full support of having a seperate women's HS division for women, but that will not occur until we support all of the women and encourage them to continue to wrestle. As these posts point out, there is mixed support out there. As women's director, I don't expect anyone to treat the women any different and expect no less from them if the elect to wrestle on a mens team. Support and grow women's wrestling. Trust me it's not going to go away. The more support and participation there is, the more the women will compete and train together. For those who don't want to wrestle women, why? Most have wrestled for years and have been in every situation that you could put her in while wrestling. Just support your women wrestlers, encourage them, show them the opportunities in women wrestling. Most women wrestlers get involved the same way the men do, they have a father, brother, or cousin that wrestles. Just treat them the same as you would anyone else on your team! For more information about women's wrestling see iswa.com (women's wrestling information), usgwa.com, and themat.com (women) STRUB1 i would like to thank you for all that you do! it must be a very difficult job showing that women can compete in a man's sport. I have no problem with boys being in girls sports, as a matter of fact, i support it 100%. My daughter is is a wrstler , and like you said she got into the sport because of her dad nad uncle. He uncle was the 1stand only to go to state from our school. She wants to try as hard as she can to make it there someday too.
  15. The reason I posted this topic, is because my daughter is a wrestler. She is only in the 8th grade, but she puts in as much work as most of the guys, and more than others. She has gone to wrestling camp, and was the only girls there. The coaches that were there were very impressed with her. They thought she was very good. She puts her whole heart and body into the sport. We have had a couple of parents at our shcool that have a problem with it, but our coach has been wonderful. Wehave had other girls on our team in the past, and most were just a joke. My feeling on the topic is that if the girlsouts the time and effort in, and is not just there to screw around with the boys let them do it.
  16. Just wanted to know how you would feel if you had a female wrestler on your team?
  17. is Rowe still at NW? I thought he was a WC this year.
  18. It's not always for athletic reasons. I have a friend that transfered her oldest daughter last year, and just this year switched her younger 3 kids. When she transfered her oldest it was because the school she was at did not work for her. IT did at the time work for the younger ones. Then after seeing the academic differences between the schools she decided to switch all 4 for them for this schol year. I see no problem with kids transfering schools. Just because a school is right for one kid does not mean it is okay for another. If a local school would offer classes that my oldest would need to do better on her chosen path I would not have a problem tranfering her and leaving my other 2 where they are at! Also if my daughter who has alot of athletic talent is not going to be seen at the school she is at y not tranfer her somewhere that she is going to be seen. She is only in jr high right now, but she is a wrestler and plans to continue through high school.
  19. Your right West Central will be tough this year they only lost a few boys, and they are not the boys that went to semi state.
