  1. We were fortunate to get to tour Budapest and train there for two days before coming to Szombathely. It has been a great experience.
  2. Results story from themat.com http://themat.com/section.php?section_id=3&page=showarticle&ArticleID=24001
  3. Thanks Raven....I have learned a lot through this experience as well. Our country will never be able to compete for a team title until there are major changes made. It is mostly a cultural thing. With some countries wrestling is a national sport. In America it is a sidenote. Folkstyle hurts us when it comes to competing internationally.
  4. Russia got beat by Japan 2-1, 1-0. Japan should dominate finals against Moldovia....the draw is so important here.
  5. Hungary just lost to Russia....I believe the score was 1-0, 0-1, 1-0.....it went to clinch. Bottom of bracket is just ridiculously loaded. Nobody in top bracket. Kayla will not medal. Wrestling at this level is so much about position, hand fighting, fundamentals.1-0 is good enough. If you can't score then draw from the bag and go to the clinch. You cannot sacrifice position in a scoring attempt. Kayla lost against Hungary on a mental mistake. She was winning 1-0 off of a good takedown with 10 seconds to go. All she had to do was circle and defend. Instead she took a bad shot and the girl hit a go behind to win the period. Kayla lost second round on a push out. Position, position, position!
  6. Kayla loses 1-0, 1-0, to European champion from Hungary. Now needs Hungary to make finals to wrestle in repechage or she is done and does not medal.
  7. Kayla will have European champion from Hungary next. Home field advantage goes to them....it will get very loud and we will not get any calls...if close will be very political.
  8. Kayla pins KAZ opponent in first period! Takes her down with slide by to the right....almost turns her with high gut....comes to feet.....fireman's to dump to fall!
  9. Kayla will be the first match of the tournament on the center mat.....30 minutes to go.
  10. At arena....going through light warm up. At this point...it is mental.....one match at a time....5 in a row for a world championship.
  11. The bottom half of The 49K bracket has North American champion (Kayla), Asian champion, and European champion. Whoever wins that side will dominate in finals. Crazy draw but, with pull through system in effect.....not bad if you are second or third best....if you are best it doesn't matter anyway....you will just have your toughest match earlier and then have easier finals.
  12. Kayla's bracket......no easy road to the world title.....no film on first opponent found so far (if you find some let me know) plenty of film on Hungarian European Champion who she will have in second round...tough wrestler but, beatable. Finals may be second round tomorrow. wrestling starts at 7am your time. wish kayla luck and send her your prayers.......she wants them playing Americas National Anthem and raising the stars and stripes when she is on the podium....what w great opportunity to represent your country in a setting like this. whatever happens tomorrow....it will be emotional. http://www.fila-wrestling.com/szombathely2011/

  14. Went for running session...Kayla on weight....medical check in 30 minutes then straight to weigh-ins....Kayla drinking water to stay right below 49K. In good spirits ready to fight for it....make no mistake....it will be a fight....lots of very tough customers here......the worlds best......they are not going to give this away......Kayla will have to take it! Very intense feeling when you walk into the Arena....not many friendly faces....people seem borderline angry.....I have a feeling USA will not be getting the calls on the close ones.
  15. Facebook link: http://www.facebook.com/lmiracle20 Hooyah Matt Kayla is blessed has been blessed with good health, she is in high spirits, and confident in her chances. She only has one goal as the youngest in her weight class.....win it! As of right now the countries we know that are represented at 49K are USA, AUS, AUT, AZE, BUL, CAN, HUN, ITA, JPN, KAZ, MDA, MGL, POL, ROU, RUS, TUR, UKR, VEN
  16. We arrived in Szombathaley, Hungary.....Long bus ride from Budapest....Kayla weighs in tomorrow night.
  17. Kayla Miracle of Culver Academy just finished the Cadet World Team camp at the Olympic Education Center and arrived in Hungary this afternoon. She will be competing for the world title this week. Wish her luck and send her your prayers as she hopefully culminates her Freshman year with a Cadet World Title. I will try to update everyone as things happen over hear. My Facebook will be updated with pictures and news as we go. Feel free to friend me if you are interested in Kayla's journey.
  18. Congratulations Stevan! Kayla and I are always cheering for you. I see you two in the Olympics some day.
  19. Kayla Miracle wins Canada Cup in her first international competition with the Cadet World Team. Kayla wrestles for Culver Academy for high school, and Hoosier Elite during the summer. In the past few months Kayla has won several titles. She started by becoming the first ever to win two USA Woman's Folkstyle National titles in two age divisions, both Cadet 108, and Junior 105 in Oklahoma City, OK. Then she won the Body Bar Nationals title at Cadet 108 which earned her a spot on the Cadet World Team in Kissimmee, FL. And now in her first international competition with that team she wins the Canada Cup. Congratulations Kayla! Everyone wants to be a champion but, so few want to do what is required to be a champion. You are one of those rare few. Keep it up and someday you will achieve your Olympic dreams.

  21. Hoosier Elite is 1-4 after the second day in the District All-Star Division. We have zero undefeated wrestlers right now. Kayla Miracle and Trevor Moody both lost to Team Diesel. As a matter of fact we did not have anyone win a legitimate match against them. Suter received a forfeit. We lost against Team Diesel (defending champions) 58-6 and then lost to Ohio Lightening Hawks 32-16. Tough day for us against very tough competition. We wrestle at 10am tomorrow morning against Nebraska White and then at 4pm against Wadsworth Massachusettsto round out our pool competition. We will then start wrestling in our placement bracket.
