  1. Bluemonster

I really do this for fun and don't take it personal at all.   I just think you guys way under estimate they guys from the other regionals.

You will have a lot more guys from Hamilton and Boone Co.  in the top 4.   I don't know the guys from out by New Castle and Richmond as

much.  So they will have to speek up for them selfs.

I would say guys like,  VanCamp, Steel, Hipple, Bocock, M. Pruitt,  Irick, Anderson, Wallace, Stansberry, Greg, Chastain, Heavy weight Chastain, Flood, Bane.

Will all finsh higher than you have them.  I know I am missing a buch of guys.  So if you are from the red headed 3 regionals please help me out.

  2. Well, then hopefully when Dingo does the official rankings he doesn't put your son before James or McKinney!

There is no doubt that James has earned the right to be ranked #1.  I would never take that away from him.

That has to be earned on the mat and he has done that.

Matt is a great kid and a really good wrestler.  I mean no disrept to him at all.   It probably came off that way so

    for that I am sorry.

When I looked at your rankings.  It was just typial... almost all guys from your regional and very few from the other 3.

Just know that there are a lot of really good guys coming for the other 3 regionals.  I think last year I called it "the

    Light Blue colored glasses".

  3. He has not wrestled James in a couple of years. He has wrestled McKinney several times in the last couple of years. Won all but 1 freestyle match. James and McKinney are both very good and should be a fun weight.

  4. I really appreciate all the input & as I stated in my original post, I am not directly involved, but do know both the coach & young man involved. For those that are implying there is a disciplinary reason, absolutely not the case. Attitude, grades & attendance are all on point. Yes matches are close & neither are ranked or "studs" but the outcome is the same, a close victory by same young man each time. Odd part is both kids are friends & get along, while one is disappointed in the coaches decision, the other appears almost embarrassed by accepting a spot he hasn't "earned".

If what is say is true.  It makes no sense as is.  Winner gets the spot.

I would suggest taking it up with the coach.  If you have issue with the way it is being handeled.

  5.    If it is for non-wrestling disipline issues.  I am 100% on the side of the coach.

If it is just the coach making a choice... that is a different story.   But I would agree,  that there is probably another

    side of the story.

  6. Am I too far removed from High School wrestling with my elevated age that things have changed on how varsity spots are earned? I always remember challenges between 2 or more kids @ a similar weight determining who was varsity & junior varsity. I was informed last night that a local high school kid (no not my son), a senior, was informed by his head coach that even if he made weight & won his wrestle off, he was not guaranteed a varsity spot on his team. Lots of variables I know, before you ask...grades? Not an issue, high honor roll. Attitude? No way, young man is quiet & well manored. He has wrestled for 7-8 years, decided he wanted to make his senior year special so he dropped 15-20 lbs, with extra workouts on his own time, showed up every practice/workout, & won the battle for his weight class & was told by his clueless coach that he is not sure he will allow him to wrestle varsity, the young man he beat may be "chosen" over him for the starting line up. Since when does the wrestle off between the 2 athletes, decided in the room, on the mat, not decide who is varsity?

The only explanation would be if he felt like he was or is cutting to much weight.  Other than that wrestle offs are the only way to go.

  7.

Let me correct part of my statement.  The amount of kids willing to make the sacrifice is dramatically less.  Talent and skill are better because of more opportunity than there used to be.  Like Y2CJ41 said, "You put Ellis, Gable, etc. in this era and they would thrive just as much."

    Y2CJ41

I agree with you on that.  That is why I said if they trained today they would be one of the top guys.  But I still say, if you take the exact 17 year old Lance Ellis.

And match him up against the top guy at his weight from today.   I would give the edge to the guy from today.

Man I wish I was good enough in High School to have people talking about me 25 years later.

  8.  If you are saying we worked harder than the kids today.  You must be in the wrong room!

The good kids today train 10-12 months a year.  They train against better compition.

And train better and harder than we ever did.

  9.    All I know is that I wrestled at the same time Lance did,  and the wrestling today is way better than it was then.

I think Lance himself would admit to that.  With that said.  If you are compairing the exact wrestler Lance was then

to the guys that are wrestling today.  I give the edge to the guys today.  I you are saying if Lance was training today and

wrestling today.  He would diffinently be one of the top guys in the State.

Is that too political correct of an answer?

  10. I would NOT be surprised at all, Drew has taken his talents and skills to the next level, he's not only extremely strong but also solid in all positions. I am NOT surprised one bit either, he's not only a great kid but will be a TOP 5 wrestler in the nation at his weight class by the time he graduates IMO.

Drew's top game is on the next level!

  11.   This is coming from a guy who's son has had the privilege of competing against both of

these outstanding wrestlers.  You never know how these things will go but to my eye.

This is a couple point match either way.  This may come down to who has the best top game.

  12. Nick Lee's Fargo results:

    Round 1: Bye

    Round 2: TF 11-0

    Round 3: TF 13-3

    Round 4: TF 13-2

    Quarterfinal: TF 15-5

    Semifinal: TF 10-0

    Championship: TF 11-0

Here are the facts which led to my unbiased opinion of the James vs. Lee match up.

So by your logic.  Lee would have teched or majored his way threw the 132 State Finals last year?
