  1. I always find it humorous when people say a wrestler wins because he "plays the edge of the mat". That might just be smart wrestling. I think it is actually very poor wrestling to not defend yourself properly or wrestle sloppy when you are on the edge of the mat. MD continues to wrestle and often gets takedowns becasue their opponents let up. If you don't want to be on the edge of the mat there is a very simple solution....move back to the center. I'm sure if the MD wrestler refuses or "pulls" you to the edge the referee will call stalling. Henderson doesn't impress you. I guess I didn't realize you were accoustomed to such a high standard of wrestling :-)
  2. 103 MD advantage 112 Toss up based on what I have seen. 119 MD advantage 125 MD advantage 130 Castle advantage 135 Toss up 140 MD advantage 145 MD advantage----I know many will argue since Castle won in OT at SIAC, but having seen both matches MD has the advantage. 152 Castle advantage --- however, MD is more than capable of winning this class 160 MD advantage 171 Castle advantage---again though...MD could pull this one out. 189 Castle advantage 215 Castel advantage HVY MD advantage although anything can have with the heavies. That shows MD with the advantage in 7 classes with Castle advantage in 5 classes with two classes (and one could argue about 3 others) being a toss up. Any upsets in this dual will be huge as well as bonus points. I do think MD has a better chance of gettting bonus points but that's just my opinion.
  3. In this mathup you have very close matches at 112, 135, 145, 152, 189, 215, HVY. I don't really see any bumping around that will help either school too much. 112 has split, 135 has split, 145 has split, 152 has been close but is Castle's to lose (same at 189 and 215). Hvy has been a good match but MD has pulled that one out. MD must get bonus points everywhere they can and I am sure that Castle wrestlers will be instructed to wrestle very conservatively where they are overmatched.
  4. Seeds should look something like this: 103: Reitz, Harrsion, MD 112: Reitz. MD, Castle-----this is a critical class for SIAC. Anyone could win it but I think Adler should be back to top form after his injury. 119: Reitz, MD, ??? 125: MD, Reitz, North-----This is another class where upsets could happen. 130: Reitz, MD, CA----This is another class where anything can happen and the #1 seed is important 135: MD, CA, MEM-----Important match for MD/CA 140: MD, CA, ???? 145: MD, CA, ??? 152: CA, MD, Reitz-----Several close matches here all year as well. 160: MD, CA, Reitz 171: MEM, CA, MD 189: CA then ??????-----This class is wide open as far as I can tell. 215: CA, MEM, MD -----Another class that I see as wide open HVY: MEM, MD, CA-----Anything can happen with heavies. MD should be a clear favorite but there have been a lot of close mathes over the year and only see two classes where MD should clearly win (140, 145). Reitz has two classes they should clearly win (103, 119) although Nutsdad might dispute 103. I only see one class where CA is a clear favorite (152). All the other classes have had such close matches all year that I think anyone could win it. Beyond that MD should have the advantage with seeding. Many of these matches will happen all over again at Regionals.
  5. MD is obviously rolling through on that pic :-) That aside....its a picture, don't know what hapenned before or prior. That aside, I don't see a tech at 125 nor pins at 135 (or even a R win here) or 171. Other weight predictions are at least arguable.
  6. WOW....prett bold prediction by the beast! However, MD will have at least two falls, and Reitz will only have a fall if someone gets caught, however, they have some guys capable of catching you. There are a lot of things that need to go the way of Reitz to actually pull an upset her but there should be several outstanding matches.
  7. Where would Reitz bump anyone around to get an advantage. I see Reitz disadvantaging themsleves if they bump anybody. That said, MD has, thus far, outperformed everyone's expectations. We'll see if they keep it up. As far as the Sims comments. Maybe he had the flu, who knows, but he looked great in Oakville. Reitz only has two weight classes where I think they are certain to win but if they wrestle well they and get a few upsets it will be a heck of a dual.
  8. It was a good match, but Henderson definately controlled it. As I recall the score was 5-2. Seems like Henderson had 2 takedowns and an escape. Sulawske might have had 3. I'm going off memory and its a couple of weeks old now.
  9. You say that the state series is for about 16 teams. I agree. Ten years ago is was for 3 teams (and one might argue oone team). However, the focus on the dual team state has improved the quality of wrestling in Indiana. In ten more years maybe there will be 32 teams with a legitimate shot.
  10. Couldn't a head coach forfeit his meaningless dual and let the alternate or thrid place team wrestle? Same holds true in that many kids get injured in football in games their team has no chance of winning and it keeps them out of the wrestling season. Unfortunate for the young man listed, but that is one example out of how many thousands of wrestlers?
  11. This could be interesting. MD wrestled 5 reserves at the Holiday Classic and barely won. MD has the Oakville Duals this weekend and if a few kids are banged up Schaeffer could save them for sectionals. If that occurs, things could get interesting in a hurry.
  12. Not sure who will win...but great matches Mish - Don't kid yourselves by who they lost. They have a strong program and are starting to look a bit like MD in that they are just reloading as opposed to rebuilding. Plus, they are the champs----you have that until it is taken away. MD- Very young team. May not get it this year but look for another streak beginning in 2010. Lots of young talent. That said, they have a very good dual team and excellent coaching. They won't lose by more than one match. Cathedral - They have lost to two very good teams. Don't count them out. Plus Cathedral always seems to do better than expected. Perry/Crown Point - No offense to you guys but it seems you always underperform. They have the talent but I am just not a believer yet. It certainly comes down to draws but I think MD/Mish and Cathedral are the top three.
  13. Not sure why everyone is discounting MD at 112 since Brown got stuck by our JV. 125, Henderson will for sure be in the mix and I think will take it. At 130, Maurer hasn't wreslted that weight yet so I'm not sure why everyone is picking him??
