  1. Reinoehl gets green light for Mishawaka TIM CREASON Tribune correspondent Christmas has come late for a Mishawaka High School wrestler whose senior season appeared to be over before it began. By a 6-2 vote, the Case Review Panel of the Indiana Department of Education has restored athletic eligibility for Trent Reinoehl, reversing a previous decision by the Indiana High School Athletic Association. Reinoehl's eligibility was revoked by the IHSAA before the season because his family does not live in Mishawaka's school district. Reinoehl, who competes in the 135-pound weight class, may now wrestle at next Saturday's IHSAA sectional tournament at Mishawaka, assuming he can win a spot in the Caveman varsity lineup. The decision follows a day-long hearing Friday in Indianapolis during which the eight-person review panel heard testimony from the Reinoehl family and the IHSAA.Mishawaka coach Darrick Snyder said Reinoehl must challenge teammate Aaron Mersich, a starter most of the season, for the team's 135-pound slot. "It's not like (Trent) just walks in and he's our guy," said Snyder. "We have a procedure to follow anytime somebody wants to challenge for a (varsity) position. He has to earn it." However, Snyder said, it is realistic to believe Reinoehl will be successful. "I think Trent will contend for a state championship," said Snyder. "He's that good." Snyder said Reinoehl has practiced with the Cavemen every day, and been a fixture on the sidelines at every meet.Reinoehl has been putting in the same work as the rest of the top-ranked Cavemen. "It's not like Trent walks in Monday and it's the first time we've seen him in four months," said Snyder. "His drill partners are (state champions) Josh Harper and Steven Sandefer. How do you prepare better than that? There's bound to be a little rust, but I think he'll shake that off pretty quick." Attempts to reach the Reinoehl family for comment were unsuccessful. Mishawaka's team got the news during a meet at No. 2 (Division 2) Lowell, Mich., where the Cavemen won 35-19. "The guys were celebrating and I had to take them into the locker room and say, 'Hey, we've got to refocus,'" said Snyder."We've told the team right from the start that Trent would keep trying to get his eligibility restored. If he was successful, he would challenge for a varsity spot," said Snyder. "It's kind of a tough situation, but to a man, the team is supportive. "We did our homework on this," Snyder said. "We made sure Trent got his six official weigh-ins this season. We put him on our sectional roster, just in case. "The rest is up to him," said Snyder. Where does Reinoehl stack up at 135?
  2. How much is it gonna set you back? Two people can't eat at fogo for less than $100. Agreed...This is an AMAZING place to eat but it is very, very expensive. Buyer beware.
  3. Really? Out of all of the great, original, places to eat in Indy you are going to say Steak & Shake?
  4. Jillian's is a nice change. They have three floors that include a bar/restaurant, bowling alley, pool tables and a rather large arcade. If you are looking for a little change Jillian's is a good place to spend your break time. I'm not sure of the exact address without looking it up online but it is on Meridian just south of the circle. Some other fine downtown eateries include: Weber Grill - www.webergrillrestaurant.com (Corner of Washington and Illinois) Buca de Beppo - www.bucadibeppo.com‎ (Market and Illinois - next to P.F. Changs) Ram Restaurant and Brewery - www.theram.com‎ (Illinois between Georgia and Maryland) **Brew their own beer** Rock Bottom Brewery - www.rockbottom.com (Washington between Meridian and Illinois) **Brew their own beer** Those are just a few suggestions. If you want a detailed map feel free to look at this PDF: http://www.indy.org/files/map/RestaurantMap.pdf 5 weeks away...
  5. We are getting to that time of year where ever other post will include a reference to shaved ice and all of it's glory. Well, a few of you around the state (Muncie, Bloomington, West Lafayette and Indianapolis) have heard and have gone to Scotty's Brewhouse. Just last week Scotty's opened a new location in downtown Indy just one block north of Conseco. If you want to read about the restaurant you can visit the following link. http://www.scottysbrewhouse.com/default.asp?PageIndex=508 Highly recommended from someone that lived next door to one in Muncie and is within walking distance to the one on Indy's Northside.
  6. Indianapolis is getting a decent amount of snow today and I wouldn't be surprised if the school system freaks out and postpones the match. The commute into work this morning was only an hour for me (usually 15 min) and was two hours for a co-worker (usually 20-30 min). I'll keep an eye on any announcements regarding this much-anticipated match and keep the message board informed.
  7. http://www.broadcastsport.net/ If you are looking for a live feed (audio and visual) you can visit the above site and choose between the Main Gym (lower weight classes) and the Auxiliary Gym (upper weights). Also, above the video player there is a link to an updated bracket. You will need to provide a zip code, name and e-mail address to view/listen to the coverage.
  8. Last year there was a live feed for the finals. Is anyone aware if their will be a live feed for this year's invite?
  9. Throwing weight around Cavemen assert superiority in a victory over Penn MISHAWAKA -- An argument could be made that Penn High School's wrestling team has improved so much, it is now the second-best mat squad in the Tribune area. Really, only a couple other teams would take issue with that. But no matter where the Kingsmen rank, there is no question about which team is No. 1. Mishawaka's defending state champion Cavemen won 10 out of 14 weight classes and extended their win streak over the Kingsmen to 10 years with a 48-18 victory Thursday night. Back-to-back falls by Christian Lentz at 215 and Travis Thomas at heavyweight blew open a close match and put Mishawaka on a road toward its 11th consecutive Northern Indiana Conference championship. In all, Mishawaka collected six pins before a packed house at its home gym. And yet, this was no repeat of last year's dominating shutout. Penn drew first blood, and a third of the way through the contest, the score was tied 9-9. Spectators commented almost as much about Penn's improvement as they did about Mishawaka's pending victory. "I'm not satisfied, because we came in here to win," said Penn coach Brad Harper. "But I'm 100 percent satisfied with our effort." Penn's Pat Davenport got his team off to a good start by pinning Alex White in the opening bout at 145. And Joe Miller scored a late takedown in topping Mishawaka's Joey Smith, 10-6, at 171. Mishawaka took control after the 189-pound weight class, just after Dustin Boyd scored a 6-1 victory against Penn's Jeff Veal.At 215, Lentz pancaked David Reagan in 3:15, and at heavyweight, Thomas -- who just gained his varsity spot the day before -- stuck Charles Romine in 1:51. That pushed the Cavemen to a commanding 24-9 advantage. "Travis beat (previous heavyweight) Darius Cooley in a challenge match," said Mishawaka coach Darrick Snyder. "We're fortunate because I believe we have two heavyweights who are capable of getting to the state finals. But, unfortunately, there is only one spot." Taylor Wisler's 7-0 victory over Penn's Mike Witous at 103 and Paul Beck's fall at 112 increased the Mishawaka lead to 33-9. And then, in the feature match of the night, Matt Guerra's 6-2 decision against Cory Hildebrandt mathematically sealed the deal for the Cavemen.Guerra got the initial takedown, and then scored a huge three-point nearfall in the third period. "Penn came in here and wrestled tough," said Snyder. "And truthfully, I don't know that we wrestled our best. But our guys showed a lot of heart." At least five Cavemen wrestled through injury, including three-time individual state champ Josh Harper, who moved up to 130 pounds and wore a shoulder harness. The Cavemen will have no time to celebrate their victory. This evening, they are scheduled to travel to Lowell, Mich., for a match against one of Michigan's best teams. "After tomorrow, we have to give the guys a breather," said Snyder. "If there's another team in the state with a tougher schedule than ours, someone show it to me."MISHAWAKA 48, PENN 18 At Mishawaka 103: Taylor Wisler (M) dec. 10. Would Ryan Aldridge fit on here anywhere?
  11. As a Mishawaka grad I would like to make it tonight but will be unable to attend. Will I be able to watch live scoring anywhere? Will anyone be able to post updates on this forum? Thanks.
