  1. What's the policy if a weight at the north qualifier only has 5 total wrestlers and the same weight at the central qualifier and south qualifier has 30 kids.  Will there be 29 (5,12,12) in the bracket at state or will they take more kids from the the other qualifiers to make up for the low attendance at the north qualifier?

  2. Update:

You are all amazing! Thank you to everyone for sharing, praying, sending love and donating to the Tonte family. Coach has been through 2 successful surgeries. He was released yesterday and resting at home!!. He will return on November 26 for additional surgery.  We are so close to the goal, please keep sharing!

  3. Coach Tonte was involved in a serious car accident on Sunday, November 3.  By God's grace, he will be okay, but he will require several surgeries to his arm/elbow and face area.   The Tonte family will occur substantial medical bills.   We are hoping to raise enough money to help this incredible family cover these expenses. Most of you know the Tonte family has worked tirelessly not only for the Perry Meridian, Warren Central and Franklin wrestling families but Indiana wrestling as a whole.  Let's rally around Coach and his family and show him all the love!

    All for Love and Victories!

  4. Good luck to the seven qualifiers, Head Coach Jason Warthan and assistants Mitch Napier and Bob Brubeck.  I know I may be a little  biased but this is an amazing group of kids and staff.  If any wrestler is interested in a quality education and becoming part of the most successful Indiana college program over the last ten years I would recommend contacting Coach Warthan.

Here is a great write up with lots of links by the best wrestling sports information person in the nation Jackie Paquette.

    About leukemia:

What is Leukemia? Leukemia is a cancer of the marrow and blood. European physicians in the19th century were the earliest observers of patients who had markedly increased white cell counts. The term ?Weisses Blut?or ?white blood?emerged as a designation for the disorder. Later, the term ?leukemia,?which is derived from the Greek words ?leukos,?meaning ?white,?and ?haima,?meaning ?blood,?was used to indicate the disease. The major forms of leukemia are divided into four categories. The terms ?myelogenous?or ?lymphocytic?denote the cell type involved. Myelogenous and lymphocytic leukemia each have an acute or chronic form.

Symptoms: Most patients feel a loss of well-being. They tire more easily and may feel short of breath during physical activity. They may have a pale complexion from anemia. There may be signs of a very low platelet count. These include black and blue marks that occur for no apparent reason or because of a minor injury, the appearance of pinhead-sized red spots under the skin called petechiae or prolonged bleeding from minor cuts. Discomfort in the bones and joints may occur. Fever in the absence of an obvious cause is common. Leukemic lymphoblasts may accumulate in the lymphatic system and lymph nodes can be enlarged. The leukemic cells can collect on the lining of the brain and spinal cord and lead to headache or vomiting.

    Diagnosis:

Blood and marrow cells are examined to diagnose the disease. In addition to low red cell and platelet counts, examination of the stained (dyed) blood cells with a light microscope will usually show the presence of leukemic blast cells. This is confirmed by examination of the marrow with bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, which

almost always shows leukemic cells The blood and/or marrow cells are also used for studies of the number and shape of chromosomes

  7. The University of Indianapolis will host a USA Wrestling folkstyle event to raise money and awareness for leukemia.  It's the weekend before preseason nationals and Super 32 so sign up and get some good work in before nationals!
