  1. Like I said, this is in the planning stages. I agree, we need a lot of people on board with it before we can go forward. My thoughts were to use the weekend ISWA tournaments as the seeding. Basically the existing tournamenst would have a tournament inside their existing tournaments for 6,7 and 8th graders. Just like they do at middles school state. At the end of the tournament, the results would be sent to one person who would keep track of the results. Prior to any final tournament, whatever it would be. A seeding committee would convene to work out the seeding. We would have established criteria to determine how seeded wrestlers are placed.
  2. I guess that it is safe to assume that everyone who complains about the top kids hitting each other in round one are just chronic complainers and have no desire to make a change. Here is a suggestion. The next time you want to complain. Don`t, unless you want to try and be part of the solution. My only desire in this, is to find out who is the best on the day of the tournament. I have said this before. My kid will be in high school next year. This will not benefit me other than improving the quality of Indiana wrestling. You have to be open to change in order to move forward. [glow=red,2,300]" But this is the way we have always done it"[/glow] Look at the quality of other states and where they place in comparison to the teams we send. Why not be proactive in allowing our best to represent. Don`t get me wrong, the kids we send are great kids and in a lot of instances, they are the correct ones. You have to admit, there are many cases every year that the top kids hit each other and the better kid does not make it. Where are the people who are complaining about this every year?

I will go if I can deer hunt...I have always wanted to shoot a big Iowa buck...lol
  4. Great day, Awsome wrestling, Congratulations to all the wrestlers. You all did a great job!!!
  5. Is there anyone interested in doing this. This does not have to be just here in the cental region of the state. Actually it would be better to divide the state up into regions and have 2-3 tournaments in each region. If interested Coach Peck could use this seeding for His State tournament. If he is interested in this we would eliminate the series final and just use the seeding aspect. Not calling him old or anything but it would be nice to have some old salts on board with this if we can get it up and running. TBD
  6. After many years of hearing everyone talk about the fact that there is no seeding at the middle school level. Then everyone talking about how it could not be done. I have been talking to our new middle school coach and we are interested in trying to get a series of middle school elite tournaments for next year. These tournaments would be qualifiers for a final tournament of seeded wrestlers. Yes you would have to participate in the preliminary tournaments for seeding. We are not sure on exactly how everything would work at this point. We are in the planning stages at this point. We would host a tournament at Franklin Central and we would like to see if there would be any interest in schools who host tournaments all ready to have a tournament with in their existing tournaments. This would be the elite middle schoolers. This would consist of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. At the end of the sreies there would be a final that would place out to the top eight. Trophies comparable to the ones given out at some of the national tournaments we all travel acrossed the country to enter. 4th through eighth would receive custom medals. We would like to see at least six other schools that would commit to this. The final could rotate every year to a new school. All schools would help with every tournament. We would like to form a committee that would consist of at least two people from each school to work things out. Like I said this is in the exploratory stage but we would like to have everything finalized in order to get it on the schedule for next year. TBD
  7. I think the only way to seperate them out would be to have seeding. That would just open up a can of worms that has been thouroughly debated. Some middle school seasons are still in progress, including ours. Blind draw is probably the best way to do this. Some get a favorable draw some don`t. We have all been on both sides of that.
  8. This was the only year that we have participated in this tourney. The reason was because of the reports in prior years of how long the tourney lasted. I have to say that this tourney was very well ran and organized. Coach Peck and company did a very nice job. Congratulations on the success and enjoyable day shared by all. If there was anything I would have to say that went bad on the day, would be on several occasions, the clocks would not have been started or stopped. I think the officials acted correctly when handling those situations. Travis (T-Bone) had a better day than I expected and did not look as good as I hoped but we will take the eigth place finish at 90 lbs. and be very happy with it. Thanks again, you guys did a great job!!! He starts high school next year or we would definately be back. T-Bones Dad
  9. Congratulations little lady, you looked awsome. To all the young men that have been beaten by this young wrestler...Don`t feel bad, she is the real deal!!! TBD
  10. Thanks for the honorable mention. He would have to do everything right. Forget the stuff he used to do and use the stuff he is learning. A recent match against a really great wrestler he quit wrestling the way he is coached this year and went back to his old stuff and lost. The question is, which wrestler will show up? The one who has been wrestling very well, or the one that Lost recently? If he does everything right. If he wrestles the way he has been trained and have faith in the training. He could place. If worms had 45`s, birds would not screw with them...LOL...My only expectations are for him to give it his all. If he does that, win or lose, he has my respect and admiration. I am sure he will walk away from this tournament with a lot of things learned. John McMillan
  11. Well you know that FC has not hosted any tournaments. That being said, we do take a lot of kids week in and week out and support your tournamnts. I think that all the money we bring to you tournaments over the years would alow a parent/coach to an opinion. If anyone is volunteering to help, that is wonderful. The problem is, if they are on the phone, how can they be scoring a match correctly? Actually, it sounds like you might spend a little time on the phone and might just be taking offense...lol
  12. Can you purchase tickets here in Indy or do you have to purchase them at the gate? T would love to go to this match. He loves OHIO STATE!!!
  13. I was not able to be there for this tournament but my wife brought my son. This tournament is always very well ran and flows very well. My wife said the same thing about this year. Franklin is a class act. I have however heard from many people, even people outside of FC that the officiating was not what it could have been. I also do agree that if you have kids officiating, they should be on mats where the peewees are wrestling because they in a lot of cases don`t know whether they should have won or lost. If these officials are on mats where older kids are, they should be supervised until they are a little more proficient at what they are doing. After saying that. I would like to thank them and all the other volunteers for making this tournament the otherwise enjoyable experience. Knowing how Franklin has ran their tournaments in the past. I know they will learn from some constructive criticism and improve on an allready great tournameent. See you next time. T-Bones Dad
  14. What I was told in the past is you can challenge a weight but it cost cash money to do it. I may have been told wrong but that is what I was told all the same. Can anyone clarify this for us? TBD
  15. I see several kids that I know in here. Great job guys. Keep up the hard work.
  16. Just my two cents worth about faxed weigh ins. Too many people cheat on weight. Have free challenges. If it is found that the kid is oveweight by more than two pounds. They get DQ`ed for all matches. I just threw in the two pound number. I don`t know what it should be. Kids eat after they weigh. You do have too many kids wrestling a weight that there is no way in hell they would ever make if they got on a scale. This is proven when you see them at state. TBD
  17. Congratulations to Tommy Cash #1 and Justice Cash #3. Great job guys, keep up the hard work TBD
  18. The cost of the club is a one time fee for the year. $60.00 this includes you ISWA wrestling card and a club T-Shirt. These early club practices are designed for the more experienced kids. They are very cardio and will be fast paced. After the first of the year the high school coach will have a beginners introductory sessions. The cost and everything is the same for that. I will post that info at a later date. Jason and Scott Vaughn are the coaches for the sessions that are starting on Monday. We hope to see you there. TBD
  19. FC is starting club practices next week. Monday and Wednesdays from 6-8 in the wrestling room. 11/2/2009 Looking forward to a good year. TBD
  20. Just a suggestion here but there are some clubs and schools who put on very well organized and well ran tournaments. There are some that there has been a lot of effort put in but the organization is not what it should be and adds up to a chaotic and a very unsatisfying experience. The clubs and schools that put on the less desireable tournaments would get with the schools that put on very well ran tournaments. The experience would be much better for both the organizers and the parents and participants. I am listing a few but I am sure that there are many more that put on exceptional tournaments. The ones that come to mind are: starting with the most recent. Lawrence Central, LC ran an exceptional tournament this past week end. Franklin Beech Grove New Palestine. Last year must have learned from past mistakes because theirs was vwery well ran and organized. Brandy Cash is very helpfull and knowledgeable in organizing and helping with these tournaments. Not to mention, usually willing to help out. I thank everyone who attempts to put a tourney on. I am sure it is a huge headache. One that I personally would not want to undertake. Everyone knows which tournaments run smooth and which ones have not ran so smooth in the past. If everyone would get together when organizing, they would all know what works and what does not. Just a suggestion. TBD
  21. Just wanted to take a minute to express to everone who put on this tournament today. In my opinion, this tourney ran as well as any. When we got started, every mat ran non stop all day. There were not huge numbers here but a very enjoyable day. Awsome job folks, give yourselves a hand. We will definately return to future events. T Bones Dad
  22. I am not sure, new coach this year. Coach Burkett. Supposedly wrestled at Penn State. You can enquire at Franklin Twp. Middle School East. You could also check at FC west. I know Travis talked to him and he will be doing things a lot differant than how things were done last year. Coach Schmalls is coming back as well. The combination of these two is very promising. Actually looking forward to some tough practices. I am not sure of the spelling of his name. I am sure your coach can get him at the school. John
  23. I figured that was probably it. I do think it would be nice to have some middle school duals leading into the season. There are a lot of schools who do not take wrestling as a serious sport at the middle school level. I personally feel that anything you do should be done to the best of your ability. Otherwise, it is a waste of both the coaches and the kids time. If we have kids who want to wrestle seriously, lets give them a platform to do so. Why not have some middle school duals. TBD
  24. I have never really thought about it much but why is all the emphasis put on elementary duals? Why don`t we see more middle school duals outside of the school settings? Could someone enlighten me please? T-Bones Dad
