  1. Does anybody have the team pairings for Eastern, Lafayette Jefferson, Twin Lakes & Defiance (OH) tourneys going on today?
  2. I got Carroll (FW), New Haven & Penn pairings from IndianaMat. Thanks so much guys, it makes our lives so much easier!!!
  3. Ok here's the list of Saturday's Super Dual events that I need pairings for now, and then team scores afterward: Edgerton (OH) Carroll (FW) LaVille Munster New Haven Penn Twin Lakes Wawasee At least one of the 32 wrestling teams that we follow are involved and we need information. If you are a host or have a team involved, please post the brackets before you start wrestling tomorrow morning.
  4. We track results for 32 high school wrestling teams in Northern Indiana. At your suggestion, I checked all 32 of their team pages on trackwrestling. Only 8 of the 32 teams have complete results on their team page. Besides when there is a 16 team event, we shouldn't have to lookup all 16 team pages to get the results. Some place at the event the team scores have to be posted somewhere. All we're asking is for someone to take a picture and post it at IndianaMat or TrackWrestling. I realize that wrestling isn't basketball, and doesn't have the benefit of having John Harrell's websites, but there's no excuse for not utilizing the tools already available to the wrestling community. In a perfect world, as soon as pairing are assigned, the event host would post them online. Then as the matches progress, parents or coaches could tweet the match results as they happen. Online each event within the results pages should be a separate thread, not have results intermingled throughout several pages of dual results. I can't even image what people go through who try to track individual matches, in addition to team scores!
  5. Once again the wrestling community forces the media to do it's work for them. Sent e-mails to the 4 hosts with our area teams involved, asking for results and only got results from 1 of them. Tom Cameron Duals Round 1 Merrillville 75, Morton 3; Plymouth 59, Penn 24; Harrison 61, Highland 9; Kankakee Valley 66, South Bend Clay 11. Round 2 Merrillville 65, Plymouth 8; Penn 56, Morton 21; Harrison 69, Kankakee Valley 9, Highland 59, South Bend Clay 15. Round 3 Merrillville 65, Penn 6; Plymouth 69, Morton 12; Harrison 78, South Bend Clay 0; Highland 40, Kankakee Valley 36. Round 4 Merrillville 72, Highland 0; Harrison 60, Plymouth 17; Penn 54, South Bend Clay 24; Kankakee Valley 63, Morton 9. Round 5 Merrillville 35, Harrison 30; Plymouth 39, Highland 39; Kankakee Valley 40, Penn 39; South Bend Clay 48, Morton 26.
  6. So why couldn't someone in the wrestling community post these scores yesterday??? Sure NWI Times didn't have to walk around and compile them by themselves! Chris Traicoff Memorial Tournament 1. 8. I do but it's like was said about TrackWrestling, you have to enter data to get any output. By that time the interest in that event has waned significantly.
  9. We'd prefer results over animated gif's.
  10. I didn't say it was an easy process. But then neither is cutting weight or wrestling 5 matches a day when you are hurting. But anything worth doing is worth doing right. The folks in the traditional newspaper business have deadlines to meet, so it's much easier to publish information that flows to them. I once asked an AD to add me to the list of media that he sent results to, and was told that it was the media's job to go to the events and get their own information. I guess he thought the newspaper had enough staff to attend every event at every level for each sport being played by at least his high school! So when a large tourney or invitational was held, other area schools got their athlete's efforts listed, while that AD's school never did. There's a reason that basketball gets their results, at least varsity events, publicized; the coaching staff has come to understand the need to self-promote their own program. And I get a little weary of hearing about being short-staffed, and not enough time. I would venture to bet there is at least one parent connected with every team out there, that would love to help his kid and their teammates get the attention. It doesn't take a parent with the right last name, you can probably think of a couple pain-in-the-behind parents already that would do it if you would entrust them with the opportunity. It would involve giving up some control and entrusting possibly untrustworthy helpers, but sometimes, as my dad always said, "if you make someone else important they just might return the favor." It's just very frustrating for us that try to provide results to your fans, when we can't get results! If a newspaper doesn't get the info, they just don't put anything in the paper. But I enter all of the events scheduled for 35 of our surrounding schools into a proprietary database. Then every night I output a list of every event scheduled for that day, and include team results for each event that I can find somewhere or leave a big blank for that event. The winter season is easier than fall or spring, but if each school has 3 boys and 3 girls basketball teams, a wrestling team and a boys and girls swim team, that makes 9 teams per school. Of course not all of our local teams have freshmen teams and/or swimming, but if they did that would be 315 separate teams to track results for! Most of the times each of those teams is playing a team from another of the same 35 that we follow, so that only means the equivalent of 150 events x a couple of times a week. I glad that I don't have all of the responsibilities that you as coaches have, but if you look at the media outlet-to-number of teams around, we can use a break. If you create a group fax list or group e-mail list with any media company that asks for your results, you only have to do the list once, and then each one gets your results. But if we don't get any results and have to contact coaches for every sport at every school within our coverage area, it won't and hasn't been getting done. Wrestling can present another challenge because of all the super dual and other round-robin type tourneys. If a super dual has 6 teams involved, it is very easy, to just assume that each team wrestles all of the other 5. But for larger events, we have no idea which teams will actually face each other. Even having that extra piece of information would help a lot, so we wouldn't be scouring the internet for scores of a match-up that never happened. Since I think most of those matchups are planned out before the actual day of the event, why can't the meet coordinator just send the information packet that gets sent to the competing schools to IndianaMat.com? Twitter has been a tremendous help with gathering scores, so we don't have to constantly call AD's or coaches for in-progress scores for our scrolling ticker. Maybe you could ask a parent or bored sibling of a wrestler to tweet results for you. I thought trackwrestling was supposed to solve some of this mess, but last weekend, I used it for a local super dual and several team scores were missing and others were wrong, even as far as listing the wrong winner. If it would help to have online input forms for tourney brackets and/or regular dual events, if Joe's guys don't have the time, we can activate the ones that we used in the past at broadcastsport.net
  11. Joe, Would it be possible to group the dual results by 'Date' and then by 'Actual Location'? It's almost impossible to garner complete team scores for a Super Dual! We have to keep checking back every day to try to find new scores, and then we can't always tell if that is from a certain Super Dual or just a head-to-head dual around the same time. We're still missing scores from events that took place over a week ago. How can the media help promote the Sport of Wrestling, without some help from the wrestling family itself? Having been around tournaments of many different sports, we can't understand how difficult it could be to post the official bracket on-site and expect each team to take 5 minutes to post their scores before they leave. For heaven's sake even elementary-level baseball teams can make this happen!
  12. Not to be a piss-ant, but where was this bracket on Saturday night? Somebody had to be tracking it, to know what awards to hand out. By Monday afternoon, most fans have already given up looking for results. If you want to be on the big stage, you got to strut your stuff! I sent requests to 6 different meets last Friday asking for a bracket in advance and results afterward. Only got results from 3 of those, and 2 of them was because of track wrestling. Still have no idea of which teams did well at Merrillville and SB Washington.
  13. I can never understand why the fine folks who run this tourney can't post a bracket on IndianaMat, and then have it updated after the event is finished. I'm only looking for team scores, and those are almost impossible to get! Media and fans should not have to weed through results placed helter-skelter in the dual results section for the next week, just to get team scores and 1st-16th places. I believe the bracket below is what is used through the first 2 rounds then the four teams of each color depicted form a Round-Robin Pool for placements. As more and more media companies are being forced to cutback on their staff, if the Wrestling community wants to promote their teams and wrestlers some help is going to be needed. I understand that their is a lot of expense and staff required to use Trackwrestling for this size of event, but it can't take that much effort to just post all of the results in one place at the same time. Just to jerk your chain, media companies never have to go to this amount of extra work for Basketball. There's a reason that wrestling takes a back seat to other sports, and it isn't always media bias! 14. This will take you right to the page: http://www.regionwrestling.com/
  15. Did you click on the link below the picture to watch on iphone?
  16. Let us know if you are blocked by the IHSAATV site. And if you then can watch it on the other site mentioned.
  17. Try regionsportsnetwork.com They have hijacked the ihsaatv webcast and will possibly help you overcome the blackout
  18. If your ISP is in Indiana then your IP will reflect Indiana
  19. I don't know if it really is so, but their site says you can only watch online if FoxSports isn't available on cable in your area. My IP address is set to Illinois, so it works for me.
  20. If Uncle Darrell had been treated by the IHSAA like other companies that broadcast, he would still be broadcasting the State Finals. For Instance the Regulations governing broadcasting of IHSAA events clearly states: The following internet stations will not be granted permission to webcast from IHSAA Tournament Series events: ( Subscription-based internet sites. But Trackwrestling is allowed to charge a subscription fee? Getting advertising dollars for wrestling is worse than pulling teeth. Even though by far wrestling provides the largest audience of any sport that we ever broadcast. Too bad we weren't allowed to let our fans help pay our broadcast expenses. It's just another case of the powers-that-be changing the rules to suit their best interests, not the sport. We used to do 2 sectionals, 2 regionals and 2 Semi-states in addition to the State Finals. Now how many of those same events have live video coverage? In our meetings with them, it was very obvious that the only events that are important to be covered is the Big Dance. It's not important to promote the other athletes who don't quite get that far. Although if we hadn't broadcasted the State Finals for 9 years in a row, do you think anyone would be broadcasting anything but the Final 14 matches? Now that I have broken my arm patting our backs, I will sign off.
  21. www.broadcastsport.net will be LIVE VIDEO all day from the Goshen Wrestling Regional.
  22. You can't depend on this layout! For some weights, they use this layout and some weights are reversed, with A1 at the bottom. I guess the IHSAA thinks it wouldn't be fair to always make the A1-B4 match to be wrestled first. So they randomly select ascending or descending for each weight, I believe. Or maybe the Regional host does it.
  23. I guess the ihigh crew is planning in live vide webcasting the championship round.
  24. There will not be anyone doing a broadcast from the Mishawaka Sectional for the first time in many years. Hopefully someone will at least tweet the results. The ihigh.com crew is too busy to bother with wrestling this year
