Wierd day of wrestling with what seemed like an unusually high number of forfeits, scratches, inj. def., etc.
I'm skipping my Sectional picks and going right to my Regional Locks: 120 Welch (Castle), 132 Moody (Reitz), 138 Lannert (MD), 152 Rueger (Reitz), 160 Oser (HH), 195 Maurer (MD)
I would add that Turi would have a much better chance at winning the Sectional @ 113 than 120 but it would also be a higher risk of not making it out at 113 vs. 120
113 seems to be a much deeper class.
Both 113 & 120 are stacked classes. I would think 113 would be tougher than 120 in our Sectional when you add Stock (North Posey) @ 113 and remove Welch (Castle) @ 120.
Ok then, the North guy lost to a 152 lb. kid from MD and King lost to the #1 ranked 170 lb. guy and the #3 ranked in OT. He also beat the previously top 5 ranked kid at 182 in Warren from Castle.
This makes a lot of sense.
I truly hope this rumor is wrong!!!!!!!!!! Aaron King (Reitz) is a 2 seed behind the North kid when King's only 2 losses in Indiana this season are to #1 Willis and #3 Mappes (in Overtime).
Are you kidding me?!?!
Since the seeds are already set and Memorial will likely win tonights dual fairly easily over Castle anyway.................................I wonder if Welch will bump up to wrestle Wedding?
I'm having trouble coming up with 160 lb. class
I think Memorial has Collovechia, MD Parkinson, I'm embarrased to say I don't even know the kid from Reitz!!
Help me out with some names and records SIAC fans!
160:

North
MD
Reitz

Memorial

Big win for King over Warren. I didn't comment on the message board but it was my topic of conversation on the golf course today. It still amazes me that Warren made 170 - he must have a hollow leg. They should meet again in the championship of SIAC next week.
Other big wins were Brown over Kuhn and Davis over Stock. I predict Kuhn will get Brown next week and going forward but Brown is legit and has the skills to go far. Davis continues to impress me with back to back wins over Mater Dei and the highly regarded Stock from North Posey.
I'm not counting the Appel win as an upset over Central since I think he has the ability and should be winning these matches.
Kelley (Central) seems to have Hoehn's (MV) number but both will likley have major trouble with Lannert (MD) in the coming weeks.
Welch (CA) continues to impress and is the favorite going into the post season with Johns ® , Goebel (MD) and the Memorial kid giving chase.
No doubt the 113 match was exciting and pretty tough to referee I would imagine. As previously mentioned, Seng did a nice job of keeping Kuhn to a decision. Seng is a good wrestler but I think Kuhn is a level above.
My night started off dissapointing as the 1/2 pot number was 854103 and I had 854093 - 854102
My 7 wins each prediction was pretty close as it finished 6 - 8. Reitz actually picked up a win that I wasn't counting on. My 7-7 prediction was made back when I thought Vanhook 126 and Schnarr 220 were wrestling. I had them both winning vs. the forfeits they gave up today.
I'm sure the forfeit @ 170 was payback for Reitz bumping JCV up to wrestle 220 vs. facing Maurer @ 195? I thought the bump made sense with our best chance to win or keep it close was @ 220. Reitz was going to forfeit 2 weights regardless.
WOW - Lannert drops to 138. He will be a handful and it will make for some exciting matches coming up with Kelley of Central and Hoehn of Mt. Vernon. Lannert is definitely the favorite but the wide open styles of Kelley and Heohn make them unpredictable and dangerous.
Several close matches tonight along with Dominating performances by Moody & Reuger Reitz along with Lannert & Brandenstein MD. The Bassmeier come from behind win by pin over Appel did seem to excite the home crowd!
Johns / Geobel will be a good show in the coming weeks.
The mild winter has helped my golf game but hurt my wrestling prognostication. I haven't watched as much wrestling this year and don't have a good feel for Reitz's line-up and I'm not sure about injuries and open spots.
I do know that my daughter is taking me tonight to make sure I behave myself. I will probably spend most of the night keeping the ex-wrestlers away from my baby girl!!!
I do expect some outstanding matches and some possible shifting around.
I see the match split with both teams having 7 wins. However, MD will likely win the bonus point battle.
Both teams have some bump around options that could be interesting.
Getting Sam G. back will definitely help MD the remainder of the year. Why didn't Lannert wrestle last night against Central? What was the Wright / Hohl score before the pin?
