  2. Mater Dei wrestled great against Castle. I was surprised after MD struggled against Jeffersonville - most of the people in the gym thought Castle would "get er done" but it didn't happen. I think Castle is in much better shape now as is MD. MD, Castle and Reitz are the clear leaders in the area with several teams loaded with individuals - Memorial, Mt. Vernon, Princeton, North Posey, North, Heritiage Hills, Tell City and Harrison.
  3. Interesting match-ups this week. MD is favored but they are not a dominate team. They are very good and always will be. There are a few clear favorites and many t0ss ups. MD usually wins the toss ups but hey - I'm a Reitz fan so I'm keeping the faith! 103 - Reitz 112 - Toss up 119 - Reitz 125 - Reitz - match of the night 130 - Slight favorite to MD 135 - Slight favorite to MD 140 - MD - Reitz is coming on. 145 - MD 152 - Reitz 160 - MD 171 - Toss up 189 - Reitz 215 - Toss up 285 - Slight favorite to MD

Vernon: 103 - (Reitz) Kuhn 1st 112 - (Reitz) Moody 3rd, (MV) Matheis 4th 119 - (Reitz) Johns 1st 125 - (Reitz) Rueger 1st, (MV) Jon Hoehn 6th 130 - (MV) Burkhart 1st, (Reitz) King 2nd 135 - (Reitz) Dowdy 2nd 140 - (Reitz) Voegel 1st, (MV) JD Hoehn 3rd 145 - (MV) Marshall 2nd, (Reitz) Boyle 3rd 152 - (Reitz) Ritter 1st, (MV) Choate 8th 160 - (MV) Wagner 5th, (Reitz) James 6th 171 - (Reitz) Lovelace 3rd, (MV) Schmidt 8th 189 - (Reitz) Fentress 2nd, (MV) Oneal 5th 215 - (Reitz) Wimpleberg 3rd, (MV) Ruggeri 4th 285 - (MV) White 1st, (Reitz) Schneider 6th Outstanding Wrestler: Alex Johns (Reitz)
  5. Alex Johns 119 Evansville Reitz - defeated 2time defending KY state champ Matt Zarth (Lexington Henry Clay) 15-5 in the championship of the Lafayette 5-star tournament in Lexington. Alex was awarded Most Oustanding wrestler and Reitz won the team title with 5 champs and 3 runner ups.
  6. The dual is Thursday 1/15 - 6:00 at Reitz. Should be a great crowd (as always) with some interesting match-ups.
  7. Any details on Sulowski- sp? (North) vs. Henderson (MD) 125? I would've expected this to be a good match.
  8. No shock that MD will be favored until someone knocks them off. I still think Castle has the stronger team even after watching MD handle them back in December. If MD wins, they will do it in the consols. I only see them having 3 champs maybe 4. Champs Castle 4 or 5 Reitz 4 MD 3 or 4 Memorial 2
  9. Alex Johns (119) Evansville Reitz is I believe 168 - 16
  10. Niceshot, looks reasonable but I would change the last 3. 189 Fentress (ER) 215 Rueggeri (MV) 285 White (MV) The only one I'm relatively sure of is 215.
  11. Nice showing by the 3 Reitz Freshmen making their first trip to Connersville! 112 - 2nd 125 - 2nd 130 - 5th
  12. Reitz battled back to finish 2nd place overall to Cathedral and win their division. 103 Kuhn - 3rd 112 Moody - 2nd 119 Johns - 3rd 125 Rueger - 2nd 130 King - 5th 140 Voegel - 3rd 152 Ritter - 2nd 160 James - 8th 171 Lovelace - 6th 189 Fentress - 6th 215 Wimpleberg - 4th Mt. Vernon (posey) in the finals 140 JD Hoehn - 2nd 285 Alex White - Champ
  13. 119 - Keifer beat Johns 13-11 in the semis - the only details I can provide is that it sounded very exciting (I was listening on a cell phone) with some crazy scrambles and interesting calls. Reitz has 2 freshman in the finals - 112 Moody and 125 Rueger with 152 Ritter still in the semis. 103 Kuhn, 119 Johns, 130 King, 140 Voegel, 160 James, 171 Lovelace, 189 Fentress and 215 Wimpleberg still alive in the consols.
  14. Alex Weinzapfel Mater Dei - Football, Wrestling, Baseball. Standout in all 3.
  15. Reitz definitely took some hits today but I believe all but the Heavyweight are moving on to tomorrow with 112, 119, 125, & 152 still alive in the semis. 119 Johns / Kieffer match should be a good one in the morning.
  16. Great match - Cook was my pick to win it but he seemed to wait too long to get going in the final period down 3-2 and took a somewhat desperation shot giving Leach the late takedown to win 5-2. Both are very solid and should do well in February.
  17. Championship matches - No guarantee on the exact score but it will be close. 103 Trinity over Franklin -> Pin 112 Avon over MD -> 8-2 119 Trinity over New Albany -> 7-2 125 MD over Franklin -> 3-2 130 Union County over Providence -> ? 135 Union County over Memorial -> 11-5 140 MD over Union County -> 5-4 145 MD over Trinity -> 9-3 152 Sullivan over Avon -> ? 160 Avon over Saint X -> 5-1 171 Trinity over Memorial -> 10-4 189 Avon over Providence -> 5-2 215 MD over Tell City -> 6-5 HVY Memorial over Mt. Carmel -> 3-2 in O.T.
  18. No specifics but as far as MD goes - they did not have their regulars at 103, 135, 160, and 189.
  19. True - the finals should be very interesting and well worth the $5 if you haven't already bought a ticket. The announcer mentioned an estimated start time of 3p.m. tomorrow.
  20. Several teams are not at full strength including Mater Dei. After watching the first day I'm sticking with my original predictions and filling in the gaps. If I list 2 - the first name listed is the favorite. 103 Fahy - Trinity 112 Williams - Franklin 119 Bradbury - Trinity (had him originally at 112) 125 Henderson - MD vs. Vanhorn - FR 130 Carr - Union County vs. Girten - North Posey 135 Ervin - Union County vs. Dehaven - Memorial 140 Simms - MD 145 Zentophfer - MD vs. Ohlmann - Trinity 152 Fudurich - Sullivan vs. Alfs - Avon 160 Kleeman - Tell City vs. Jones - Avon 171 Hitchings - Trinity vs. Wedding - Memorial 189 Cook - Providence 215 Froehlich - Tell City HVY Whiting - Trinity vs. Borkowski - Memorial
  21. I assume the following will be favored? 103 Fahy - Trinity 112 Bradbury - Trinity 130 Carr - Union County 135 Ervin - Union County 140 Simms - Mater Dei 171 Hitchings - Trinity or Wedding - Memorial 215 Froehletch - Tell City HVY Borkowski - Memorial Others?
  22. I look for Mt. Vernon (Posey) to move up several spots from their 2007 finish (below) and the youngsters from Reitz should give Cathedral a run. Top 3 - Cathedral, Reitz, Mt. Vernon (posey) 2007 1- Reitz 290.5 2- Cathedral 247.5 3- South Dearborn 176 4- Roncolli 147.5 5- Hamilton Heights 147 6- Greenfield Central 144 7- Ev. North 143 8- Milan 141.5 9- Mt. Vernon Posey 140.5 10- Dekalb 134
