  1. He may have - not sure? 215 may not be as deep as 189 but it has a clear favorite in Castle. The 189 class is wide open.
  2. 130- NP - Girten 152 - HH - Wiess
  3. I thought Sandwith was 189? From what I've seen, the Castle 215 is the top dog. Kercher & Wimpleberg will battle for 2nd.
  4. Favorites in no paticular order: 103: Reitz & Harrison 112: Castle, Reitz, MD, Central 119: Reitz 125: MD, Reitz, North, Harrison 130: Castle, Reitz, Central, MD 135: Castle, MD, Memorial 140: MD & Castle 145: MD & Castle 152: MD, Castle, Reitz 160: MD, Castle, Reitz 171: Memorial 189: Castle, Memorial, Reitz, North, Central, MD 215: Castle 285: Memorial
  5. I'm back .......shot 76......... not too bad in the cold. 36 degrees with no wind is not too bad...I'm sure the boys up north would love our warm weather!
  6. There you go! No more posts for me today - heading to the golf course....brrrrrr
  7. Wow - boilergrappler - you've been waiting a while to get that off your chest I totally agree.
  8. It's no secret that the Evansville Courier and Press has terrible wrestling coverage - or a better word may be nonexistent. However, they have a nice size wrestling picture in today's paper! The only problem is - it is a picture of two Ohio high school wrestlers (one biting the other). The caption reads "WRESTLING MAKES HIM HUNGRY". Come on - EC&P - I would rather you go back to no coverage than to make a joke about the sport!! We have the SIAC conference tournament this weekend - I challenge the paper to provide the coverage the sport needs and deserves. You have 3 of the top 10 schools in the state wrestling this weekend and many highly ranked individuals! Show them some love! I know someone from the paper monitors this site for the Individual and Team rankings - hopefully, they will read this and get the idea. In years past, I've emailed the paper with suggestions and pleads for more coverage to no avail.
  9. 215 Class: Castle is a beast. I did not see the match with Tell City but I would imagine Castle won? Tell City beat Reitz in a close one. Castle beat Reitz by 5. MV did not wrestle their regular due to injury. 119 & 125 MV vs. Reitz: As mentioned above, MV Konrath is coming off an inury and did not wrestle at 125. MV bumped the 119 up to wrestle Rueger at 125 and FF to Johns at 119. Probably not a bad strategy but I was looking forward to the Konrath / Rueger matchup.
  10. Castle is looking good, this is the team I expected to see back in December for the Castle / MD dual. The SIAC will be interesting next weekend. The anticipated championship matches between MD/Castle at 135, 140, & 145 will likely decide the title. Other take-a-ways from today: Mt. Vernon's Heavyweight set the career win record. I did not hear the #. 130 is a very balanced class. MV 171 Choate will be in the mix fighting for second at the sectional behind Wedding. Central only wrestled 4 guys against Reitz. Their numbers seem to be dropping?
  11. I'm pretty sure it was an inappropriate comment during the 152 match. The photographer was too close to the mat and within earshot of the official. I guess Kevin has really good hearing - because most of the 2000 people were screaming at the time!! That's why they make me sit at the top of the gym
  12. Jimmy, I'm honored to be the topic of your first post. I'm sure there are plenty of pictures floating around of my son and me for that matter. I remember Jeff Parkinson MD tying me in a knot in the 1982 Regional.
  13. Bluebolt, It was actually a 16 pt. swing in my private predictions for 152 & 171. I had Ritter getting a major (4) and Lovelace dec (3) -instead we gave up (3) and (6). We still would've lost 30-29. It was an interesting night - Reitz will need to correct some things to give MD a run at Sectionals. A correction on the 152 match - I FAT fingered my text to Y2 about the illegal move. Ritter did not lose on an Illegal move. He was penalized 1 pt for what the referee thought was unsportsmanlike or excessive as they went out of bounds. This put MD up 2 - the ref called stalling with 2 seconds left to make the final score 4-3. Penalties offset I guess.
  14. I will send KarlH or Y2 texts of the results - I can't keep up with play by play but I should be able to give scores and highlights after each match. My first text will be the starting weight which could be key - then I will give the final score of the JV match. Then, I may take a quick break in the parking lot for a westside beverage before the show
  15. I'm only going to leave it up for a few more minutes so I don't start WW3 - but this was not called a pin.
  16. I don't remember the exact score at the time either. I just remember feeling sorry for him for giving it up with a nice lead.
  17. Historically, MD does not get pinned - particulary in dual meets. But I did notice a pretty high pin count at the MD classic this year. They seem to be wrestling better now so I don't expect to get that lucky. Even if we did get them on their backs - it's tough to finish them off See profile picture -> I can't believe nobody has commented on this
  18. King was winning big in this match when he was pinned. No excuse but he was up around 8 pt.s I think.
  19. I have a good feeling - my Reitz Elementary squad had a good practice last night and are sending out positive vibes to the high school team It's hard to believe (or maybe not) that the Courier didn't have an article about the match-up tonight! :'( They've been doing a better job with the individual profile pieces but are still dropping the ball on the dual meets.
  20. It's hard for me to focus on this tournament with MD staring us in the face tomorrow - BUT, I am looking forward to it! Is the rotation set? If so, when will Reitz / Castle wrestle? Renegade, You're right - 215 will be a good battle all day long with MV, Tell City, Reitz, and Castle. I don't look for any of them to go undefeated in this stacked weight class. 189 is not far behind with North Posey, Castle, Reitz, Central and MV.
  21. It's hard to say when the JV match will get over but MD always brings a full squad and Reitz has more JV than most teams - so I would lean towards 7:15. However, I would recommend getting there early. There should be some decent JV matches to get everyone fired up for the main event!
  22. I agree that Reitz only has a few clear favorites - but the same can be said for MD. MD has the edge in the swing matches and I expect several 2-3 pt. decisions. My prediction is both teams will score in the 20's with no pins. Reitz does have a couple of interesting bump opportunities but not as many combinations as MD. I expect both teams to play it pretty straight for Conference and Sectional seeding. Seeds this year will be much more critical than in years past. Both MD & Reitz fans wearing the black (westside) t-shirts should be a good photo opp. (Senior Project to show support for Veterans) KarlHungus, I can send text or email updates - send me a PM with your preference.
  23. Thanks Boiler10! Do you remember who won the 2 north matches and any details?
