  1. i can't believe that blair academy has guys ranked in 11 out of 14 weight classes. One single team has 11 guys ranked in the top 30 in the country at their respective weight. now thats impressie
  2. Warrendad, colleges most certainly look at the level of classes you take in high school and take that into account when admitting students. A kid that takes advanced classes such as calculus, physics, ap english and has a 3.5 gpa will get in over a kid who takes algebra II, and a bunch of screw off senior classes and has a 3.7. I actually know a few kids in my senior class who got waitlisted at a college because the difficulty of their classes they took in the first semester of their senior year wasn't at the standards of what they were looking for, so they wanted to see the classes they would be taking in the second semester before making their decision. And on a slightly different note, you cannot tell me that the admissions doesn't admit someone they may not originally have admitted if that person wasn't and athlete who would be on scholarship
  3. I have always heard Baker was a very good football player. i know chalfant is also a very good football player..
  4. Besides the men already listed in the college signings area, does anyone know anything about any other big name indiana wrestlers and possible locations. I am thinking of guys like Adam Chalfant, Taylor March, D'marcus Spencer, Johnny Dillon, McGinley, Graber, Billy Baker, etc. Not only D1 schools, I am interested in any idea some of you may have, because it seems to me more people should maybe have signed.
  5. Chalfant may be listed as a running back, but i believe he played more like a fullback. 225 pounds up the middle with that kind of athleticism is very hard to stop
  6. not sure if it is 100% set in stone, but I heard that chalfant didn't have the best of grades so he is going to a JUCO to get started.
  7. Ok, that makes sense. The pats didn't get in trouble for taping the game, they got in trouble for the taping of hand signals and such when the coaches were calling in plays
  8. i don't see why it is illegal. you watch tape of the other team in football before you play them, i don't get why you couldn't have video of someone you are going to wrestle.
  9. very doubtful, but i'm pulling for josh martin at 140 over sims!
  10. i agree, chalfant's athleticism is unreal...and i don't care how big everett is, chalfant is so strong and quick that everett's weight may hinder him
  11. TCboiler, you are wrong.... according to http://www.kelley.iu.edu/about/rankings.html, the kelly school of business is ranked 6th overall among public business schools in the entire country, and has a few programs through the business school in the top 5. On this website, http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/rankings/index.html, they are ranked 15th overall(including all private schools such as harvard and MIT). And as a current kelley student, i do know that they have a placement rate of 98% within three months out of school, and 100% for 6 months. On another note, I am not down grading purdue, they do have great programs in their top programs, i was just trying to prove that IU is very good academically.
  12. As a current IU student, i disagree with your statement. Purdue is not the place to go for academics unless you are seeking and ag/engineering/nursing degree. IU's kelly school of business is one of the top in the country, and has better liberal arts programs than purdue. I know a lot of current guys on the squad are from Indiana, but i guess my question is about this year...as far as i can tell brooks is the only indiana guy right now who is committed.
  13. After looking at the signings page, I notice that many of indiana's finest are going to purdue. Why hasn't IU gotten on top of this and recruited more of these guys? As far as i can tell from their website, and this one, brooks is the only indiana wrestler they have so far.
  14. Does anyone know if Chalfant is going to wreslte in college, and if so, where? I can't believe there has been nothing on this board about it yet because with his power and athleticism i see him as having a lot of college potential
  15. After looking through the bracket, I don't really see anyone giving chalfant a match till he wrestles fitzgerald in the semis, and even then i really don't see chalfant losing. He is a beast, and no heavyweight in the state matches him in strentgh and athleticism, they better hope he makes a mistake, because thats the only way he will lose!
  16. Congrats to Martin of Randolph Southern...school enrolment of less than 275 On another note, Randolph Southern has had quite a few state qualifiers over the past few years, and their enrollment has been around 250-300 for as long as i can remember. State qualifiers I can think of off the top of my head Caleb Jones-2006--qualifier Jason Martin-2005- 4th place Brian Whittington-2004-7th or 8th place Josh Martin-2009-? And I believe that they had a heavyweight go to state in 1991? and i believe he placed pretty high Thats awesome for a school of that size. Great coaching!
  17. i am glad the wzbd finally started streaming. I appreciate the broadcastsport feed, but those two announcers are terrible.
  18. schendel of garret and martin of randolph southern will meet in the ticket round at 140. IMO it will be a good match that could go a couple points either way. I'm pulling for martin in this one!
  19. Chalfant is the only person I see as a heavy favorite, and I still don't consider him a lock. At 152 mosier from yorktown will have something to say. At 160, Runyan from Martinsville will also mess up your predictions here, and at 215 you have to give the advantage to Baker of Bellmont, hasn't lost yet, and bumped up at team regionals to beat a very talented heavyweight from yorktown. And even though Tsirtis is very talented, I give the edge to Cashe. I believe that the merrilville semi-state will have the most placers, maybe even the most champs, but I guarantee they will no win everyweight class, nor even the 10 that you have as locks. To say that anyone is a lock is a bad prediction
  20. I just looked back through all my posts, and I only had three posts that gave my opinion on the rankings, and they all included the same person. Never once did I criticize the rankings or say they were wrong, I was simply posting facts about a wretler I believed should be ranked, and asked for a simple reason of why he wasn't ranked. Don't be mad, I really appreciate the work you do, and if the rankings weren't on here, i would have nothing else to do all day while sitting in class
  21. Y2, I never once said you rankings were horrible. I didn't mean to push the wrong button, I was doing it all in good fun, because there were numerous times you told me and other people on here rankings are based on this year. And when I saw what you had posted about a kid from last year, I thought it was funny, and all in good fun, I thought I would point it out.
  22. not trying to call you out, but there have been numerous times when you said that what happened last year has nothing to do with this year.
  23. yeah, that janney chalfant match was a close one! ;D hahahahaha. Chalfant will walk to state, and won't see a match until he sees arthur from bloomington north
  24. i also believe jason martin from randolph southern will be in action at 165
  25. you have to keep in mind that the 2 young guys that are now coaching winchester grew up in winchesters wrestling system being coached by anderson and jones. They may be young, but they have that team ready to go. What i was refering to earlier about coaching was not who was a better coach for the entire team, because there i would have to go with dulaney and yorktown. I was saying that individually chalfant is getting better instruction. going toe to toe with fondrea and mock everyday is quite a workout. and i'm sure chal's older brother makes it into the room every once in awhile
