  1. Good news is that BSU cancelled classes today. That is good news! Thanks, you would think I would find that out from a phone call instead of the board. : bad dad.
  2. I hate to hear that since I have a child at Ball State. I do hope most of the snow fell between the hours of 7 and 3 so your streets get plowed!
  3. South Vermillion Middle School Head Coach Josh Kersey Feeds into South Vermillion High School Head Coach Ron Stateler
  4. Great article, nice to be able to put a face to the name from the earlier thread.
  5. We're still 2hour delay, but it looks pretty likely that they will close. I hate that during Sectional week, but can't get the kids in a wreck for the sake of practice. I don't think there is any weight allowance for a school cancellation since it doesn't involve a meet through the week, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Still not complaining, we have snow, not the ice. By Sat we'll all be on our 2nd cup at this hour, nervous, anxious and mad because we can't find our lucky socks.
  6. Oh Sure...Rub It In... LOL I am glad someone in the state is actually getting coverage. I know the coaches need to supply the papers with info, but how hard can it be for the Sports Editor to look at a schools sports schedule and do the math on a big event? They seem to know when every golf match is! Well, our head coach calls the paper's sports reporter after every meet we have and gives him the results. I know some of the other coaches around here do the same. Sometimes the best way to promote the sport is to give them no reason to not put it in the paper, especially if all they have to do is copy and paste or translate notes over the phone. Seems you have to be self-promoting in this sport as a fan and other secondary sports even though in the smaller schools more kids get scholarships in them than they do in primary sports. Good luck, maybe you should tell them you've got a hot story on Bob Griese or Don Mattingly....just to get their attention, then hit them with the tourney results!
  7. Always enjoyed watching Jimmy and DJ. How about Ethan Harris of U of I taking the Manchester Spartan Mat Classic tourney's most outstanding wrestler award. Congrats!
  8. Good point, with us it's mostly the former managers that come back and work the tables.
  9. I guess I have to really compliment the Terre Haute tribune-star this year. They have had several great articles on wrestling this year covering all of the wabash valley teams. Kind of nice to open up the paper and see large pics of kids on mats.
  10. Several schools have started doing this around the state and it's a great idea. It is a great idea. At our Sr. night dual we had our club kids form the "tunnel" for the wrestler and parents to walk through. It was a lot of fun because the little guys were giving high fives to everyone as they came down through on their way to the mat. It made them a part of the tradition and the family that is wrestling. I know it's hard sometimes, but club and middle school parents......try to get your young grapplers to as many high school meets as you can. Chances are they already know some of the high school guys from when they help out in club and middle school.
  11. Congrats to Coach Brown and company, looks like it was a tough day of wrestling.
  12. You guys are really bumming me out. It was hard enough when his manager sister graduated, now this being his last year, it's been pretty tough. I'm personally trying to block it out until banquet, or until the very last match, whenever that may be. Did everyone make it through their Sr. Night without breaking down? One thing to remember.....grandchildren come along sometime, and then hopefully it starts all over again!
  13. Congrats! As a 24 year vet let me welcome you to mall goer and shoe shopper anonymous. :
  14. As I've seen before, new board, new name. I was MatsidePacer because I can't sit in a chair during a match, have to be moving around. New name, well, an assistant coach for the wildcats on the western edge of the state, creativity fades with hair.
  15. Thanks for setting this up Y2. Takes a lot of work, and is appreciated!
