  1. Nothing. If you check my preview I picked them all to win. I issue fair and unbiased news covering Indiana wrestling.
  2. Starting with 10 and heading down to 1 of the NOT TOP 10 I OBSERVED 10 THINGS HAPPEN, BUT SADLY ONLY ONE WAS UNRELATED TO THE BULLDOGS OF CP (respect to a great season and bronze finish) 10. CLARK OF BULLDOG WC loses on Friday night 9. VANTICKLE LOSES on Friday NIGHT 8. Shepard falled via cross cradle by WARREN CENTRALS LEAVELL 7.NEW PRAIRIE STANDOUT (hourvart) and takedown RECORD HOLDER loses heartbreaker in fluke (from my vantage point he looked to be battling injury) 6. TEAGIN NEWOL loses by MAJOR to NEW HAVENS Ocampo 5. Jendreas loses after being “JohnPsulions” lock of the tournament (big shock here) 4. Lt. Hawkins loses to 10 loss BRAYLON REYNOLDS OF BB BULLDOGS (great tourney Braylon) 3. John p’s SECOND lock of the tourney rhinehart loses a heartbreaker to the DUKE OF BELLMONT 2. Will Clark of BULLDOG (CP) was losing 0-5 to WEINGART OF INDY CATHEDRAL ( IF REF WAS IN POSITION HE WAS LIKELY FALLED AND CP HAS ZERO CHAMPIONS!) 1. (RUMOR MILL, not yet confirmed by sources) CROWN POINT PREMATURELY PLANS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP PARTY AT HOTEL WITH BALOONS COOKIES AND MORE great tourney to all involved and thanks to Evansville for hosting
  3. From section 109 - he looked injured
  4. UNFORTUNATELY- I WAS WRONG on my Jeff huvert pick. He looked good, but Courtney was too much. best of luck to these two studs in the future
  5. Brandon Johnson as I noted in my preview
  6. Fellas this wasn’t great. Crown point DID NOT have a good weekend. They looked nervous all weekend which is understandable. they got the so called “jello legs”… however! As I have been saying ALL YEAR! CLINTON SHEPHARD is a beast… watching him warm up I was astounded by his fluidity and motion. this stud will finish the deal tonight.
  7. Refs have been 10x better than semi state - genuinely extremely satisfied with the high quality reffing displayed this weekend I was nervous after a horrible showing at the new castle semi state. crown point has seriously dissapointed…. Like really bad. BUT they still have a shot at the crown
  8. I’m at the American Legion post 265 for anyone that wants to meet up tonight and talk grappling.
  9. 106 Jensen Boyd the super frosh is the favorite here. This young stud can light up the score board! but Mason jones WILL NOT go down without a fight. I expect the winner to face Roncallis Peyton Schoettle under the lights (do they have lights in Evansville?) Sleeper: Jonny bissmeyer of Indy chs looked solid at New Castle. Was hanging tough with Schoetlle until a big throw. 113 “REVVVVIN your ENGINES” this is Revin dickmans weight. He”ll have so semi light work in the semi finals vs a tough bollinger but I expect him to roll. Look out for Roncallis Blake Getz this kid can GRAPPLE. Blake handled my champion pick at the new castle semi state in Hancock’s Bradyn Volz with relative ease. Getz was truly one of the more standout wrestlers at the new castle semi state. Darkhorse: I’ll stick with Bradyn Volz of Hancock. This kid can wrestle and I am expecting him to give bollinger everything he can handle Saturday morning 120 This is just one of those weights the field is competing for that red ribbon of second place. Gavin jendreas is one of the biggest locks of the entire tournament. anyone can come out of the bottom half but give me Ty Henderson in a bout under the spotlight (if they have one) dark horse: give me Seth Aubin. Don’t know much about this kid but it looks like he’s got some nice wins under his belt. Looking forward to watching him go to war. 126: The top pod of this bracket is the problem with no wrestle backs. I mean SERIOUSLY the top pod could go 1-2-3-4 in a tournament with wrestle backs. But that’s the name of the game. You show up and show out at semi state and avoid this mess. give me Schaeffer of EVANSVILLE MATER DEIIII (I can still hear the old state announcer saying it) dark horse: give me eli broady. This fellow is on a mission right now. 132 Thrine and Hockaday meet in the semis. Not ideal for the spectators but it will have to do. Thrine looks good but NOT GREAT right now. I’ll take hockaday by 4 points. And no disrespect here I would love nothin more than a 8-8 overtime match and I’m not completely counting Thrine out. I expect Demarco to win the other side of the bracket, but give me a dark horse in Jack Davis. he stuck every kid he wrestled at new castle besides Thrine… this was a 4-4 match heading into the third. This kid is wirey and can scrap with authority. Davis vs Goss will be interesting Friday night. 138 I’ve been a Clinton Shepard fan all season. This kids a freshman beating state champs and he’s only getting better. The betting odds have him at -175 to take Gold this weekend. he will meet leavell for a rematch in the finals. dark horse: none. This weight is too top heavy for a dark horse 144 Huevarts loss last week was a fluke. This takedown machine will take home the title. really unfortunate that Reese Courtney drew him in his pod. give me a rematch of last weeks East Chicago finals Zar walker vs Huyvaert. dark horse: Parker reynolds. If this youngin gets a rollin’ he could find himself a spot in the finals. 150 This weight is top heavy. I think if you asked 100 people 97 of them would say 1. Krejsa 2. may 3. Getz / Vanover would be the final result give me hagewood AND Stevenson of Franklin central as my dark horse(s) plural 157 This weight is WIDEEEEEE OPEN Top half of the bracket is brutal but give me Betz to make the finals, and pellot likely makes the finals on the bottom half. But lookout for my dark horse here. This kid can seriously wrestle. dark horse: freshman AIDAN KINCAIDE (whewwwww Nelly this frosh can wrestle, and he’s getting better every week) 165. Alright let’s cut to it. NO ONE is touching Cressell or Rhinehart. This two had an EXCELLENT matchup at the Al smith and there will be a rematch in the finals. for those competing for bronze, give me Duke Myers of Belmont. dark horse: Xavier smith of Fishers 175 one of the more interesting weights of the tourney and boy do I wish Kyle harden was healthy. He’s been battling pains all season, otherwise I’d have him in the finals. Give me Costello vs Russel in the finals HOWEVER michael white will not go down without a fight to Costello - Costello will lose if he sleep walks into this match. Coach jacob aven is new to the scene but he has his kids ready to grapple. 190 gunner Henry vs penola Saturday morning is a war crime. The loser of this match would get third with wrestle backs. Sorry to brownsburg but give me Penola. I just have this weird feeling penola turns it on and avenges his loss to weaver in the finals and takes home GOLD! Darkhorse: Mcconell of THE GROVE. Not really a dark horse but I could see him beating weaver and making the finals. 215 Alright now call me crazy and I know I’ve been partial to the new castle semi state throughout this preview, but give me BJ Johnson of LN vs Indy Cathedrals Jackson weingart. Weingart has had some hiccups this season but has proven he can legitimately beat ANYONE. Bj Johnson is a great athlete that I truly believe could go on a run. And Ln is historically great in the 215/220 weight class. darkhorse to win the bracket: Caden brewer of brownsburg 285 Paul Clark wins the bracket but watch out for a couple of fierce competitors in Nate Johnson and austin Hastings. These dudes must devour protein because they are STRONG. dark horse: watch out for Aramis mcnutt to get hot and go on a run after a subpar performance last week. He’s capable of beating anyone on ANY DAY. it’s been fun providing the community with quality wrestling journalism all year. best of luck to ALL competitors. You should be proud of your achievements of making it to the state finals. until next year - Johnpsulions
  10. Please BE CAREFUL critiquing inappropriate gestures… my post was dismantled for reporting the NEWS
  11. Please no one get offended if I don’t pick your favorite wrestler. I am not criticizing your child by not picking them. 106 BOYD 113 DICKMAN 120 JENDREAS 126 SCHAEFFER 132 HOCKADAY 138 SHEPHARD 144 HUVYART (YESTERDAY WAS A FLUKE) 150 KREJSA 157 PELLOT 165 CRESSEL 175 COSTELLO 190 WEAVER 215 WEINGART 285 CLARK Again. Please don’t be upset, sad, disappointed, or angry.
  12. JOHN P WILL BE AT NEW CASTLE SPECTATING SOME GREAT WRESTLING AND REPORTING ALL NEWS. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!
  13. it’s Friday! Gotta get down on Friday! my blood flows with anticipation as I await “WRRRRESTLERS. CLEAR. THE. MATS” and the first round of simi state begins. GOODLUCK TO ALL COMPETITORS. MAY THE BEST MAN OR WOMAN WIN
  14. Sorry. Not even close to true. Lots of weak regionals with 4’s making it to semi state that wouldn’t make it out of most sectionals
  15. Whoops. That’s what I meant is Bradyn Volz. My mistake
  16. Every year someone comes out of nowhere and unexpectedly wins their respective semi state, peaking at just the right moment… Who is one wrestler flying a little bit under the radar that you expect to make a BIG impact! For me, this grappler is bradyn Volz of Hancock! I expect serious noise to be made. Who is your dark horse semi state champ? The anticipation is killing me! WRESTLERS - CLEAR - THE - MATS
  17. Technical Fall or Pin. Waylon wins this matchup relatively easily
  18. 106 - this is shoettles weight this kid is a stud and he WALKS through this bracket. Jonny bissmeyer of Indy CHS gives him his closest match of the day. 113 - Bradyn Volz makes his presence KNOWN and takes GOLD. Many will know his name after Saturday this kid is a young STUD. he will take on the victor of a tough ticket between Reyes and bayliss. I suspect Reyes prevails. 120 chase yant brings home the Gold medal After potentially his toughest match of the day with Perry Meridians RJ taylor. upset alert? Look out for Ezra fye - he will not go down without a fight in his likely ticket round matchup with FC’s Rich rodgers: 126 Cathedrals Bragg takes home gold after a semis thriller with broady and wins a tough battle with returning placer “Butt” of New pal. 132 Tylin Thrine electrifies his home crowd as he hits postseason stride. Looking for fireworks as he meats common foe, cam Volz in the finals. Jack Davis of Bishop wins a couple matches by fall and cruises for bronze 138 oh boy do we have ourselves a ticket round match In whitehead vs Hornsby these two have an electrifying style matchup and I plan to have my buttery popcorn ready for this one Winner likely finds themselves a date with Warren Central JUGGERNAUT KYRELLLLL LEAVALLLL 144 Another Warren Central WARRIOR finds his way to the finals for a finals matchup that I am ready to watch Indy cathedrals DYLAN GHRAHAM looks to avenge an early season loss flip a coin on this matchup - I’ll take “the luck of the Irish” in a close one 150 - #4 Jacob weaver finds himself in a TOUGH ticket round match with roncallis Getz Getz injury defaults out of regionals to 4th and weaver loses by fall in a match in which he was searching for a technical fall…. the beauty of the regional! Now these two studs battle for a trip to THE FORD CENTER hamilton heights fettig is a tough out - look for him to surprise some people and take home gold this weekend 157 silas foster meets freshman standout Aidan Kincaide of Noblesville in the semis I suspect foster is hungry after two straight losses to Warrens Anthony Cashman foster puts up a great fight but I’m giving the edge to Warrens CASH MONEY MAN 165 Waylon Cressell of Warren might not drip a single drop of sweat this weekend He might win this thing blindfolded, respectfully! 175 This weight intrigues me! Is Kyle harden back to health? What can we expect out of this young stud? If healthy, I’ve got him in a 2 point match over Warrens Brenton Russell…. but I am not sure that he IS healthy… I’m intrigued to find out 190 FIREWORKS IN THE TICKET ROUND Penola of zville vs Guenin of GC! what a matchup…. I’ll stick with my guns and take Penola in a close one Penola waltzes to the finals for a REMATCHHH with Rossvilles UNDEFEATED WEAVER Penola is my state champion pick. I’ll take him in an electrifying finals. Penola with last second takedown for the win! 215 This could easily be the best weight in the semi state - I could see all FOUR advancements taking home a medal in Evansville Weingart vs Glass ticket will be a close one weingart is probably the light betting favorite heading into this matchup Woodall vs Kendrex Weingart vs BRANDON JOHNSON of LN flip a cube… I have no idea who comes away with Gold at the 215 285 THE BIG BOY RUMBLEEEE In one of the most intriguing ticket round matchups of the tournament, Cathedrals Hosia Smith finds himself in a matchup that he has seen major issues with in the past Jacob McClure looks to defend his early season victories and I’ll take him for a victory for the third time this year over smith HOWEVER - IF SMITH makes the leap and comes away with a victory - I suspect he wins New castle, and makes a RUN at a state title in Evansville. This is a matchup you do not want to miss. Hastings of Noblesville looks to make a statement as well. This is an athletic big man. Best of luck to all competing at the new castle Semi State! And happy spectating WRESTLING FANS
  19. Now that the brackets are posted I am so relieved. preparing already to start making my Pickems
  20. Evansville has multiple matches that could be the state finals the following week…. Happening in the ticket ROUND! Doesn’t seem right
