  1. I like the idea of scoring points from sectionals to state for individual team points champion team. We have the class duals decided (just wish it was tweaked). Somehow we should figure a formula to combine dual results with individual tournament results and crown a champion.
  2. That would be great but probably not realistic, but hey I post non realistic ideas all the time. The Ihsaa probably doesn't even care that wrestling exists unless it severely damaged their pocketbook.
  3. Bog just asking if you like the coaches team state dual we have now or the old format of the sectional champions from individual results wrestling in duals for regional and state. That's how I'm gauging this proposal for individual tournament.
  4. It seems everyone wants one or the other. I'm looking for middle ground.
  5. We already have tournaments like the Al Smith Classic, so why not use tournaments like those throughout out the state as class tournaments by tweaking them? I'm just saying we don't have to change our format but just add to it.
  6. No I wrestled during high school but not as long as others have, nor was I very talented. However it was about proving to myself I could learn and compete against those who had.
  7. I think all wrestlers would agree that their goal is to be the best that day and to become better than they were. I don't believe format matters whether it is class or our current or both. Medals and ribbons are just for show.
  8. I think all wrestlers would agree that the medals and ribbons are just for show. I bet most if not all would say that being the best wrestler for the day they compete is their goal. Whether that be a class tournament or our current or both.
  9. Why not have class individual tournaments to better seed the wrestlers for our current format. Keep the small schools happy by letting their wrestlers achieve something they feel is important while giving the large schools more practice and better match ups to prepare for our current format.
  10. I guess I just don't get why we can't have both. We could put in a class individual tournament during the season and have our current individual tournament as it is now. We just need to get the schedule figured out.
  11. I'm saying that an individual has control of their own destiny in those four years by hard work and determination. The Mishawaka kid may have less obstacles than the Triton kid in obtaining that medal, but if that Triton kid wants it bad enough he will earn it.
  12. Galagore, when it comes to individual performance school size has little to do in my opinion. However when it comes to determining a team champ that way I think it is a disadvantage for small schools. Only sport where we never have a true champion as dual match ups and strategies are different than individual results gaining team points.
  13. While madtown, Y2C, and Karl stall on this topic, no offense, anybody have an idea if my proposed idea would work?
  14. I would like to see both formats. I doubt this would be possible though. I love the class team duals but like to see everyone with a shot. Have class individual tournament during the regular season and then all classes individual tournament at the end. Almost like it being tournament of champions. Love to see all class team duals tournament back also. In essence we could have a team being a champion four times. Class individual points, class team dual, all class team dual, and all class individual points team champions.
  15. How about Adams County wrestling? Adams Central wins it's 2nd class A title giving them 2 out of 3 titles with a runner up. Bellmont finishing second in their first appearance. South Adams has quality wrestlers who could and should make it to state and maybe bring home a title. For a small county in the middle of nowhere, Adams County is producing quality wrestling.
